Everyone in the party was quite happy with the food.
The Loft dining area is up a long flight of stairs, but there was an elevator for use by my handicapped companion. The service staff were terrific in all respects...our server was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Food was good...not haute cuisine but enjoyable. We dined on a Sunday night, and the establishment was almost empty, so it was definitely quiet, but the sound equipment next to our table testified to the fact that silence is probably not the norm.
Our server was excellent. Very attentive to everything (i.e. drink glasses refilled, bread replenished) without being asked. One of the people in our party ordered a steak well done but when it was delivered, it was not cooked enough. Our server took it back to the kitchen and brought him back a bowl of soup to eat while waiting for his well done steak. He also was given a free dessert because of the wait. Since it was Sunday, our table received 3 additional desserts - one for each couple, at no charge. That was a very nice surprise! Our dining experience was wonderful, the food was great, and we will definitely return. Thanks so much!
The Loft is really only a good place if you have a large group to go with. Third visit there and it's lackluster. I wouldn't venture far to eat here, but convenient enough so not a bad choice for those who already are downtown.
Great huge menu - almost everything you could imagine is on it and good quality
I enjoy your restaurant and usually dine about once a month when there is a play at Broadway San Jose. I appreciate your pasta specials, good service and your free parking. Very conveniently located. Water, bread, butter and dipping oil is brought almost as soon as we are seated. Very attentive wait staff.
We had a good time at the Loft. Food and drinks were great and service was attentive and friendly. The wait staff and hostess were very nice. We went durning Happy Hour and ordered from the happy hour menu. However when we got the bill all drinks and food were at full price. Maybe it was an oversite... or maybe they were hoping we wouldnt notice (which I didnt until the next day). I called the next night but the manager said that I would have to talk to the owner during the weekday. The lack of integrity on the bill, the lack of desire by the restaurant to fix it, left a bad taste in my mouth. I probably won't be back.
This was my second time at The Loft for dinner. The first was with a large group from work, the second and most recent with 3 other friends. Both times the service was good, they were very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. Smallish dining room on the first floor (second floor was reserved for a large party). Wasn't a busy night so no problem getting seated quickly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends. Can't wait to go back again.
I got treated like I was a regular, and I was just in town for training.
Excellent service, great food & drinks, warm, urban atmosphere
First time at the Loft and I was very pleased. The grilled artichoke was the best I've ever had. The Lamb Leg was cooked to a delicate perfection. The Crusted and Pan seared Ahi salad with mango was a salad lovers delight. Even the "Old Fashioned" was made right (and that is not often the case with this drink!)
I'll be back.
We enjoy Loft Bar & Bistro regularly for special occasions. The food and sevice have alway been very good and the ambiance extraordinary.
We now often opt for the Loft in San Jose rather than our former favorites in San Francisco.
Good food. Enjoyed your Wednesday pasta specials. Didn't feel rushed. Very relaxing. We'll be back. Appreciate free parking, also.
Met a girlfriend for a late dinner and drinks. We sat on the roof top patio, which was very nice, but is coverd, so you can't see much. The chicken quesadillla was ok. Drinks were pretty expensive, but that's "normal". The hostess and waitress were both very nice and attentive, even with a few big parties going on. They turn into a club at ten, so if you don't want too much noise go before then. The clean decor and ambiance were fantastic. Semi-casual or dressy.
Cajun Ahi Tuna was delicious!! Salmon special was also outstanding. Very pleased with our dining experience.
It was good when it came to the dinner service. After dinner wasn't so good.
Great meal. The special of the day was some of the best salmon i've ever had. Great job.
Go for the bars, music and patio
This is the second time my wife and I have dined at The Loft and the experience was just as great as the the first. The staff is wonderful and very on top of things...maybe a little too much but it's a change in regards to other places. A great place to sit back and drink if you just want some quiet time, nice spacious bar and a OK view of downtown...but I'm not paying for the view of downtown I'm paying for a well prepped capers dinner.
I'm glad we found this place! Great food, good drinks, and lovely atmosphere!
Great Service, very professional staff...The Martini's were off the chain!
Outstanding onion strings and they have Guiness on tap, what more could you want? Other food was fine, nothing special. It's a little pricy, but they always seem to have discount coupons.
Food was very good. Service was fast and friendly and it is located next to the Improv so very convenient if going to a show.
The food was great! I loved the reservations on-line option! Very nice touch and user friendly. I had to update from 6:30 pm to 6:00 pm and it was easy. The place was easy to find and parking was nearby with two lots. Couple of Issues: When I made reservations, I asked for the rooftop patio seating. When we arrived, we were seated upstairs inside instead. I didn't ask why because I had never been to this restaurant before and didn't know what to expect. Afterwards, I noticed other customers being seated in the outside patio. Also, I ordered a light beer downstairs while waiting for the rest of my party to arrive and was charged $4, when I ordered a 2nd beer upstairs, I couldn't order the same kind as the first and it was $1 more.
I've gone to Loft Bar & Bistro several times and everytime has been a great experience. Food is wonderful, ambiance is great (indoor and outdoor)and the service has always been outstanding. Everyone that I have taken to the Loft Bar & Bistro loves it. I've gone in large groups (with and without children)and as a romantic evening and I've always left satisfied. Two thumbs up!!
It is always a pleasure to take a break and have a quick bite of lunch up at the bar. Great place! Great people!
we were not very impressed with the food or the rooftop dining. we assummed rooftop dining meant a view of the city, it did not - rather we were in a room with no ceiling. not very pretty.
Great balsamic/olive oil dipping sauce for bread! Lamb Shank was perfect, timing good.
Always a pleasure to get away to the Loft. Brought a business associate, and he was impressed. We'll be back!
Great place for an excellent supper before a show - service was speedy & responsive
We actually had to leave before odering our meal becuase the service and drinks were so poor. Would never recomend this place to anyone.
The service was attentive, and our server split the delicious blue cheese and pear salad.
The sliders were dissapointing. The crab cakes lacked flavor. Will try other items because the service was so good.
Food took forever to get to us.
Loved the food, but I brought a large party that included one 7 year old. With no kids menu the staff promised a bowl of mac and cheese. They brought a tea cup sized "bowl" of pasta. The 7 year old was still hungry!
The service was terrible, the food was overcooked and came out cold, and we had to wait forever for our bill. I was very dissappointed because the food here used to be great!
Was hoping for outside dining in the upstairs patio. It was covered and felt more like an oven than an outdoor freco dining environment. The wait staff was slow and amateurish. Strolled over to Gordon Birsch and had a much better experience!
We were looking forward to a romantic dinner on the rooftop terrace; unfortunately the experience did not meet our expectations. We received our appetizer before our drinks were served, and the steak and avocado wrap came without avocado. The server did the best she could, however food quality was beyond her control. Aesthetically, the place is great, however the rooftop did get very loud.
The brick atmosphere and location make this a great restaurant in downtown San Jose. The service and atmosphere are welcoming and energetic. The food was tasty, but was served luke warm to cold. The chicken in the quesadillas looked like processed cubes and should not have been at that price point. The prawn skewers were in a delicious sauce and very moist. Overall, great atmosphere but I would expect much more from food at this price point.
I just love the loft. When I go there I just know I am going to get a great meal. I am currently on a diet and there was plenty of wonderful looking salad. I had the poached salmon salad. It was amazing. I even lost a little weight.
We came here on a Wednesday night. The room was less than half full but servers hard to find. There is a bar downstairs and a patio on the roof for outdoor dining. The atmosphere is pretty informal and I think this would be a great place to unwind after a shift with a beer or cocktail. I tried the lychee vodka martini and I thought it was pretty refreshing. We started with the carpaccio and a cup of the creme of spinach soup. The soup had a nice spicy bite to it. The carpaccio tasted OK but had an odd slightly brown tint to it so I would not get that again. The braised lamb shank has a REALLY nice glaze and the veggies had a nice flavor and were properly cooked. My wife had the roasted salmon which was OK and had the same veggies.
