Logan - An American Restaurant
Great vibe, helpful and friendly staff, good food. Especially like that you can get half portions of most entrees. Flavor combinations don't always hit the mark, and some dishes need more seasoning. Overall, it's very good. Looking forward to going back!
Very overpriced, even for Ann Arbor. There is no way that a NY Strip should be $50.00
Would definitely go back!
We had a nice time at Logan’s for dinner. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We LOVE the bartender Raleigh. The drinks were awesome. My only complaint was the food. I liked my dish but my husband didn’t like his. we got the petite portions but I’ll get the full next time. Regardless, it probably won’t keep us from coming back though
Fabulous dinner! Outstanding, personable service, great variety of food choices and excellent preparation.
Loved having a sommelier come chat with me about wine and food pairing.
Intimate restaurant with great food, based on American classics. We ordered two appetizers, asparagus tempura and crab bruschetta, both excellent, and I'll try to make the asparagus at home. Our two main courses, shrimp and grits and the trout, were delicious and big enough for leftovers. The bread pudding dessert was VG too, although I'm not a dessert person. All this comes with very helpful sommelier, who nicely paired our meal with a great white Burgundy.
Service was friendly and courteous as we waited for the balance of our party. Food was outstanding and the atmosphere readily allowed for table conversation. Nice wine list and the bottle arrived at the correct temperature, not “cellar chilled” which causes one to delay consumption. Solid experience beginning to end.
One of the best dining experiences in Ann Arbor, hands down. Never disappoints!
My wife and I have eaten at Logan several times over the past five years. On each occasion, we have enjoyed outstanding food and professional service. The menu has remained fairly consistent over that period of time. It is always pleasing to go to a restaurant and know that the meal you enjoyed previously is still being prepared. At Logan, such dishes include duck confit, Thai scallops, braised short ribs, and the pasta Bolognese. These mainstays are bolstered by thoughtful specials. On this particular visit my wife had Thai scallops and I had the Bolognese. Each was prepared perfectly. Our server was knowledgeable and the wine steward, Kevin, was both helpful and engaging. No surprises here, just great food, great service, and the happy knowledge that Logan has maintained this excellence throughout its history.
Wife and I now in our mid-sixties have been sometimes slighted by the downtown Ann Arbor establishments.
Gladly, our dining at Logan was quite the opposite. From the thoughtful hostess claiming our coats to the excellent service from the wait staff we felt welcomed like old friends.
The Arugula Pesto Gnocchi and Walleye with Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Lemon Grass & Blue Crab Sauce were superb. I particularly liked the well-made manhattan and the Sauv Blanc fit the meal perfectly. The mousse dessert was very tasty though surprisingly firm. For those who may remember the Amaretto Mousse served by the old Maude's place, this was a faint echo of that divine treat. We look forward to our next outing at Logan in the days to come.
My wife and I eat out about 4 to 5 times a week. It was our first time at Logan. They were different in a great way. I highly recommend the Crab Avocado Toast for starters. I was really surprised at the freshnest and pop of taste for an appetizer compared with the run of the mill other restaurants appetizers. We had a wonderful experience and will be back.
As usual, the service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. This is our favorite restaurant!
Always delicious. We have multiple favorite dishes on the menu which sometimes makes it hard to choose. But we always enjoy it. And our service was great!
As always - a first class restaurant. Inventive food preparation and presentation, attentive professional service and a warm welcoming atmosphere.
We have never had a bad meal at Logan. The servers are friendly and efficient without being annoying. Kevin knows his wine. It's a great place to go for special occasions and a just a great place when you want a great meal
Got the Thai Scallops and OMG they were so good. It is a bit pricey but the flavor was to die for. My fiance got the Wild Boar Pasta and he said that was amazing too. Great service as well. Will return for sure.
Food was very good
When I made the reservation I should had been very explicit about the table, the 2 top they sat us at was very hard to have a conversation, but the waiter did his best and relocated us
And I thank him for going out of his way to make it a much better experience
Food was very good
Service was great
Went there for a post-Valentine dinner as we couldn't get the reservation time we needed for 2/14. Also, we had been there for Restaurant Week in January 2019 and loved it. We wanted to experience a regular menu. Again, we had a wonderful mean, and as luck would have it, the same excellent servier, Zied. Everything was delicious, nicely paced and proportioned. We look forward to going there again!
We can be in NYC; Boston; London; Paris; Rome. But the best meals there are measured by the standard of Logan. And while some come close, none has raised the bar above our Ann Arbor gem. Our best moments are spent here.
Special Valentines menu was delicious, filling, and a nice value. The stuffed quail was a highlight. The wine pairing was a good match. Top notch Ann Arbor restaurant.
Set 5 course menu for Valentine's Day, great presentation, great wine pairings, just fabulous food and service. Going back again soon.
We went for the St. Valentine's special menu. The menu was very creative. We enjoyed all the choices. Food and service were excellent.
Valentine’s Day was awesome here. We want to come back asap
Great food and ambiance. Did the tasting menu paired with the wine flights (great job Kevin). Have been coming here several years and always have a wonderful experience. Our waiter this time seemed a bit inexperienced and disorganized, but we typically have great service.
We hadn’t been to Logan for far too long, and we were happy to go back and see that it’s still the delicious, attentive, remarkable place we remember. There are some new items on the menu which are great, and our old favorites are there and still as good as we remember. Service was wonderful, just enough attention but plenty of space. Wine list is great. Atmosphere is elegant and comfortable equally. So great to see the owners there as usual, still friendly and attending to details!
We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server and sommelier were attentive and answered all questions/requests. My wife had the Scallops and thoroughly enjoyed them. I had the Shrimp & Grits and they were the best I’ve ever had. Plating and presentation were outstanding. I would have to nit pick to find anything wrong with the dining experience at Logan. We have a return visit planned soon.
Logan is reliably the best restaurant in Ann Arbor
Logan is one of our favorite restaurants. It is a must in our family for birthdays, anniversaries, or just because we want a great meal!
Great food and a lovely evening. Kevin, the sommelier, is very helpful and had a great wine recommendation for us.
This is a relatively small place - only about 15 tables. There is also a small bar - 4 seats. We did have to wait about 15 minutes after our reservation time as our table was still occupied. The noise level is fairly high. Service is excellent. It was recommended we order everything at once so they could set the timing. We did and they did. No excessively long waits for anything. Water and alcoholic drinks were refilled promptly. We had duck fritters, lamb dumplings and asparagus tempura to start. Everything was eaten in a flash. Hard to say what was best, but I'd probably go with the lamb dumplings.
They have two serving sizes of most dishes - petite and full. One person in our party got the scallop chowder and loved it. I got a petite order of the shrimp tagliatelle. It was great, very nicely seasoned and a bit spicy. The main dishes we sampled were uniformly excellent: greek lamb, duck breast special, duck confit and quail. It might have been the best lamb I've ever had. Portion sizes were good - not too much or too little.
Dessert brought us milk and cookies, chocolate mouse and brownie with pistachio ice cream. I heard no complaints.
As we finished with tea and coffee, no one was hovering to see when we would leave. The owner/chef made regular rounds to talk to diners. The bill, including about 10 drinks (wine and mixed), was in line, about $110/person, including tip.
Reservations on bust nights would be a must.
Only been a couple times but excellent each time! Amazing cocktails, excellent wine knowledge. Love that they offer half portions, allows more exploration of menu! Not inexpensive but completely worth it.
The food was innovative and delicious. The menu has a good mix of trendsetters and traditional flavors, so there are multiple appetizers, smalls and meals everyone will love. Many dishes can be ordered in petite size for sharing or meal size for the small plate averse. Kevin and his featured red wine were wonderful. We ordered two appetizers and two petite dishes plus desserts and a bottle of wine. At no point were we hurried and we enjoyed lingering over the meal. This was a perfect date night.
Six food snobs had dinner at Logan for the first time, and every one of us was perfectly satisfied with everything, which is unheard of. The food, wine, service, and ambiance were all excellent, exceeding our snooty expectations. We wouldn't have had to spend as much money as we did, because the menu is very accessible, offering two portion sizes for many items, but we wanted all the food we could get, right through dessert, because it was all so good. All of the waitstaff was attentive and responsive and knowledgeable of the food, wine, and bar. Five stars aren't enough.
Delicious food. We had the duck confit and a pasta sampler. Service was excellent, including our server helping make recommendations and being highly attentive.
Enjoyed the atmosphere. Food and menu were excellent. Good service and advice on the wine. Food service was fairly slow.
Definitely a MUST! The food is excellent. Kevin was such a great help with picking our wine. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I have dinned at Logans twice prior to this time. Always enjoyed the food and variety of specialty selection on the menu. I always appreciated the generous portions. All of this has changed. Often what was requested the waiter indicated it was not available. The portions were so small we left hungry and we had dessert. The asparagus had no flavor and tasted like wood. The duck fritter was tasteless as were the cheese grits.
Creative and delicious food
I usually love Logan -- this particular evening they were off their game. Service and food were ok this time, but not up to Logan's usual standards -- perhaps they were overwhelmed with volume from Restaurant Week. My biggest complaint was the very cold draft at our table every time someone opened the door. Logan needs to find some way to buffer the effects so its dining patrons aren't uncomfortable.
