The service was great. We asked to be moved as it was cold where we were seated. They moved us with no issues. The food was wonderful and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wishes a nice meal for a great price.
We met for lunchm The Chinese chicken salad was excellent. The service was great too.
The food was cooked to perfection! Have had issues with my filet steak and they have always made good on it, but this time they nailed on the first try! Kudos to the chef!
Great Cuban sandwich.
Excellent as always. I keep going back for all special occasions. Great food, excellent service.
We made reservations prior to our show at SJ Improv, which is two doors down the street. We enjoyed a great dinner with drinks and appetizers. The steak bites are delicious and the Calamari was light and crisp. I had the Chinese Chicken Salad which was very good and a large portion. We will be back to try more items on menu.
We are planing our 40th High school Reunion and thought to check out this centrally located venue for our group of 100+. While the Banquet / Large Party menu items were NOT on the daily dinner menu, they were more than happy to accommodate us, serving our potential sections for the Reunion.
The staff was very pleasant, attentive and not intrusive, perfect service ! Our server was knowledgable, friendly, eager to serve us...refreshing !
All in all, a great, affordable venue, with a variety of food choices, full bar and excellent service... The Reunion WILL BE HERE !
Despite the recent negative reviews, we enjoyed ourselves! I don't think the people who gave the negative reviews really gave this place a chance. We were greeted with the friendliest of smiles. The service is great. We tried food in every category on the menu. The appetizers were the perfect amount to start our experience. We brought our kids with us and instead of ordering from the kids menu split the tri-tip sliders & added a side of shoestring onion rings between them. The salad was fresh and abundant. Our main course was very fulling. I ordered the bistro filet & my husband the chicken marsala. The sides were seasoned well and delicious. We finished every bite. Even though we consumed a large amount of food already, we opted to have dessert. Creme brûlée & lava cake were a very nice touch to finish the meal. We won't hesitate to return. Thanks for a great time!
We had reservations for a birthday party and everything went great. Service was very good and accommodating!! Would definitely recommend!!
The building is beautiful, the staff are attentive, but the menu is too extensive and nothing is of particular note. I'd much rather see the chefs focus on a few things done phenomenally well rather than dozens of things done okay. There are few customers and it had me thinking how do they keep all of the ingredients they need fresh?
This place should really be so much better. The space looks dilapidated. The food is fine, but nothing to rave about. It should be a perfect place for a local resident or business traveler to enjoy a simple meal. But, the kicker is really the lack of service. I had a reservation, and waited to be greeted for about 5 minutes. The entire upstairs of the restaurant was closed. So, it was hardly busy. There was a total lack of service. After being seated, it was another 10 minutes before anyone approached the table to see what we wanted. The entire meal was like that. No matter how perfectly tasty something is, bad service is what really leaves a patron with a "bad taste in their mouth."
We ate outside on their deck after a matinee performance. We were the first ones on the deck at 6:30 on a Sunday. It took awhile for service but once we ordered everything was great. Good food - excellent sauces. It helped that the weather was perfect.
The delicious dishes and atmosphere
Food was average to tasteless. Service was given begrudgingly. Will not visit again.
A decent restaurant. Not too expensive. Parking is a problem.
Perhaps my expectations were too high. I found the decor tired. The menu was long, which to me is a red flag. It is hard to offer so many dishes with fresh preparations and crisp execution, when you have too many items/entres. the food was okay. Some things better than others. But in reality, it was just a step better than a chain. We were looking for something a little more sophisticated in downtown San Jose. We probably could have done better at the hotel. I would not classify this place as a bistro.
I would not recommend this place. The staff at the bar is rude, the place is in dire need of an upgrade (hint, the paper towel holder in the men's room was held together by masking tape). Their food was mediocre and wine list was mediocre. We won't be back.
Excellent Quality Food
Service was mediocre because when I complained about a problem with a mixed drink having moldy mint used, it came back again the same way. Entree was warm not hot
great food - great service... food came right away and our server was very attentive, checking on us off & on. my niece recommended this place and I like. plenty of parking across the street and on the corner. totally recommend!
The food was good. The server keyed in part of the order incorrectly causing a delay in my dish, but the she and the staff were attentive enough to make sure i had some soup and that I was ok. Their attentiveness more than made up for the delay. I'd dine here again.
A friend and I ate at the Loft Bar and Bistro early on a Tuesday night before a concert at St. Joseph's. We shared 2 not so small plates and a salad. The food was great. We had crab cakes, and grilled skewered shrimp, and salad. The crab cakes are sauteed and covered in butter sauce, so they weren't crispy, which I prefer, but the flavor was great. The grilled shrimp were just perfect. They have 3 different shrimp dishes on the small plates menu. The service was friendly and personal, and the owner came over to speak to us as well. It was quiet there early, but later after the concert, there were folks sitting both inside and out. We will certainly return.
Service was good but *VERY* slow. But, as always, food was worth the wait
Went here for lunch on a Saturday and sat at the bar until my date arrived, and bartender Sylvia was very engaging and fun. When my date arrived we were seated right away and lunch was very good, great service from Sylvia who was attentive, not intrusive, and we were never rushed. All in all a great experience.
We were met in the restaurant by a staff member who did not save us table when we had a reservation. She sat two others ahead of us without a reseervation at lunch and then the inside as full. We were stuck outside by the street so we could'nt hear anything due to the large buses.( We , thus had to eat fumes for lunch.), We waited for a long time to order. (Of course , they took the order of the next table first , when they had been seated after us). The salad I had was ok. The meat loaf my business associate had was good. Overall, not a very great experiance.
Great dishes, good mixture of food to excite the taste buds. I had the pork tenderloin w mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. The pork tenderloin sauce was a good flavor. A good mixture of veggies, loved the beets, nice twist to a restuarant staple. My wfe had the ahi tuna. Very good, even from a fish hater like myself! Her sides were sauteed spinach/mushrooms and veggie rice. Again a new twist to sauteed spinach that worked well.
The host was very friendly and accommodating.
The service was not it's usual but we know it is not typical.
The dishes were tasty and we enjoy the environment.
They can accommodate large groups and the food are delicious!
We didn't have a lot of time, so it was a great place to enjoy a good meal with a close relative.
The food is expensive for an old run down restaurant. They need to put some $ back into the place. It's worn out. The menu is the dated. Not anything special for what they are charging.
My wife and I went to the Loft on a cold and rainy evening last Saturday. The table we were given was right by the door. Each time someone entered or left a cold breeze chilled us. The people in the table next to us were wearing their jackets. The tables were crammed into a very limited floor space. As one person passed our table they bumped into our bread basket. It would have been hard not to bump our table.
The wait staff was excellent. Bread was refilled when it became empty. Drinks were offered immediately. The hostess was friendly. The waitress was helpful with menu selections.
The food was not nearly as good as we were expecting. My wife had lamb in penne pasta. She indicated that the sauce did no service to the meal. My entre was lasagna. Perhaps that was not a great choice on my part. But, I love lasagna. The lasagna was fair, certainly not memorable.
For dessert we had their lava cake which was excellent. The whipped cream on top could have been more authentic.
In addition to our waitress, two other people asked how our dinner was. One may have been the owner. We did not complain or offer any type of feedback. That may not have been completely forthcoming but at the end of the meal there was nothing that could have been done anyway. I do applaud the employees for wanting to please their customers.
Our server Nicole, is great. She remembers what wine my group and I like. She is also very attentive and a pleasure to see.
We had a great time celebrating my mom's 75th birthday. The whole staff was awesome. Our server was very sweet and accommodated our every whim. I wish I could remember her name so she'd know how much we appreciated her. We all really enjoyed our meals and the attention we received.
Went here for our 6 year anniversary last weekend and it was probably, no joke, the best meal I've had in the longest I can remember. The wait for our food was kind of long because they had a big party, but because the service was so great and the atmosphere was so nice, we really didn't mind at all. And plus, the food was so worth the wait!
Definitely need to come here more often, it's always a great experience!
Don't be excited to sit on the roof top. It's not what you think. It's not romantic, and you feel like your in a circus tent. Sit in the main dining room. Very nice with a view outside. Food was excellent. Not pricy for really good food. Service was really great too. We will go back!
Every time we go to the Improv we stop here for a great dinner. I am partial to the Meatloaf which is absolutely fantastic.
They have just about everything you would want for lunch on the menu from salads to steaks!
We were looking forward to eating at this restaurant after looking online. On New Years there was no kids menu and the food quality was mediocre at best. I would not recommend this restaurant to families.
What can I say a perfectly cooked Filet, wonderful service, and great atmosphere! We will be back again and again!
Great place for our party of 13. Food was enjoyable.
