Terrible service. I made reservations for Sunday the April 14 and when I get there the host tells me their system was down and they couldn’t see reservations list. She then tells me they doing first come first serve. I made reservations over a week prior and I couldn’t even get a notification! Highly disappointed and they didn’t even try to make it better. The host looked like she didn’t want to be there and didn’t want to be bothered... smh
Asked them to turn down the music, they did but turned it back up. Coffee machine was broken. Very much of an extension in Saturday night partying, not a nice brunch.
I reserved a table for 5 at 9:00am and then changed it to 9:30am for this location and when we arrived, we were told by the worker that the restaurant opens at 10:00am. According to Google, Yelp and Open Table the opening time is 9:00am. Please update this for future customers. We were forced to find another breakfast location nearby and suffered long wait times despite planning for a reservation here. Needless to say, we were displeased with this situation.
We were served by Gale. She seemed nice at first but when a friend of mine asked a couple different questions, she responded in a rather nasty manner. She also made us divide the check ourselves with we didn’t appreciate nor expect. When we come to a diving experience, we shouldn’t be expected to do that extra work of figuring out who owes what.
Desire that, the food was AMAZING and we loved the atmosphere and music. I would recommend this place for young adults. They played great music which is something you don’t usually get when you’re out to eat. I would return!
Went for my hubbys 23d birthday. Second time there, enjoyed my food more and the music selection is pretty live. I’ll definitely go again in the future!
Didn’t get to eat! Claimed their system was down and the wait would be 45-60 minutes.
I read other reviews after the fact turns out they are always having system problems.
I was looking forward to having a good time on a Sunday Funday.
Their computer system was down so they did not have access to our open table reservation. So we would have had to wait for a table. She estimated a 20 minute wait but the restaurant was so LOUD while we were waiting we decided to leave. You could barely hear the person next to you talking. It was not what I was expecting at all.
We did not stay for the food so I cannot comment on that. I would not return - not my style place
SUPER BUSY for Brunch, as expected. Definitely expect a long wait, but the food, mimosas and price make up for it!
This brunch was so fun for our large group looking to get our party on. The mimosas were flowing and the food was incredible. I would have given 5 stars HOWEVER, I made a reservation a month in advance and we still had to wait 45 minutes for a table. It was worth the wait but we were all hungry and had to wait outside in the cold due to it being too crowded inside.
The mimosa deal - AS SOON as you put your napkin on your plate after finsihing eating, the check is brought and mimoas are over. If I were you, I'd take my time choose a meal, wait a bit to order, take your time eating to prolong how long you get your bottomless for. We ended up getting them for about 2 hours which was well over enough time.
The experience was awful. I made a reservation for no reason. I waited for 45 minutes past my reservation time and I was never seated, I ended up leaving. The space is packed, small, and the service sucked. The "hostess" was running around like crazy. We had to grab her attention after standing around for 10 minutes insteading of her asking how she could assist. Ill never go back.
We had reservations and there was no way we were going to be sat anytime soon. It was extremely loud and it took 10 minutes to even let someone know we were there.
Sunday brunch is the best here. Takes awhile to get a table but worth the wait.
This place was a lot of fun for a last minute brunch - its quaint but not packed in like cattle and the DJ was playing the music loud, but it was still easy to keep a conversation going.
Visited for Sunday brunch on a recent trip to Chicago. If you're looking for a quiet place where you can really talk to your companions, this is not it! Music was VERY loud, but set a party atmosphere which worked for my birthday party. Add in cheap unlimited mimosas and ww had a great time. Everyone was happy with their meals as well. Fun place!
It’s VERY loud because of the music but it’s a great time. The wait staff is great, the food is really good and come out in a good time.
I’ve been to LoKal three times. Great food and great value for the bottomless package. The only thing hat could improve is the hostess and how she takes down or accounts for the order that people come in. It’s too much of a competition between people with reservations and walk-ins for her attention.
They didn’t honor our reservation because the system was down. The hostess was quite rude when she told us this and did not seem to care. The noise level was way too loud. We left and went to the Bongo Room, which was delicious!
I have been here before and I was really disappointed! I understand that they are slammed for bunch and that is awesome but the SHOULD NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS! The host was running around helping with food so she really had no control over the door our party was there at 11:30 for our 11:45 reservation time and she told us it might be a little wait. Around almost noon she told us it would be 5 mins and then we didn’t see her again at 12:25 we went across the street to get food. It was really disappointing as we made the reservation for a large group to celebrate a birthday and pregnancy and the customer service was lacking.
I made a reservation for 7 people because we were looking for a brunch spot that could accommodate so many people. When we came to check in, we were told by the hostess that it would be a 20+ minute wait. We ended up being seating over 30 mins after our reservation time - which was really frustrating because there's not much room to stand and we were then waiting outside. If they can't accommodate people at the time of reservation, they shouldn't take reservations, just be a waitlist only!
The food was really good. There was only one server who was tending bar, waitressing and playing host so service was a bit slow. She was kind and accommodating. The credit card machine was down with no backup-square space reader-and the atm our front was down. We were notified toward the end of our meal. We had to walk to Chase to get cash which was inconvenient. Other than that it was fine.
we waited over an hour for our brunch reservations and ended up walking out after the host only had a communal table to offer us. unacceptable for a reservation.
Very loud but overall we had a blast. Be prepared for a long wait.
This was one of the worst experiences of my dining career. Boozy brunch but no one can hold their alcohol. If you like a side of puke on the floor with your brunch than this place is for you.
The irony of writing an OpenTable review of a restaurant where a reservation is completely useless. After arriving at 1:30 for a 1:45 reservation, I was greeted by an empty hostess stand, which remained that way for an additional 10 minutes. When the hostess did arrive, she informed me that there were two parties ahead of mine. Normally, that is not a problem, but in this instance, however, it took an additional HOUR for my party of two to be seated.
Once seated, our friendly waitress promptly took our food and drink orders over extremely loud music (Which I enjoyed, but I also enjoy conversation). When she brought out food over, she brought it sans silverware, and it took her at least 10 minutes for her to bring the silverware. I understand forgetfulness, but dancing with patrons while my food gets cold is not a great way to ensure that your customers return.
Lokal is one of the more affordable bottomless brunches in the city, so you get what you pay for. If you decide to go, be prepared to wait.
Great place, you guys kill it. I love the music and service here. Definitely going back.
We had a reservation and waited 45 min for them to seat us. They never did so we left and got brunch elsewhere.
It was for my birthday. I came there early, and the staff were super awesome! I loved every minute of it. Thanks LoKal for celebrating my birthday with me! :) I’ll definitely come again.
1) they auto grat everyone (even though it’s not mentioned on the menu or the website), there were 4 of us
2) the champagne they use for their bottomless brunch is SO cheap, I passed on this, but they were still out of multiple beers and couldn’t even make an Irish coffee. I guess they don’t want people spending money on normal drinks
3) they have 1 bathroom for males and 1 for females, both doors literally open up to about a foot away from
Tables, tables where people are eating- honestly this is gross
4) this place is SO loud, I couldn’t even hear our server, and we were put in a corner
The reservation I had was set for 11:30 and my whole party was present by 11:30, but we didn’t get seated until 12:15pm-12:30pm. Otherwise, music was great, food was bomb, service after being seated was good as well. I would go back, just with a smaller party.
Very crowded....waited for table for 5 people got small booth with end chair added. All you can drink mimosas at room temp.....if you can get a second serving. Exception: Food was great!
While it offers a fun, vibrant environment, I was incredibly disappointed with the service. I made a reservation ahead of time, but our party ended up waiting over an hour to finally get a table!
We had been there previously for brunch and loved it. They were super busy with a nice city vibe. We had tickets to a 10:30 show at the IO and want to make a last minute reservation and ended up with an8:30 reservation at Lokal. When we walked in the place was dead. There were three booths with customers including us. The floor was cleared of tables either for cleaning up after brunch or to make room for a dance floor? The waitress was lovely but more interested in the few patrons at the bar. The food was delicious and once we ordered came in a timely fashion. The ambience was just strange. We would definitely go back for brunch but probably not for dinner.
I made a reservation for 1:00 pm, when I arrived there was no one by the entrance to greet us, it was super packed and I had no idea who to inform I was there for my reservation. Once I found the person, she told me it would only be a few minutes and that they would have my table ready. Around 1:15 pm I asked her how much longer it would be and she said that they were working on getting other people seated. I reminded her I had reservation but she said I would still have to wait. My friend and I waited until 1:30 and at that point we decided to leave. I understand there would be a wait, i would've waited about 15 minutes or even 20 minutes. But not 30+ minutes when I made a reservation.
The restaurant was CLOSED for our confirmed 9:00 a.m. brunch. They did not help us find another location. I had the confirmed reservation in hand and was not notified of the fact that the restaurant opened at 10:00 a.m. Disappointed in both Open Table and Lokal.
We went early, for brunch at 9:30. The music was too loud and the service was not good even though there was hardly anyone else in the place. The waiter didn't write our order down even though he seemed unsure of it, and he did in fact get it wrong. We also had to wave him down whenever we wanted coffee or water refills. The food was fine, not amazing but not bad.
Seriously too loud. couldnt even order had to leave. Tried to cancel reservation but they did not come to help us at front entrance and then tried to call but went to voice mail Which was full. Never ate there but stood around in the noise fir a while. Really crazy.
Their bottomless mimosa brunch is the greatest!
Tried to call this restaurant a number of days and at different times leading up to our reservation and kept getting voicemail. I even tried calling the other location in case the number was wrong and also got voicemail. What restaurant has a full voicemail box or doesn’t pick up the phone? This coupled with the reviews about the rude staff and poor service was enough to not even take a chance dining here.
TOO Loud to hear guests speaking next to you, let alone a party of 8.
