Logan - An American Restaurant
Food was very good
When I made the reservation I should had been very explicit about the table, the 2 top they sat us at was very hard to have a conversation, but the waiter did his best and relocated us
And I thank him for going out of his way to make it a much better experience
Food was very good
Service was great
Went there for a post-Valentine dinner as we couldn't get the reservation time we needed for 2/14. Also, we had been there for Restaurant Week in January 2019 and loved it. We wanted to experience a regular menu. Again, we had a wonderful mean, and as luck would have it, the same excellent servier, Zied. Everything was delicious, nicely paced and proportioned. We look forward to going there again!
We can be in NYC; Boston; London; Paris; Rome. But the best meals there are measured by the standard of Logan. And while some come close, none has raised the bar above our Ann Arbor gem. Our best moments are spent here.
Special Valentines menu was delicious, filling, and a nice value. The stuffed quail was a highlight. The wine pairing was a good match. Top notch Ann Arbor restaurant.
Set 5 course menu for Valentine's Day, great presentation, great wine pairings, just fabulous food and service. Going back again soon.
Valentine’s Day was awesome here. We want to come back asap
Great food and ambiance. Did the tasting menu paired with the wine flights (great job Kevin). Have been coming here several years and always have a wonderful experience. Our waiter this time seemed a bit inexperienced and disorganized, but we typically have great service.
We hadn’t been to Logan for far too long, and we were happy to go back and see that it’s still the delicious, attentive, remarkable place we remember. There are some new items on the menu which are great, and our old favorites are there and still as good as we remember. Service was wonderful, just enough attention but plenty of space. Wine list is great. Atmosphere is elegant and comfortable equally. So great to see the owners there as usual, still friendly and attending to details!
We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server and sommelier were attentive and answered all questions/requests. My wife had the Scallops and thoroughly enjoyed them. I had the Shrimp & Grits and they were the best I’ve ever had. Plating and presentation were outstanding. I would have to nit pick to find anything wrong with the dining experience at Logan. We have a return visit planned soon.
Logan is reliably the best restaurant in Ann Arbor
Logan is one of our favorite restaurants. It is a must in our family for birthdays, anniversaries, or just because we want a great meal!
Great food and a lovely evening. Kevin, the sommelier, is very helpful and had a great wine recommendation for us.
This is a relatively small place - only about 15 tables. There is also a small bar - 4 seats. We did have to wait about 15 minutes after our reservation time as our table was still occupied. The noise level is fairly high. Service is excellent. It was recommended we order everything at once so they could set the timing. We did and they did. No excessively long waits for anything. Water and alcoholic drinks were refilled promptly. We had duck fritters, lamb dumplings and asparagus tempura to start. Everything was eaten in a flash. Hard to say what was best, but I'd probably go with the lamb dumplings.
They have two serving sizes of most dishes - petite and full. One person in our party got the scallop chowder and loved it. I got a petite order of the shrimp tagliatelle. It was great, very nicely seasoned and a bit spicy. The main dishes we sampled were uniformly excellent: greek lamb, duck breast special, duck confit and quail. It might have been the best lamb I've ever had. Portion sizes were good - not too much or too little.
Dessert brought us milk and cookies, chocolate mouse and brownie with pistachio ice cream. I heard no complaints.
As we finished with tea and coffee, no one was hovering to see when we would leave. The owner/chef made regular rounds to talk to diners. The bill, including about 10 drinks (wine and mixed), was in line, about $110/person, including tip.
Reservations on bust nights would be a must.
Only been a couple times but excellent each time! Amazing cocktails, excellent wine knowledge. Love that they offer half portions, allows more exploration of menu! Not inexpensive but completely worth it.
The food was innovative and delicious. The menu has a good mix of trendsetters and traditional flavors, so there are multiple appetizers, smalls and meals everyone will love. Many dishes can be ordered in petite size for sharing or meal size for the small plate averse. Kevin and his featured red wine were wonderful. We ordered two appetizers and two petite dishes plus desserts and a bottle of wine. At no point were we hurried and we enjoyed lingering over the meal. This was a perfect date night.
Six food snobs had dinner at Logan for the first time, and every one of us was perfectly satisfied with everything, which is unheard of. The food, wine, service, and ambiance were all excellent, exceeding our snooty expectations. We wouldn't have had to spend as much money as we did, because the menu is very accessible, offering two portion sizes for many items, but we wanted all the food we could get, right through dessert, because it was all so good. All of the waitstaff was attentive and responsive and knowledgeable of the food, wine, and bar. Five stars aren't enough.
Delicious food. We had the duck confit and a pasta sampler. Service was excellent, including our server helping make recommendations and being highly attentive.
Enjoyed the atmosphere. Food and menu were excellent. Good service and advice on the wine. Food service was fairly slow.
Definitely a MUST! The food is excellent. Kevin was such a great help with picking our wine. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I have dinned at Logans twice prior to this time. Always enjoyed the food and variety of specialty selection on the menu. I always appreciated the generous portions. All of this has changed. Often what was requested the waiter indicated it was not available. The portions were so small we left hungry and we had dessert. The asparagus had no flavor and tasted like wood. The duck fritter was tasteless as were the cheese grits.
Creative and delicious food
I usually love Logan -- this particular evening they were off their game. Service and food were ok this time, but not up to Logan's usual standards -- perhaps they were overwhelmed with volume from Restaurant Week. My biggest complaint was the very cold draft at our table every time someone opened the door. Logan needs to find some way to buffer the effects so its dining patrons aren't uncomfortable.
Logan is always a home run. The food is excellent and interesting
Ambiance, food, and service were all exceptional. Great restaurant!
Lovely first time at Logan! The waiter was very nice and friendly and the food was a great deal for AA Restaurant Week!
Ann Arbor gem! Food is amazing and staff are 1st class. Top of the list!!
Another great experience for Restaurant Week here, and the courses complimented each other perfectly (along with the wine pairings). The only slight thing I noticed was the atmosphere was a little rushed...but based on the quality and number of customers, I'm not too surprised.
The food is fabulous, that being said the decor and atmosphere is not up to a high standard. Its not at all cozy and also is very loud. If I go out for a fine dining experience and my chair is next to a wall of coats that does not ooze charm. An interior makeover and this could be the hottest place in town.
Logan is my favorite. I wanted to go there for a belated birthday celebration, and it was restaurant week.
My second time here and I just loved it. Both times happened to be during Restaurant Week in Ann Arbor. The hostess was very welcoming. The menu contained items that were prepared with care and imagination. Our waiter was the best! He would pace bringing out the next course while we finished enjoying the last of the first and second flights of wine. His wine recommendations were spot on. The white tablecloths and soft candles gave the surroundings a simple elegance. My date and I had a lovely glow from the wine, the service, and our leisurely conversation while we ate wonderful food. Thank you. We will be back.
Consistently excellent food and service. Diverse menu.
Overall the service is good most times we eat there, however this time was exceptional. And I don't mean it in a good way. We arrived on time for our reservation, as we were celebrating a Birthday. We were greeted by the hostess and seated at our table without any recognition of the Birthday. This wouldn't be the first time that it was overlooked (including other restaurants), so we let it go. However, our server did not come to the table for approximately 15 minutes. When he approached our table, he asked us if we wanted something to drink. He never introduced himself nor did we even know he was our server. I asked him if he was our server and he says "yes, I am" and I told him "oh, I never thought you would arrive to our table." His immediate response,"we've been very busy and things are now starting to slow down". Really?! Totally unprofessional, irrelevant, and this restaurant only seats maybe 50-60 people! Don't quote me on that, however it's a very small restaurant. We mentioned a Birthday celebration and asked questions regarding the menu items and the server seemed to be very knowledgeable when it came to that. However, throughout the evening and when we received our bill, we never heard a single Happy Birthday from the server! I found that very odd since we had mentioned it in our conversation with him. As a matter of fact, he did not even offer a Birthday dessert. Service was just ok (I only say that because he was knowledgeableof the menu) but the food is usually very good (thankfully that's what brings us back). If you can overlook the service and pricey menu, than I highly recommended Logan. The unfortunate thing is we notice a high turnover of servers at this restaurant from our own experience of going there for the last 5 years! It's definitely expected in this type of industry and we understand. Let's hope our next visit will be better!
We went for my husband’s 50th birthday dinner and had the 5 course tasting menu and wine flight. The food and wine were perfect from start to finish, and the service was incredible as well. Thank you, Logan, for a beautiful dining experience.
Dinner dragged. Somm was unnecessarily stressed. Refused to answer a simple question. Must be hard to pour wine for 35 people.
The New Year's Eve menu was very good. The wine flight was amazing. Great atmosphere, great people. Very enjoyable.
Waited an hour for a one drink. Waited over 3 hours for the meal to be completed. Clearly not prepared for nye.
Our second New Years celebration at Logan. We were afraid it wouldn't live up to our first experience and we were thrilled that it surpassed it! The food is imaginative but accessible - incredible combinations of flavors and textures. Wine pairings were sublime. Service attentive and unobtrusive. Best restaurant in Ann Arbor.
The food is incredible, the drinks delicious, and Raleigh on bar (and who has designed many of the cocktails) is a delight. This is our new go-to place.
Creative food, very attentive staff, and Kevin is very knowledgeable about wine.
