Loi Estiatorio Ratings and Reviews
Went for lunch and the only good taste was the eggplant dip. All the interesting dishes had a large supplementary charge. The pita was stale and baked until rock hard. The crabcakes were all filler. The kataif was soggy. Won't go back. As far as the service, they brought the main course while we were eating the appetizers.
This is a very special restaurant and we had a fantastic dining experience. The food is amazing and the service second to none. We had the best meal in NYC and we have been to many top restaurants. Chef Loi is a wonderful and caring person who made us feel at home. Can't wait to go back and I recommend this to all. It is a must visit!!
Loi is one of the best restaurants in NYC. The food is always fresh and creative and the chef/owner, Maria Loi, is a national treasure.
You are made to feel right at home as you dine on one delicious course after another. Favorites include the fantastic Greek salad with the best Feta cheese ever, the fabulous crab cakes, and the superb branzino. For dessert, you won’t find better baklava and yougurt and honey.
Alex, Maria are warm, personable and energetic hosts. I’ve been there a few times now and they welcome me warmly as part of their Greek (non-Greek!) Family. Food is fantastically diverse and healthy. Great seafood and many salad/veggie alternatives.the lighting is warm and the ambience encourages you to stay and enjoy the many wonders. I will definitely be back as will my friends and colleagues. Love this venue!
This was only my second time here, and Loi and Alex, the owners, treated my like I was family! The food was the star too. The freshest fish you are going to find in the city! The branzino is outstanding. But the reason I came back, was for the grilled octopus appetizer. A flavor you can't explain. You have to go experience it yourself. Not to mention the lamb shank and the trio of spreads...plus everything on the menu!
Chef Maria welcomed us as we Camembert in & personally seated us. She made sure our server knew we had a theater event so we wouldn’t be rushed getting out in time. The pita & warm feta spread was amazing. The Greek salad Had the freshest ingredients & truly was the best we’ve ever had. The lemon soup! The broth was so rich & complex with deep flavor. We had the mussels & prawns which were also delicious. The baklava was perfect & the rice pudding was unique but satisfying. Wish we’d had enough time to come back!
Loi is a "sleeper". Authentic Greek cuisine, not what you would find in the typical Greek restaurant where the focus is on gyros and souvlaki and stuffed grape leaves (which have their place, but not this place). Maria Loi, the chef/owner, is the Greek version of Lydia Bastianich. The seafood is impeccably fresh, all courses are served beautifully, the staff is great. This is a winner. If you want authentic, creative and delicious food this is the place for you.
Another AMAZING evening at Loi! Delicious food, outstanding service and of course entertainment! Chef Maria Loi always makes our meals more enjoyable with her wit and charm. The fish is the freshest you will find in NYC and Maria's yogurt is to die for! Can't wait to go back!
We try to dine at Loi Eatiatorio whenever we visit Manhattan. We met Maria Loi during our first visit and her energy, her excitement about food, and the high standards she sets for herself and her staff have kept us coming back! At this visit my wife had the Branzino and I had thé moussaka. Both were excellent! We also love the complimentary appetizer: warm yogurt with feta and herbs served with pita and cornbread and the complimentary dessert of Maria’s homemade yogurt with honey and crushed nuts. Both are excellent! We also ordered a dessert: shredded filo with custard, honey, and nuts-exceptional!! We will definitely return!
This is my favorite Greek place in the city, the food is so clean and tasty, and the ambiance and service is just impeccable. On this occasion, I went there for a business lunch, and my colleagues were very impressed, they loved the food of course, and Chef Loi's special dessert collection! We had the Greek salad, the salmon and the branzino, with a delicious glass of white wine from Santorini (assyrtiko my favorite). I will definitely be having more business lunches there, it is the perfect place for it and so centrally located that it is convenient for everyone.
Ms. Loi was wonderful, so much fun to chat with. And The food was amazing, especially the Lamb Shank which was the best my wife and I (we both ate it) had ever had. The grilled octopus was fantastic as well, as was the feta cheese and yogurt dip. As a topper to it all, Ms. Loi was kind enough to provide us with complimentary desserts that were equally amazing. My wife is VERY VERY picky and she loved the food. And the service was just perfect. We will definitely be back!!
We celebrated a birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The food, ambiance and service were terrific! We were a party of 8 and everyone raved about the food. The appetizers were delicious, including the grilled octupus and spreads. My lamb chops were perfect! Others had whole fish and were very happy. They were out of the Santorini white wine but the replacement was just as delicious (a sauvignon blend).
It was my first time dining at Loi and will definitely return.
Loi is a wonderful experience hosted personally by Chef Loi. The food is spectacular and healthy, no butter, everything is cooked with olive oil. The quality of the Bronzino from the Mediterranean is unique in NYC, and the menu of Greek delicacies is extensive. The Greek dips are very tasty; found them recently at Whole Foods. A great find!!
Maria Loi, Master Chef and owner, the consummate host, was only too happy to address our culinary requests and made our dining experience a delicious, informative, and wonderful event. We are looking forward to inviting family and friends to join us on our next visit.
I have had dinner at Loi on many occasions, personal and business. Each time the experience has been wonderful! The food is delicious, authentic Greek ingredients and prepared with no refined sugar or butter. Imagine baklava without any butter...it is amazing! The flavor of the walnuts shines through. This is the same for all of the various foods I have eaten at Loi.
