I will continue to recommend, hoping that the poor experience we had for lunch will not repeat itself again. We mainly go to dinner at Cielos, this was our first lunch experience, food was great, but took a very long time to arrive, server pointed fingers at the kitchen staff, when it's best just to say, we apologize.
We’ve dined at Cielos many times in the past and always enjoyed it. This evening was underwhelming. The scallop entree we ordered consisted of four grilled scallops set on an extremely small bed of purée. Very disappointing. My husbands one scallop was not cooked and when we mentioned it to the server she apologized. No attempt was made to recover.
I had my first meal with the new chef. The meal was great. Salmon cooked just right, and the veggies were outstanding!
Terrible. They were overwhelmed! I would like my money back. Everyone I talked to was disappointed. What a bad Easter brunch.
The worst Easter brunch ever. Food was sparse and cold on the buffet. No egg station, no sausage, no bacon, things you normally find at a brunch buffet. Only cookies on the dessert table. I asked what time brunch was over and was told 4pm. We arrived at 1pm and the buffet looked like they were about to close it. We had to scrap together a plate. Very few if any vegetarian options, both salads had bacon in them. Food was not labeled. My husband is vegetarian. No drinks were included, and they charged a 20% service change. Will not go back, will not recommend.
Food was average. Food choices were limited. Pre-dinner menu said "assorted desserts",
which consisted of some small colored cookies, a banana-type quick bread , and jelly beans.
I couldn't believe it - jelly beans!!!! No pieces of pie or cake or muffins or donuts.
In comparison to other brunches of that same price, we've had TWICE the food choices and which included at least one mimosa.
I would never come to Cielos again. I feel we were way overcharged for what we got.
Easter brunch. Slow on keeping dishes filled, but food was good. Preferred the fresh oysters; shrimp; smoked salmon and bagels with cream cheese, onions and capers; waffles with multiple toppings; and cookies. Ham and roast beef OK, as were eggs and other hot foods kept in warmers. We also had an agreeable bottle of white wine with our meal.
For a Holiday Easter brunch this was a very disappointing experience. We were one of the first to arrive, the food was luke warm and they were not ready as some warmers had no food. There were several times that the food warmers were empty of food during our hour and a half visit. The so called desert table had raisin bread and cookies. What a joke. The server was not attentive as we sat without a drink refill for a long time. I finally asked another server to assist us.
When in came time for the bill, my card was taken before I saw the bill. I was charged for 6 brunches, there were 3 of us. She not only gave us the wrong bill but also the table next to us. The new chef needs to rethink his holiday brunch menu. No omelet station? Lacking deserts and lacking food for the crowd.
Went to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was such a pleasant surprise. The decor was lovely, the staff pleasant, and food delicious -- highly recommend!
We were seated and no one brought bread to a table for at least 45 minutes to one hour. Service was confused slow and chaotic. Although the servers were very friendly and try to be accommodating. Seems like the progression of food from the kitchen to the table was excruciatingly slow and confused. Food itself was tasty yet on remarkable any sense of gourmet food.Could not recommend this restaurant to anyone that I liked.

The heirloom beets are a very special treat. The place is a hidden oasis in Alvernon in Tucson. This is a must dinning experience. We will come back again before returning home to California.

We've dined here in the past and have been pleased with the food and service. However, this recent visit was an exception. Even though we had reservations, we had to wait to be seated. After we were seated we waited a LOOOOOONG time and had to go find a server/hostess before our order was taken. (The couple at the nest table had waitted over 40 m inutes after ordering to be served.
This was a bad experience. I kn ow they can do better.
my husband and I have been dining there for Valentine's Day for the past 7 years or so. We've always enjoyed the pre-selected menu with accompanying alcoholic beverage selections. The food has always been excellent. This time although the food was delicious, I had to send back my scallops, the most expensive entrée, for being barely room temperature--not even warm. they were also dry as though they had been sitting under the warming light too long. The service was frenetic with young women actually running. They were lovely young ladies but running is for the school yard. Sedate, adult service was missing. No refresher water, no bread until we asked for it, no one seemed in charge. The dessert was dry, crusty and difficult to cut. And it was cake! So sorry that we had a negative visit. No charge for the scallops per staff, but would gladly have paid had the dinner been up to par. We wish the chef well as we do want success for your beautiful restaurant.
I love the restaurant. I've been here before. The only negative comment is that we came for a Valentines Day dinner reservation and only found out that the advertised V-Day special was cancelled after we were seated and handed the regular daily menu. At that point I thought it was a little too late to change our minds (and reservations). I'll be back for dinner again however I will always question the next time a special is advertised.

I picked Cielo's because they advertised a special Valentine's Day menu. We arrived early and were seated promptly, but it was a long time before a server came to our table. I asked about the Valentine's Day menu and was told it was not being offered because "they were short handed" - huh? How does being short handed cause a menu deletion? All of the staff seemed disorganized and confused. The service and food were both mediocre. I don't recommend Cielo's and I don't plan to return.
We had lunch before an afternoon movie. Very quiet as there was only two other couples having lunch. The lunch menu was a bit limited but the bahn bin sandwich was delicious. The waitress was very attentive and accommodating. We have found our afternoon destination and will most certainly will return. The covered patio, next to fire, was very nice.
Lovely ambiance. We ate inside, but I'd love to go back in better weather and eat al fresco. Shaved Brussels sprouts Caesar salad was exceptional, as was the beet salad. Short ribs entree was excellent but not phenomenal. Husband said his grass-fed steak was good but not amazing. No desserts at our table. Service was good. Overall a great meal. We will definitely go back.
The 2 male waiters were on que. The 3 female waiters were not. We got the adjacent tables 2nd course as our first course. We also got the adjacent tables main course which was not what we ordered. Last year we went to Cielos and upon seeing the special menu for the evening...had a drink and left. We knew to ask about the special menu prior to arriving this year and decided to see what the "popcorn lobster" was about. We expected something other than popcorn spread over the lobster dish. Appetizer was not inspiring. Soup was cold. Ice tea was great. From my years of dining at Lodge on the Desert I expected the place to be very busy...it was not. Which tells me the chef needs to go. Lodge on the Desert is a very romantic place...but the fare in the dining room needs a change in hopes to bring back the clientele it once had and a wonderful hotel and dining room ambience are not lost.
Food was good! Service was awful! We waited 30 minutes until we got our drinks. Waitress kept leaving in the middle of our order. Usually service is excellent at this restaurant.
Visiting Tucson and looked for a quiet, non-chain restaurant near our hotel. What a great find. We loved the ambiance of Cielos. Was escorted to a table near the roaring fire on their lovely patio setting. Enjoyed surveying their eclectic menu of choices. Service was great and the best of the night was the Spanish guitar player who came to the tables and played relaxing music while we ate. What a pleasant surprise and wonderful experience. We plan to visit again the next time we are in Tucson
We were not aware that this was a $75 per person buffet. Granted mimosas were included, but neither of us drink.
A great Christmas dinner next to the fire outside <3
If I've had a worse meal in 2017 I can't think of it. I wish I had opted for MacDonald's, which would have been fresher, tastier, and one-tenth the cost.
On the plus side, they were open on Christmas, and the outdoor dining is lovely. On the negative side, almost all the food in the buffet was terrible. We tried the beef roast, ham, goose, omelet, Mexican rice, potatoes, green beans, fresh fruit, and olives. The beef roast, potatoes, and olives were good, the rest were just bad. The rice was nearly inedible. The goose half grisle. The beans nearly puree they were so overcooked. They only offered the buffet for Christmas, so we didn't have a chance to try their freshly prepared food - maybe that would have been better. All-in-all, for $70/plate, I really expected better. We ate the previous day (Christmas Eve) at a restaurant where the food cost half as much and was delicious, so good holiday dining options are available in Tucson. My suggestion is to try somewhere else (particularly if Cielos is serving the buffet).
What a find ! Delighted that this restaurant was at our hotel. Excellent waitstaff. Creative menu.

Thanksgiving Day Dinner.
It was open so we were very thankful for that.
Went to Cielos for Thanksgiving dinner. There was nothing online saying it was a Buffett with a fixed price. Most of the dishes were tasty, but the turkey was dry.
The worst part was the bill came with a 20% tip added to the bill. The fact that wasn't stated up front was worse than paying that percent at a Buffett. The courtyard was beautiful, but the side dining rooms were dated and poorly laid out.
We had the Thanksgiving buffet. Good selection of side dishes. We came in the later part of the afternoon and some of the dark turkey was dry. Initially no helped us but once our team came, we got good service. We are going to go back in 2 weeks for dinner with a friend and give it another try.
The booking and seating process was excellent with indoor and outdoor seating available. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Once seated we were guided to the Thanksgiving buffet which was the reason for choosing the restaurant. We live in another city over an hour away and had made plans to stay the evening.
The salads and choices from the self serve buffet were well prepared and the turkey was available in separate, covered warming pans for light and dark meat. The meat was moist and flavorful. An outside patio carving station was adjacent to the indoor seating and the beef was well cooked with generous portions. I enjoyed the roasted vegetables as well. The atmosphere was pleasant with a low noise level allowing for normal conversations. The southwestern decor wasn't overbearing and was a good fit. I think some live, soft piano music in the background would have added a nice touch.
My only surprise was the bill. I had no idea I was paying over $160 for two people for a self serve buffet. I wanted to enjoy a meal in a unique setting as opposed to going to a standard restaurant which is why I searched for this through OpenTable. I suppose I should have done some more homework on the pricing but for that kind of money, they should have been carving the bird at my table and bringing the selections to us. Other than that, an overall good experience.
We were able to make a last-minute reservation for Thanksgiving Brunch. The food was well-prepared and the buffet kept items hot. Dessert selection was skimpy and the drinks were quite expensive. The ambience could be improved: inside seating was dark and seemed dingy; outside, however, was quite nice.
My only negative was the automatic service charge of 20% for a buffet and then applying the full sales tax on the total including the service charge. Thanksgiving buffet for 4 adults,1 three year old, no alcoholic drinks, $340.
Cielos is wonderful for its romantic scenery, the warm atmosphere and the friendly staff. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We went there for our anniversary. We are from Florida and had a difficult time finding the restaurant because there is no signage on the roadside, but what a find it was.
The restaurant is in a lovely setting with a nice outdoor area including fireplace and fountain. The food is nicely prepared and presented, but quality varies. We had the date night menu. The salads were both very tasty with fresh ingredients and were well seasoned. The steak main course had a very well prepared delicious steak and excellent mashed potatoes. However, the broccolini was over seasoned with touch stems and the sauce was very heavy for my taste. The chocolate cake dessert was well done, but would have been better at room temperature rather than heavily chilled.
Wonderful Sunday Brunch. Food was varied and excellent.
We made reservations at Cielo's mainly because it was close to where we happened to be that evening.
All 5 of us were a bit surprised as to how delightful the outdoor setting was, the really good service, and best of all, the nicely prepared and tasty meals we all had. The outdoor setting was calm and comfortable. At this point in our dining experience we all like the quiet conversational setting, not the places where you are unable hear the person next to you.
We will certainly be back.
