I was in CLE for the NCAA wrestling tnt, and was lucky to get a reservation at Lola’s. EVERYTHING was great, especially the food. I can’t wait to go back!
Didn’t like the fact that as the hostess went to seat us near a he kitchen, I asked for the window table since we were like the second couple to walk into the restaurant at about 4:50. She sat us in the second closest table to the front window and told us that table had been requested. Five minutes later a party of three were seated there by the same hostess, and they were talking about how cool this table is and how “we can people watch.” It was clear that they didn’t request the table and were pleasantly surprised by being seated there. They had on their Penn St. shirts and baseball hats, along with their blue jeans and tennis shoes, where my wife and I chose to get dressed up business casual, with me wearing dress shoes the entire day and night of wrestling, from 10:00am when the doors opened until 11:30pm when they closed. We chose not to go in jeans, tennis shoes and casual wear, yet still we were lied to and treated like second class citizens in my opinion.
For that reason, I would never return to this restaurant ever again.
Everything was Amazing! Had the scallops which were wonderful
Our server (Steve) did an excellent job. We started with the beef cheek pierogies: velvety goodness. Ordered a couple bottles of red (their selection is massive). My wife and I both ordered the hanger steak. First of all - God bless Michael Symon for offering hanger steak... if prepared properly (and these definitely were), it’s one of the best cuts of the cow, in my opinion. My parents both ordered fish - both said their meals were delicious. We ended with various deserts: all unique and very tasty. Being that it was my birthday and that I wanted to spend it with my whole family, we brought my 3 year old along. He was (thankfully) very well behaved but I won’t bring him back until he’s older - not because of the restaurant staff (who were very gracious and accommodating) but because of the other diners who looked at me like I had three heads when carrying my little boy to the bathroom (by the way - get over yourselves people... we’re in Cleveland not Paris). All in all - a very, very nice experience.
We drove approximately hours to eat at this restaurant. The setting was very good, service was great and the menu items very interesting. Having said that, the food was good but not as we expected it to be. The place was extremely noisy and the food was nothing to write home about. All in all, we had a good time at the R&R Hall of Fame, and the hotel downtown that we stayed in. We will probably go back to Cleveland and will go to other restaurants along this row, just not Lola.
They went out of their way to help us celebrate our 15-year anniversary
amazing place great service so happy we made it
Food was amazing. We have been to both the Detroit location (Roast) and Lola. And loa is by far the best!! Well worth th 1 1/2 hour rice. Will deffinatly be back.
Beautiful room. Food, service and the whole experience was primo
Hosted an important customer. Every dish was extraordinary, as were the cocktails from Leann at the bar. Gina’s service was impeccable! I’ll definitely request her personally next time. When she heard that we were also celebrating a birthday, she took the initiative to bring out an elegant birthday treat and her favorite libation. Great meal! Great night! Michael Symon and Lola NEVER disappoint.
Grumpy unfriendly hostess.
The rest was excellent. Food was delicious.
A fantastic restaurant with excellent service. They have a well curated wine and cocktail list, and a small but well concieved and diverse menu. It's a gem of a restaurant and well worth a reservation.
The experience was good: great attentive service and unique food options
Great food!! Had the smoked pork chop and flavors were phenomenal. Hubby had the scallops and they were cooked perfectly. The kiddos were quite happy with the steak and fries and even my daughter who hates pickles loved the pickle sauce. It is on the pricier side but worth it. If you got really picky kiddos they would even make a basic steak for them.
Had high expectations coming to Lola's and they did not disappoint! Got there right at reservation time during a Saturday night and got seated right away. While busy, it was intimate setting and the service and food blew me away. Even noted we were celebrating a belated birthday and a date night and they surprised my date with an amazing little dessert for her birthday. Well worth every penny and made for a memorable evening!
Great service from Gina. Way too noisy, but that may be the normal atmosphere.
We love Lola's! Everything is delicious, from the salads and soups to the entrees and homemade desserts! Whenever we're in Cleveland we try and book a table!
Lola had a great feel but getting sat next to a table of 5 kids while the adults were at another table was a downer. Lola is already loud but add to that 5 tweens that needed to out do the other it was just not the best. After they left it was nicer but I was just expecting more.
We were underwhelmed with our experience at Lola. We heard great things prior to dining here as we are from out of town, and we were very excited for our night here. The service, food, and atmosphere were all just okay. We far more enjoyed the food and atmosphere at other Cleveland joints, for a much less expensive price tag.
Have dined here several times, but somehow never tried the bone marrow (MUST GET) or the Pork Chop (ditto). Duck breast was very good and the cocktails are worth every penny.
Everything was great except it was really hot in there, I was sweating and sticking to my seat. Not pleasant
Great food. But they missed a little on service. They forgot to bring my business partner's salad- then said "sorry" and brought it out at the end of the meal. They also forgot to bring my wife's polenta (we forgot too and she noticed and remembered when we were about to leave). Might be normal at a "regular" restaurant but at this upscale place that seems a little amateur, IMO.
The restaurant is fun and good. But we have dined when Michael Symon was present, and the whole experience was astoundingly perfect. A little something lacks when he is not there, but still fine.
We dined here on a Sunday night during restaurant week to celebrate my birthday. It was absolutely wonderful. The 3 course prix fix menu gave excellent options and we also added the wine pairing for an additional $15, which was an excellent value added. The salads were delicious. Hanger steak and frites were cooked to perfection and the dessert was perhaps the most flavorful and beautiful I've ever had. This is a place that combines ambiance, food and service in top form.
Hands down the best food I've ever eaten. I highly recommend anything that was alive at one point.
Go easy on the salt ! The Rosemary fries are unbelievably salty fries with a barely perceptable hint of rosemary. Everything is heavily salted and there should be a warning about what to expect when ordering. We are health concious 60 year olds who travel extensively and eat out frequenltly. Your food is the saltiest we have encountered. That is a shame because it detracts from the over-all excellence of the restaurant
Simply the best restaurant in Cleveland. The food, the staff, and the service were superb. They ALWAYS are. They made my birthday special. We will celebrate every special occasion at Lola. The evening was perfect.
It was my first time at Lola’s since it moved downtown and I’d always wanted to see if it was as good as it was in Tremont. It was everything that I’d hoped it to be;the place was energetic, the menu exciting and the food was delicious! I will definitely tell my friends that this is a place to go and I will b back.
At first a balked at the menu prices. However given the taste and quality of food it is well worth it. I had the Dover Sole and it was the best tasting restaurant dish that I have had in decades. Every bite was a new experience. I can see why Michael Symon is so successful.
Wonderful meal for my husbands birthday with a well thought out prix fix menu for restaurant week! The hanger steak was outbid this world!
Our son gave us a gift card for Lolas for Christmas. A very thoughtful gift. It is expensive so we would not have gone there without a gift card. The food was great! We have the four course special for restaurant week. they offered both a vegetable and meat options. Both were unique very tasty and well presented. Portions were good. The noise level made it a little hard for table conversation. We were in the middle of the floor, so maybe a side table or booth would have been quieter. Service was great, not too intrusive, but they right away to fill up the water glass and take away plates. It was my husbands birthday and they surprised us with a cupcake especially for him. Very nice touch. We will be back. Parking close was difficult as we are not that familiar with downtown. A recommended parking option would have been nice. We ended up parking about an 8-minute walk from the restaurant which wasn't bad but we are not as young as we use to be!
So good I'd go back just for the sides. This was one of the first stops I came to in Cleveland, and it will continue to be my 'nice restaurant out' when guests come into town. So far I haven't had a dish that wasn't excellent.
I work at Lola but never got to sit in and dine. It was very nice experience being able to sit down and enjoy the delicious food I help make. Absolutely lovely
Outstanding service. Thoughtful staff. Amazing food.
Have not visited Lola since it left Tremont. My mistake.
Two of us went to experience Restaurant Week, we chose the carnivores menu.
The beef cheek pierogi was heaven on a plate. Truly, I cannot remember enjoying a food this much. My next visit, this will be my entree. The cruciferous salad was quite good. The hangar steak was tender and edible ( not a huge meat fan).
I love blue cheese and I like ice cream, the two together sound pretty bad. Wrong! Again, a delicious surprise.
Specialty cocktails pricy but good, server was attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to go back
Pros: Great food.
Cons: Noise level, tables are crowded too close together.
Wonderful service, ambience and food light and quite yummy!
Great food and impressive selection of wines. They treat you well from the moment you walk in the door. We make a reservation here every time we fly into Cleveland.
All four of us had the special menu (beef cheek ravioli, salad, hanger steak with wonderful sauce, Lola fries, poached pear with blue cheese ice cream), with the nicely selected wine pairings. That certainly would have been a great meal, but we preceded the feast with the charcuterie—-which made it a REALLY great feast. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
