Maybe we were there on an off night.
>We ordered cocktails off their menu and after 10 minutes they informed us they had to go to the store to get the alcohol to make them.
>We ordered appetizers and the calamari was tough, the octopus tasted like tuna, and the spreads were not enough to wash away the disappointment of the other two dishes.
>We finished our cocktails and our appetizers and still our server had not come by to take our entree order. I should note that, we were not here during peak hours. Grabbing dinner at 6:30 on a Tuesday had us in a room with only two other tables full. Finally the hostess came and took our orders.
>Entrees came. They were good, no complaints, but no one was wowed either.
>The hostess was the only redeeming element of the night. She got our second round of drinks herself, she came and took our dessert order (which she had put on the house). Our server was trying to get us dessert menus two seconds before the desserts actually came out.
Overall extremely unimpressed and would never entertain a client here again. Based on other reviews I thought I was in for a treat!
It is a true delight dining at Loi. The food is amazing. The only difficulty I have is deciding what to order, however, the staff is so knowledgeable and helpful they make it easier. The atmosphere is warm and friendly with an eye to the dinners' privacy. Chef Maria Loi is not only an artist but one who so skillful at cooking healthy, you don't even realize that it is a tremendous benefit of eating there. My wife has an unusual diet, however, Maria and Dara always accommodate. I have never had a disappointing dish at Loi. And I am a regular. Try it, I know you'll love it.
It 's seldom I come out ofa restaurant beieving that I have experienced a truly memorable meal, This time I did.
having researched the food quality it was great to find everything I had read was true. Outstanding food and vey friendly staff. We are going back in two weeks
The food was delicious but the portions very uneven. I had a tiny overpriced vegetarian entree which left me very unsatisfied while my husband had a generously portioned entree.
LOI is a wonderful choice for Greek/ Mediterranean dining. The food and service are outstanding. The branzino is exceptional ! The high quality of the food and presentation is matched by the skilled and friendly staff. My only regret is the noise level interfered with our conversation at times, but unfortunately that is often the price of popularity among Manhattan restaurants. The bottom line is that all of us enjoyed our dinner at LOI immensely, and we agreed to return soon.
Best authentif Greek restaurant in NY. Reminds me of being back in Greece eating my Yiayia's food.
One of the best Branzino's in the city. Loved the healthy authentic approach. Service was helpful, and friendly . Nice menu too.
Food, service, and atmosphere are awesome! The chairs and booth seats are very comfortable.
Great, authentic, Greek food. The lunch special is killer. The octopus is excellent and very different from your standard Milos / Avra grilled octopus. The Chef came around to the tables to say thanks for coming in, which I thought was a nice touch.
Terrific food service and ambiance. Fabulous Greek dining.
Greek food with an attitude. Healthy choices integrated without loss of taste
Best grilled fish I have had in a restaurant. Very courteous staff. Nice tables.
My favorite NYC restaurant. With an AMAZING chef!
Lovely evening. Service was attentive but not overbearing.
This restaurant is truly a two thumbs up. Everything on the menu was fantastic. You can see the chef Loi is dedicated to making each dish a memorable one.
Very hospitable dining experience. Would definitely go back.
Better than Milo's.
Amazing food and even better service! The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming. Highly recommend.
My husband and I had a lovely Sunday lunch time meal - he had the Pink Snapper - delicious and elegantly prepared - lovely service by Nicole and her team. We are from out of town but visit often and would definitely come back.
I dream of the branzino. Always fresh out of the ocean and perfectly prepared.
Maria Loi's presence makes for a family feeling and the food is great ingredients simply prepared yet sophisticated.
Possibly its unassuming location qualifies it for the hidden gem category?
The lunch menu is amazing! Delicious, fresh ingredients, and filled with options for vegetarians, meat and seafood lovers.
The quality of the food, the service and atmosphere are perfect for a quiet business meeting, drinks and dinner after work and even a date.
Meeting Maria Loi, the owner, was the cherry on the cake. She made sure to talk and check with every single one of her customers and everyone seemed to love chatting with her.
My wine and I had a great dinner. We both ordered the Branzino and it was the best we ever had. The Chef - Maria Loi - was very nice stopping at the tables, talking food and wine. We would definitely go back.
Fresh, fresh delicious food. Welcoming and eager to describe the food on the menu.
This was our second visit to Loi and everything was wonderful as always!
Food & service top notch!
Sad we missed Chef Loi this time around!
Till next time!
We went there on our NYC vacation this week, based on hearing good things from the Ryan and Kelly show. We were not disappointed. The service by Nicole was outstanding. The food was SO delicious. We loved the yogurt spread appetizer they started us with, that we ordered a 2nd one. The Greek salad and lamb chops were delicious and the shrimp pasta was unique but so flavorful. This was one of the most enjoyable meals we had all week in NYC.
Excellent food and atmosphere with such a friendly staff. Great dinner.
Outstanding food and the chef always takes personal interest in making sure her patrons are happy. Food is terrific and lots of it!
I went here with my family (8 people total) to celebrate my college graduation. I was rushed to reserve a restaurant, and searched all over yelp on the bus ride to the ceremony. Several people had rated it very well, so I reserved online. I was really shocked they had room for 8 people and was worried they would pack us in a cramped, awkward space.
Once we got there, I was so pleasantly surprised! It was very busy, but not too loud. We were sat in a very comfortable area in the back for larger groups. The waitresses that we interacted with were so great - they recommended delicious dishes and were authentic Greek women. The chef came out twice to roam the floor and ask how everything was going. They do not fry food there, so there food is incredibly fresh and light. The price range was worth how good the food was. We got appetizer, entrees, and dessert. And while we were super full by the end, it still didn't feel heavy in our stomachs (again, so light and fresh!).
This place was a last minute reservation and became one of my families favorite restaurants. I highly recommend for a date night or special occasion in the evenings.
P.S. My mom made a delicious soup with the leftovers. The gift that keeps on giving.
This was outstanding food. Best Greek found outside of Greece. The service was impeccable. The chef Maria Loi spent 15 minutes at the end of the night talking to my son about his college graduation and impending career. This has a wonderful ambience to it on top of the fresh authentic food
Fantastic, authentic cuisine from Chef Maria Loi. Maria carefully watches over the kitchen and still finds time to visit dining guests to make sure they are having a wonderful experience. It is a great experience on every level. I hosted family, and they were all very impressed!
Hands down the best Greek restaurant I have been to! Quality and presentation of food is absolutely amazing! Service, staff and ambiance is out of this world!
Very inviting staff and chef (at the door!) and wonderful, creative Mediterranean cuisine.
We felt as if we were in the chef's dining room at home. Thank you!
This is a wonderful restaurant. I've been twice and I felt like I was a welcomed guest in a Greek home both times. Chef Maria Loi greeted me at door both visits. I was so clueless I had no idea that she was the chef on my first visit. Everyone is charming, the beautiful Brazilian and Italian waitress behind the bar, Jacqueline, the Texas business partner, everyone. They all made it feel like they were one big family, and I was an honored guest. If you're looking for the lost art of customer service and the great tradition of wonderful healthy Greek cuisine, look no further. Loi is the epitome. I've had the octopus. It was off the chain. I've had the Branzino. It was fabulous. I've had three Lamb Shank. It's awesome and properly proportioned. I've had the Greek yogurt ice cream with honey and walnuts. It was amazing. Finally, I've shared a glass of Porto Carass with Maria. I couldn't ask for more. It has all been simply wonderful.
go there once a month and keep enjoying the food and ambiance. Loi is the perfect hostess. Too bad there were no lambchops
Greek pride reigns here where Chef Loi has become a national ambassador for Greek cuisine. The accent here is on healthy ingredients in traditional dishes with a home-cooking feel. Nothing too fancy or innovative -- just solid, well-prepared meals. The atmo is a little spare and the room feels almost unfinished; it could use better lighting.
Loi is one of our favorites. It has never disappointed. We bring business clients, close friends and family here all the time. It is a gem!
We had a great time and excellent food and superb service. The only problem is that the restaurant is a bit on the tight side. It is very narrow and the noise level (including our table's) is quite high. I would recommend it highly.
