The restaurant is in a lovely setting with a nice outdoor area including fireplace and fountain. The food is nicely prepared and presented, but quality varies. We had the date night menu. The salads were both very tasty with fresh ingredients and were well seasoned. The steak main course had a very well prepared delicious steak and excellent mashed potatoes. However, the broccolini was over seasoned with touch stems and the sauce was very heavy for my taste. The chocolate cake dessert was well done, but would have been better at room temperature rather than heavily chilled.

We made reservations at Cielo's mainly because it was close to where we happened to be that evening.
All 5 of us were a bit surprised as to how delightful the outdoor setting was, the really good service, and best of all, the nicely prepared and tasty meals we all had. The outdoor setting was calm and comfortable. At this point in our dining experience we all like the quiet conversational setting, not the places where you are unable hear the person next to you.
We will certainly be back.

The lodge on the desert has always been a beautiful historic location in tucson. The charming restaurant has always struggled to have a menu that brings customers back often. Wine choices not great and dinners were tasty but small portions for over $25. We may give it another visit in the future for happy hour and smaller plate choices.

Had dinner with family- 2 children, one a vegetarian. All were very happy with the food. I loved my chicken dish, and the hazelnuts and figs really added a lot! Daughter ordered 2 appetizers- one as an appetizer, and the other as dinner, and her second appetizer (cold!) did not arrive until we were well into our meals. The very high noise level from the bar made it difficult to hear one another, as there are few sound dampening materials. (Had I realized the bar could be closed off, which did happen eventually, I would have asked, but was sitting with my back to it). The staff is well trained, and tries very hard to be helpful. LOVED the food, and would come back!

Great dinner. Servers were very attentive. Great atmosphere. Several groups were celebrating an occasion and the restaurant had a guitar player serenade the groups...it was a good experience. Local wine was delicious.

Took over 30 minutes for our salads to be served. Once they were, they were wonderful! Heirloom Beet and Garden Salads are what we ordered.
The veal Saltimbocca was extremely salty (could hardly eat it) making everything on the plate taste very salty as well. Asparagus was over cooked and carrot puree had no flavor except salt. The duck was delicious as were the sides that were served with it.
Dessert left a little to be desired. basic chocolate cake (what looked to be what I could have made from a box) with a simple mousse on top.
We were there to use a gift certificate. We will come back when the weather cools down to enjoy the patio.

I chose Lodge on the Desert for its location and menu. All five meals were exceptional. Our one vegan friend said the vegetarian offer was the best meal he has had in Tucson. We will be back.

As usual, food and service was very good. One of our party was very specific in how she wanted her meal prepared. Not only did it come out just as she wanted it, the chef or manager came out to check and see if she was satisfied.
My only quibble is that the summer menu is slightly on the skimpy side. I would have preferred a few more choices.

Went for Mother's Day brunch. Overall, the food was good. The carving station and desserts were the best. Very limited selection, especially in the salad area, for a brunch in the $50-$70 per person range.

The service was weird. Not good, not bad, but weird. When we sat, it took a little while to get drink order, but then no explanation was offered for the layout of the brunch, etc. Therefore, we ended up with our main courses first, which were displayed in the courtyard, before we even knew there was a separate room with the very limited salad bar and a decent dessert table. After that, our plates were cleared before we were done eating, conversations were interrupted to fill drinks or explain the bill or something(without me asking, btw) and so on. The servers just seemed to be attentive when they shouldn't have been, but when you wanted something, there was no one to be found.

The cookies, tri-tip and pork loin were excellent, but I think for the money, there are many better options in Tucson these days.

Our dinner was really 5 star as was the service, very impressed. Sadly the standard of charging an extra cost for tonic in a vodka tonic is something we've never seen before, drinks are to costly.

The food was good, but the service very slow. The waitress seemed preoccupied with something else going on. Maybe they were short staffed. The beer from the bar was not good you could taste that the lines had not been cleaned in a long time. The wine was good, but way over priced. I loved the decor and the fireplace outside. We were staying at the lodge that is why we had dinner there. The hotel is very nice and comfortable to stay in. I will return to stay at the hotel again.

A hidden gem in Tucson. Every course from appetizer to dessert was original and delicious. The maitre d was extremely attentive throughout our meal and the service of food well spaced and beautifully presented. I would epreturn again and again.

Sadly, even with a reservation our party of four was seated 30 minutes late. The New Year's Eve menu didn't include a vegetarian option and the seafood option included beef marrow in the dish. The second course came out first and the server showed up 30 seconds later with the first course. He quickly ran it back to the kitchen, where the oysters and soup sat resulting in a less than perfect dish. We repeatedly had to ask for drinks and then received the wrong order. The server returned to our table three times to better understand our order. They included a 25% tip on the order, but didn't mention it prior to the meal and it was less than obvious on the bill. Ultimately this certainly explains why they are in chapter 11.

We've had a number of memorable meals at Lodge on the Desert over the years. We're sad to see a decline in quality over the last couple years. Our dinner on New Year's Eve was a big disappointment. Red wine served ice cold, salads served with no dressing, the scallops main dish consisting of two tough scallops and a much larger piece of bone marrow (unexpected, and unappetizing), and a dessert cake topped with tacky-looking colored sprinkles .
We're hoping for a serious upgrading at the restaurant at Lodge on the Desert; otherwise we don't think it will be around very long, and that would be a shame.

Christmas dinner 2016 was awful....felt bad for the staff who were attentive but the food was terrible. The buffets for appetizers and desserts didn't even have enough plates, the shrimp was so frozen you couldn't get it out of the bowl, the desserts appeared to be of a quality that would be bought in bulk at Costco. Two of the chairs at the table were broken and unsafe to sit on. I hate to say this because the servers were helpful and attentive, but the food was overpriced for what was very poor quality, not hot when served, and just very disappointing.
