Logan - An American Restaurant
We had a lovely evening at Logan. The food was delicious and I was so excited to eat my leftovers later that evening! A chill vibe, with delectable tastes in every bite of every dish.
Always enjoy good food.
The new menu was fabulous. Every morsel perfect. And our server was outstanding.
Enjoyed the new menu. Many delicious dishes. We tried the tasting menu to sample as much as possible.
We also took a flight of wines and enjoyed the and Kevin's descriptions imensely.
The best tasting food in Ann Arbor again and again.
From New York City and just dropped our son off for his freshman year at UofM. Spent total of seven nights this summer in Ann Arbor and tried all the so-called “best” in Ann Arbor list. Logan is far and away the best. The chef was trained at New York City’s famed Lespinasse, and it shows. Every dish is complex and inventive. Menu is a mad scientist mix of cuisines and flavors. The beef short rib was among the best I’ve ever had. Shrimp and grits with a Mexican mole sauce - who thinks of that! Gnocchi pesto - again maybe the best I’ve ever had, even in Italy. Some waitstaff are students and so not perfect professional grade, but everyone is friendly, earnest and helpful. You are made to feel appreciated and comfortable. The Chef came out and chatted with us and was engaging and humble. This is hands down our favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor. Not to be missed.

perfectly with the skate dish. The chocolate mousse for dessert was wonderful!
Outstanding in every way possible. Other than too noisy (2 large tables) is was absolutely perfect.
Had a great experience, tried the tasting menu, and while most were things that I wouldn't have ordered, all were very good. I particularly loved the scallops!
We had a reservation at 6:30, arrived on time and the place was about 1/2 the capacity. We ordered a glass of wine and studied the menu for a few minutes and ordered. We got our food one hour later. A fish soup that was already prepared and a 30 dollar pork chop.
Food and service were spectacular. Unquestionably the best in Ann Arbor. The sommelier Kevin deserves kudos for expert assistance in matching wines with our meals.
This was our second visit to Logan. We had a great conversation at the bar with Raleigh and Kevin. Raleigh's cocktails and house made ingredients are phenomenal and Kevin's wine knowledge is amazing. The wait staff is super attentive.
Excellent food, quality cocktails. We ate our way through the menu, and it was reasonably priced for the quality.
Excellent food prepared to perfection. Great choices and now offering a petite or full serving which we loved it allowed us to try more foods on the menu. Pasta was as good as any we had in Italy and his scallops are Devine.
A truly great dining experience: knowledgeable staff: great wines: even better food. We felt like royalty.
Logan has (finally) changed their menu a bit and it is an improvement. The smaller portion option appeals to us geezers. They have maintained the quality of the food. I find the dessert menu boring but otherwise it is an excellent special occasion restaurant.
Expensive but the food was interesting and delicious. Cocktails have really improved and suggested wine pairings were spot on. A very nice evening out for a special occasion.
The food was delicious. The chef is amazing with a potato dish that was new to us (which isn't easy!). 3.25 hours for three courses - worth every minute, but obviously don't expect to get in and out quickly.

Food was really great. Interesting and diverse menu. Loved the half course pasta and my dinner special "trout". Staff was very friendly but we just seemed to have confusion getting our drinks or wine, nothing serious to complain about. Will go back again for sure.
Great food. We had the scallops which were one of the most creative I’ve had. Short rib was outstanding. Go eat there!!!

Outstanding service as always. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday. The food was amazing- the true expression of a great chef! The ambience was beautiful as usual. Kevin matched our courses with wine perfectly. Going back to Logan is like spending time with an old friend, never disappoints and you can catch up on the new elements of a great menu. A perfect evening!

We had heard for years about how great this restaurant was, so were excited to finally go there for a birthday. Our response is, to quote Public Enemy, "don't believe the hype." One of the party (of 4) did not think that the meal was that good, two thought the Thai scallops were great, and one thought that the confit of duck leg, while good, certainly did not match the claims of the results of the 10-hour process; it was like a good roasted duck leg (the sides accompanying it were highly praised, however). Two different desserts were shared by the two pairs of people, and they were both extremely good. A cheese appetizer was interesting, but could have benefited from a couple of crackers or flatbread pieces. Even with an awareness of the prices going in, the meal did not come across as a good value-5 scallops in the Thai scallops dish came out to $8/scallop, which is a lot, even considering the very good sauce accompanying them.
The main failing of Logan on our visit was the service, which cannot be characterized as anything but lousy. It took 20+ minutes to get served drinks after ordering (just over a dozen tables were staffed by 3 servers; two additional people were behind the bar, plus a manager/sommelier). Salads and entrees came in a little more timely fashion, but this struck all in the party as a real failing of the establishment. The entrees were somewhat tepid when they arrived.
All things considered, we will not be returning to Logan.
As usual, Logan is a great place to have dinner. Excellent menu, well prepared dishes, very good wine list, and a very comfortable and not too noisy ambience. On this visit, with the restaurant very crowded (probably due to the vintage car show outside) the service was much slower than usual....but still very friendly and caring. Logan is an Ann Arbor gem, and a very cozy, friendly, and tasty place to have a great meal!
Food was fantastic and service very good. Would recommend for date night. Try the shrimp and grits....sooo good. The trout was perfect as well.
Logan has been our favorite local restaurant for many years, and we go there to celebrate our anniversary and other special occasions. I'm sad to say that this time it didn't live up to our expectations. First we had cocktails which were new and good. I ordered the crab and avocado starter which has been on the menu in some form for many years. This time the crab salad tasted of not much other than crab - no punch from the mustard - and actually a little fishy. Disappointing. For entrees, I also thought the scallops tasted a little fishy this time. I enjoyed the fried perch, though my husband disliked the sauce and the side papaya salad had a little too much fish sauce which made it very salty. The dining room also had some unpleasant aromas that evening (but not sure what exactly). The wines, as picked by the sommelier to go with our chosen dishes, were excellent and the pairings spot on as always. We will probably try again one more time - for the price, the entire experience really needs to be outstanding to keep us coming back.
Fantastic food and presentation, although some of the portions were a bit small; absolutely loved the fennel pollen creme brûlée! Our entrees included duck, quail, salmon, walleye and wild boar.
Sommelier was awesome, recommended wines for us based on our entrees and he was spot on!
Our party of 6 was promptly seated, excellent cocktails. Waitress was attentive but not intrusive and we did not feel rushed (spent 3 hours with our friends). 4 of us were celebrating birthdays and we each had a complimentary dessert. The chef came by our table and was very conversational, friendly, informative and engaging.
We were blown away by the quality of food - right from the amuse-bouche, to the parmesan & rosemary scones to the fried perch and chocolate mousse, we loved every bite and the wine complimented the food beautifully as well.
Well-worth the price and the service was great. I think it's a hidden gem in downtown Ann Arbor. We were there with my parents for my husband's birthday and we all agreed that it was by far one of the best meals we've had in North America in the past year +.
We will be going back asap :)
The food and the service is always great at Logan’s. I like that it is a small restaurant that showcases the food and customer experience.

We visited for restaurant week. Service was attentive and accurate but a bit cold; we didn't feel very welcome. Food was pretty good but not amazing or particularly creative.
Logan continues to offer creative, well-prepared food. The staff is knowledgeable and pleasant and management helps out during crunches. Has a small outdoor seating area. One of my favorites!
