The intimate space is framed with floor-to-ceiling windows and overlooks a spacious secluded Saltillo-tiled outdoor private patio featuring bistro string lighting, a four-sided, tiled fireplace for optimal year-round al fresco dining. Cielos and its Bar both reflect a genuine, richly authentic Southern Arizona historic charm and ambience including rough-hewn artist-design hand-painted wood beams, Mexican tin chandeliers, floating potted plants and shade sails.
Great food and ambiance. Service was good but we did have to ask for our waiter so we could get another drink.
We chose this restaurant as it is fairly close to the airport, the ambiance, food & cocktails were all excellent, the Tamale was the best I’ve ever had... this might be the best meal in a Tucson!!
Though the server and food were excellent, a noisy pair of patrons allowed to work at their dinner table with laptops and notebooks created a noisy and uncomfortable distraction. There must be ways to politely refuse to serve people who think a quiet dining room is a bustling cyber cafe. First time here. Hope it isn’t the last. Thanks!
We love dining here. It's always wonderful and a real taste of Tucson.
We had a great dinner, the place is very quiet. The service is attentive but not too pushy which is very enjoyable. The waiters know their wines and can recommend a good wine based in your meal
It was a very pleasant surprise and we will definitely eat there again!
I would recommend Cielos to anyone that wants a Tucson experience. Lodge on the Desert is beautiful and the delicious menu choices match the ambiance. It was so hard to make a menu selection. I can't wait to go back so I can try something else on the menu.
Food was served on a tile plank. Cute but not practical. Steak juice dropped off one corner onto the place may. Other food items spilled or fell off the tile. Made for a messy eating experience and a messy table. Noisy party going on across the courtyard in a big room with a band that you heard Everytime someone opened the door to go out to the restrooms. Was distracting and made us feel left out. otherwise just an okay meal. Why does everything nowadays have to be spiced up real hot all the time. Can never taste the food!
We arrived early for lunch and had the outside seating area to ourselves. Even with it being warm there was a nice breeze and the fans that mist water kept us comfortable. We had the prosciutto chips and mango salsa for a starter. The enchiladas as our main, we split both plates, portion size is on the smaller side, but perfect for us. The staff was friendly and attentive. We walked away satisfied with the food and experience without the feeling of bloat. Would definitely go for lunch again or dinner in the future.
Relaxed atmosphere, fresh flavors, attentive service. Cocktails were crisp and tasty.
Our server was very pleasant, but it appeared that there were only 2 servers working. This created an extremely SLOW time from finally being able to order and the eventual meal delivery. We did have a reservation, but apparently that doesn’t do much. Our food was delicious and beautifully presented.
Food was innovative and good, but missing 5-star flavor. Service was excellent, place is lovely. Food too expensive to merit frequent visits, which is too bad.
We had read rave reviews about Cielos but it did not quite live up to them. The food and service was very good but maybe because it is summer in Tucson, the menu was somewhat limited. There were no specials, however the regular menu does have some different twists on traditional favorites. The spinach salad was very tasty and original. The short ribs were fork tender but were not served with a sauce. The pork chops were prepared nicely and the meal portions were appropriate. We were outside on the patio and it was very pleasant. They had misters going so it would be nice even in the summer. The hotel grounds are charming - an updated taste of Tucson’s history. A little pricey, but we will try them again in the fall.
We are from out of town visiting Tucson. We were looking for a nice place to eat a relaxing dinner and after reading menus and reviews of umpteen restaurants we decided to give Cielos a try.
Loved the ambiance which sets you up for the rest of the dining experience. Our server Chris was polite, knowledgeable and attentive He gave us his recommendations for dinner which we heeded and they did not disappoint. We could not decide which dish was tastier. All in all a wonderful experience. Will definitely revisit on our next trip back to Tucson.
I truly love Cielos and go quite a bit. I made reservations for mother’s day 3 weeks ahead of time and let them know that we would have a double stroller with babies with us. They sat us at the only table without an umbrella in the hot sun to eat buffet food. We literally couldn’t pick up the silverware as it was burning hot. As we sweated and tried to keep the babies covered, we asked to please be moved when something opened and the staff was obviously annoyed. Finally after seeing no line and table after table be cleaned, one kind server offered to move us. Our server was obviously upset with us and our service was horrible. For $45 a plate this was an awful experience.
Reserved weeks ahead for our party of 10 to celebrate our son’s UA graduation. Sat 10 min with no menus, then asked what beverages we wanted (we pointed out we had no menus..). A few menus were delivered after that, but I had to go to the hostess station myself to dig around for drink menus. Ordering took way too long, food took way too long, and they screwed up my mom’s order.
I suppose no one was worried there since there was an automatic 20% gratuity added. To their credit, they did remove the charge for my mom’s incorrect order. Food very average.
Nice for happy hour and good breakfast buffet. Lunch was not a good experience.
We enjoyed a lovely evening out on the patio at an umbrella table and by the fireplace. We had the salmon and the twice-cooked ribeye, both were excellent. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice. It was a nice evening relaxing and dining on delicious cuisine.
Lovely property serving good food. The menu was rather limited, but tasty.
WE had dinner at Cielo's twice while in Tucson. So convenient if you're staying at Lodge on the Desert. Both nights the food was very good - gucamole, mixed salad and pork chop were our favorites. Service was wonderful our first night - we arrived about 8:30 and everyone was so welcoming even though closing time is 9 ;however, service was mediocre the second. The manager was very responsive to our "constructive" comments. The outdoor patio is beautiful.
By far, the Easter brunch buffet was superb! The food selection, quality and presentation couldn’t have been better. The executive chef, Miguel Heredia, did a fine job as well as his very professional staff. We’d most certainly return.
We enjoyed the experience and were treated very nicely. Nice place for a family Easter Brunch gathering.
Dinner at Cielos is a wonderful experience. Our party of four shared the Chef's Board appetizer, and two of us had the salmon entrees, and two had the ribeye steaks. Along with glasses of wine selected by our waiter. Everything arrived with nice timing, not rushed, and we spent quite a while at the table talking after we were done. The chef even came out to meet us. A nice experience in Tucson, a little pricey perhaps compared to other Tucson establishments, but worth it in my opinion.
Tasty but empty. A little overpriced, portions a little too big for my taste.
Great Rib Steak, Asparagus and potatoes cooked to perfection, Med-Rare). Excellent ambience, service and staff! Came for a beverage and stayed for hours. Thank for the complimentary slice of cake on my Birthday 🎂!
Great food, service and atmosphere
Unique menu, outstanding service, excellent value.
We booked a table for 5:00 PM on Christmas day. Although the reservations available on Open Table ran on the quarter hour until 6:00 PM or later, we were the last people seated that evening. As a result, the wait staff was trying to clean up and turn over the dining room for breakfast, and things were relatively disorganized. Also, many items on the buffet were either cold or no longer available. The servers tried their best to make up for the obvious lack of preparation for late diners, but it was a little tough.
This probably was less a problem of the staff but rather the booking protocol on the Open Table site. If we had been advised that the dinner was essentially "over except for the shouting" we probably would have chosen another restaurant.
We probably will try Cielos in the future, but not on a holiday.
Please note again that all of the servers were very considerate, but it just wasn't meant to be.
Christmas Dinner Buffet was delicious whith the right amount of food choices.
Good food great location and staff in good attitude and service
Great setting by the fireplace on the patio
Very weird, quiet staff members acting like they were closing even though it was 7pm. Was convinced to buy the special (pork) but found out later that it was the 2nd most expensive item on the menu. I would never have ordered pork if I could have gotten the ribeye for $2 more. Food was also very slow coming out and we finished our drinks and apps and just had to sit there with a dirty table for a while.
Lovely, tasteful and understated surroundings. Imaginative menu. Great option for outdoor dining in a pleasant, sheltered environment.
Very Disappointed in Thanksgiving Day lunch buffet. Carving station never materialized during the 45 minutes we were there (11:30 reservation), and the turkey that finally showed was dry and served in broiler pan. Miscues in kitchen on turkey timing is hard to imagine given lead time and firm reservations. Other traditional items sat idle while we awaited turkey. Mashed potatoes flooded with butter, soggy stuffing, over cooked beef. At least the Brussel Sprouts and shrimp cocktail were ok. I should have requested our $$$ back! Sorry I have to post this poor review but clearly not worth our spend, nor time!
Really good place sort of hidden away. Food was delicious. A bit pricey, but a good experience
We had a reservation but waited an hour to be served!!! Food was great. Waitress too.
An amazingly romantic dinner. We ate outside by the fire. One of the best dinners I've had in a very long time.
Food was outstanding. Service was good, could have been a bit more attentive as there were very few people dining. Had the ribeye, wow...very good. Wife had the salmon, was perfect. Great place if you like quiet. If you like high energy, not the place for you. We like the quiet!
Excellent food, ambiance and service. Will definitely dine there again when we are next in Tucson.
Food here needs help. Typical of a hotel, it is lacking. Reviews say otherwise but four of us ate here for dinner and had great service, nice atmosphere, but missing is any quality to the food . Salmon overcooked, steak with a sauce dumped on not any better.
Maybe it was due to being a Wednesday in September, but there was no one in this restaurant which unfortunately then it feels awkward and without energy. Our server couldn’t have been more darling, the food was quite good, all elements that you want in a restaurant, but the lack of other diners was uncomfortable.
