Lokal - Wicker Park
This European-flecked neighborhood restaurant gets the urban vibe going with its stylish interior dressed in square tables, white molded chairs, and large canvases of modern art. The lounge area hosts guest DJs who pump up the volume when the lights go down, augmenting the retro feel. At Lokal - Wicker Park, lunch and dinner offer wholly different experiences, but each is worthy on its own. Brunches include: Duck Confit Benedict, Braised Pork Belly, French Omelets; while the dinner menu is more complex (showcasing the likes of NY Steak with truffle fries and apple slaw, Pork Tenderloin with potato pancake and mushroom cream or Goat Cheese Risotto with confit tomatoes, sweet peas and butternuts squash) . Lokal - Wicker Park is lauded for its fresh, first-rate ingredients often supplied by local farmers including Gunthrrop Farm, Nichols Farm, AquaTerra Farms and others.

waiter delivered terrible customer service and when we asked for a manager she told us she was the manager. However, after asking the other waiter she called the "real manager" to speak with us.
Our appetizer came out the same time as the food and after that we did not need it. It took over 15 min for the waiter to come and when she did we asked if she was our waiter, her response was "I guess so". She also did not want to bring our second pitcher of mimosas because she said it had been 90 min, however, it took 20-25 min for us to even order the food or the mimosas. Also, we wanted to order the second pitcher soon than we did but it took us forever to find her because she did not follow up with us through our dining time.
Terrible service, I do not know the waiter's name but she her hairstyle was a bun on top with long weave in the back. The real manager was friendly.
I had dined here multiple times before and thought that this time would be better with a reservation. However, even though my reservation was at 1:45pm and we arrived at 1:20pm in case there was availability earlier, we didn't get seated until 2:45pm. The place was so loud that we couldn't even hear each other talk. Alot of our food orders were messed up too, and just overall wasn't great. The menu prices were higher than the prices on the website as well. There's really no point of making a reservation, because their reservation system is a first come first serve (as long as everyone in the party is present) - no matter if you made a reservation through opentable or not.
Too small of a venue to accept reservations. Didn’t honor anyone’s reservation. Was sat an hour after scheduled timing with slow service, likely because included gratuity.
The food was SO good and they give you a carafe of bottomless mimosas which is nice, but there’s a lot of orange juice so next time I’ll probably pay $3 more to do bottomless champagne.
Has an 11:30 reservation and wasn’t seated until 12:30. It’s a great value but wouldn’t go back. Felt unorganized.
music was too loud to even hear the server, no ac on an above average hot day (upper 80s)
I went there to meet my friend and they were not open, so we went up the street.
Had reservations and couldn’t get in. Line was out the door and even with reservations, we were considered with the people outside.
Great setting... music is super loud so its hard to hear your friends talking. Unlimited mimosas were a hit. Great spot for brunch with friends if you can beat the sunday crowd. Make sure to make reservations.
We were delivered another tables order and after 5 minutes we finally caught the waitresses attention and alerted her to the mistake. She and the manager then proceeded to pick up the lukewarm plates and redeliver them to the correct party. This was unsettling to see, as it made me question if my food was fresh. I won't be returning to this restaurant.
I had to wait almost an hour after my reservation for a party of 10, due to them being small and crowded. Overall, we had a blast. The food and drinks were awesome. Music on point!!
The wait can be a bit long but its still a really fun place.
We had a reservation at 9:00 am on Saturday but when we showed up, they said they weren’t going to open until around 9:30. I don’t understand how a restaurant takes reservations for times they won’t be open, even though they should have been open according to all sources. It was embarrassing to show up with friends from out of town and not be able to eat at the spot of our choice.
I might have a different review if I visited at night, but for a Sunday brunch it was loud AF. Sorry if I'm stereotyping but no one in the restaurant looked the type to enjoy the style of music being played. And I don't think they had air conditioning. Absolutely couldn't wait to get out of there. The only silver lining was the quantity of food for the price, and the Nutella Frittes were in fact awesome. But not enough to outweigh the overall experience. No plans to ever go back for brunch.
If you’re doing weekend brunch, it’s fun but be ready for loud music and be ready to shake your shoulders a bit
I had a reservation and when I got there it was still a 45 minute wait so our group left. Very disappointing.
Great bottomless brunch. Would recommend the steak & eggs
It was a CardiParty in both the bar and my mouth!!
Our server was amazing but the restaurant had no air conditioning or it wasn't working so the entire 3hrs we were there we were sweating. My shirt was wet. Our waiter was sweating too. He did bring a pitcher of water and tons of champagne. I have been to Lokal plenty of times and the music and food is great but this time I was miserable because of no air.
We called to see if the restaurant was busy, no answer (twice) and so booked a table on open table. We walked in and were the only people inside. The music was so loud, the drink menu was extremely bare (they were working on a new menu) and the waitress was not very attentive. We stayed because we needed to eat and it was late, otherwise we would have left.
We had a reservation, arrived on time, and never got seated. We actually waited the entire hour before we left. Don’t even know why they take reservations. Emailed the restaurant and haven’t heard anything back. Better luck to future folks who make a reservation for brunch, and be sure to have a back up plan.
It was soooooooooooooo LIT! I’ll definitely be back
There is no AC here- beware! Very hot and very loud
No air conditioning on a 94 degree day and extremely loud music. Ended up leaving and going somewhere else.
A/C was out unfortunately so we were roasting inside the restaurant. It was 90+ outside and not much cooler inside. Would have been nice if staff would have been more attentive with ice water to compensate. Food was excellent and previous experiences were better so we will be back again.
I was quite disappointed with my experience here. First of all, the air conditioner just happened to be broken on the day that I went there. Also, the World Cup was on and the restaurant was playing the broadcast over the loudspeakers at full volume. It was hard to even converse with the people at my table. The server and menu don’t properly explain what the dishes are, so the Nutella frites are actually full-on stuffed French toast... and now fries as the menu suggests. Lastly, my egg white scramble was so full of grease from the grill that it was the only thing I could taste. I would not go back.
Service sucks but the food was great
Had a reservation and waited for an hour and ended up leaving! We had a party of 6 and they let a party of 7 sit before us because the table was for 7 or more people. Really!!! We had a reservation! Won’t be going back
This was the worst brunch experience ever. Very poor service.
Although I love this place... they need to replace the furniture, the tables are all very wobbly. It’s very irritating for me to hold on to my food and my drinks because I feel like they are going to go sliding off the table if I move around too much!
It was way too loud and only played hard core rap. Not going back.
Had the best time there. This is my new go-to!!
Had a reservation but it was useless as we still had to wait an hour. We couldn’t even order drinks (bottomless mimosas) as we waited which sucked. Music was way too loud and it was super hot in there. Will never go back!
A server had to take our table after the original server didn't great us for the first 10 minutes. Then we waited another 5-10 minutes before getting our mimosas. Server was great though and brought shots to make up for our time. Ambiance lacks in the back of the restaurant. It's way to dark in the back for a brunch. It could definitely use some brighter lights.
Everything was great! The music, the food, the service, THE MIMOSAS...Everything was great!
The fact that there's no functioning phone number is absolutely insane
When we got there they had no record of our reservation. I tried to call probably 20 times the week of. The restaurant is totally unreachable. We waited nearly 2 hours because it was a busy Saturday and the first host forgot to inform the second host of our group before going on break. Once the second host was aware of our party she got us a table immediately. The experience was wonderful after that.
I recommend the other location. They are reachable and so much more accommodating
Place is loud as can be with the music wearing. We had breakfast there and the outlets were very good as were the Nutella fritters. If you are looking to be able to communicate with your friends bring your phones to text
I booked a reservation several days in advance for brunch this morning. I was never notified by OpenTable or the restaurant that Lokal is actually closed today. My plans were ruined and we were unable to get in another restaurant due to the holiday. I am extremely disappointed in the poor customer service from both companies.
I strongly do NOT recommend this location for brunch. We made a reservation for 11:30 to celebrate my sister's birthday. I tried to adjust the number on the reservation/call to inform them it was a special occasion and no one answered the phones. Voicemail was not available. When we arrived the hostess was friendly, but informed us that a table was not available yet. Why allow reservations if you don't keep them? Also, the restaurant was extremely hot with a lack of air flow/temperature control. Worst of all, the music was playing at an ear splitting level. I understand this place is supposed to be hip, but it was louder than most bars and clubs. In the end, after waiting about 10 minutes, we didn't even stay to eat.
