Lockbox at 21c Hotel

Lockbox is excellent. I have eaten there twice in the past two months, and found the food outstanding. The service was outstanding one time and only so-so the second time. Still, I would highly recommend it.

Again a wonderful dinner. One change I made. I ordered enough to take home for a second dinner. Especially the potato puffs. Many thanks, Julie and Dan.

Service with only one other table occupied was a bit slow. We had steaks and salmon which were very good but IMHO a bit overpriced. The side dishes did not impress us. They seemed to be "overdecorated"
with nuts and other unknown substances which defeated the taste we were looking for. We were not offered drinks other than water or something from the bar. It took quite a while to receive food and quite a while to pay the bill. Great atmosphere in an "artsy" downtown setting, but just not the type of American fare we enjoy.

Everyone at the table said their meal was really tasty. Service was good, but not obtrusive, which really allowed us to enjoy the get-together.

We ate at Lockbox because it was voted Lexington's best date night restaurant. The atmosphere was really cool and it was wonderful to sit in a restaurant that was quiet enough to have a conversation sans shouting to hear one another. However, the food was VERY expensive... we did enjoy what we ordered, but I'm not sure it was worth the $$$ we paid for it. The waitress was also absent for most of the night, which was surprising given how many open tables there were. Overall, probably wouldn't go back.. at least not for dinner. Brunch looks like it is more reasonably priced so we may try that in the future?

Food was superb! The sage advice cocktail was my favorite of the night.

Wonderful meal! Cool combination of Kentucky "home cooking" and flashy new ideas. Loved the "3 pots" appetizer and the salmon was out of this world! Oh, and all of this was preceded by some sippin' of Angel's Envy...oh my!

The three of us greatly enjoyed what we ordered. Our server clearly, fully answered the questions we had about menu items. For much of the time, we were the only three people in the Lockbox, so we could talk freely without worrying about others overhearing our conversations. All in all, it was a wonderful experience having lunch at the 21c.

The dumplings and collards were amazing along with The Jars. The steaks were not cooked well. One steak came out cold. The table collapsed on us at the end of the meal. Nobody came over to check the table after there was a loud crash. The hospitality aspect is lacking somewhat.

We were a party of four, two couples. The food was outstanding.
Service is of the same caliber as Waffle House but not as good. The front is run by some very nice young kids, some, I am sure, having graduated HS, but absolutely clueless as to how to provide service that matches the prices this restaurant requires. They need a real manager to take over. Nobody was intentionally rude. But their constant interruptions and obsession to clean tables ruined the experience for us. The check was presented to me without my asking and without asking my guests if they wanted dessert. So we all passed. It's too bad because the kitchen was good.

Can’t wait to return to Lexington and stay at 21c and eat at Lockbox again.

Their grits were sooo buttery, loved the potato chunks and duck!

Had a delicious breakfast with excellent service in a lovely white-tablecloth dining room.

Great food

This was our second visit to Lockbox and it just wasn’t up to our first visit. Would like to see changes in menu choices - maybe some reflecting season. Bread dishes collected then returned as bread was “thawing” - then crust almost too hard to bite. Service on previous visit was much more personal.

The place was pretty empty and all though the staff was nice and got everything we asked for we would be waiting quite a while for our drinks

Specialty cocktails were delicious, but my Autumn Daiquiri was a touch too sweet. Loved the hint of cinnamon, tho. Our party of four was quite satisfied with our dinners. We started with appetizers “in jars” and potato fritters. Orders included Short Ribs, Scallops, pork and salmon. Service was excellent. Well done!

Very expensive for what it was. No Wow Factor.

Came in for my anniversary. Emily, our server, was exceptionally detailed, unobtrusive, knowledgeable and sweet. The cocktails were exceptional and the ambiance interesting and beautiful. Manager was sweet to bring over complimentary champagne and cotton candy!

The drinks were spot on. Friend had the chicken and said it was delicious. I had the cauliflower and lentils. They need a bigger plate, but delicious. The chai mousse for dessert was outstanding, with I had more room for my own. Ambience was very nice.

The food was excellent but I wish there were more wine by the glass selections. Service was overall good but kind of spotty at times.

The food and service were outstanding. The food was prepared fresh to order. Many vegetable dishes available and creatively inspired. Loved the cauliflower steak, delicata squash, and mushrooms. Both the wait staff and the chef were knowledgeable about gluten allergies and offered alternatives. Definitely will be back.

Apps were excellent. Our main courses were average. The steak came out cooked but cold. Service was ok. When our main courses came out, our server was busy talking at the servers station. The salad and appetizer dishes were still on the table. Wouldn’t go back.

Had to ask for drink refills twice. Restaurant failed to mention special occasion to my son, who is spending first bday away from home. Disappointed.

Lockbox never disappoints. Every time I come here for dinner, the food is superb. The tomato pie was outstanding! We had the salmon and love that dish. Desserts were delicious. Thank you!

Weirdly enough, the bathroom is a must-visit.
I took my family to Lockbox on parents weekend, gameday and it exceeded my expectation. It wasn't overly crowded or loud, and the service was great! All the meals were cooked perfectly. The menu was great offering a wide variety of tastes without too many options.

Had a birthday brunch and found the restaurant very pleasant. Food was very good, service was excellent and the atmosphere was quiet while being busy. It continues to be one of our favorite places for special events.

Fabulous dinner and every detail was perfect. We frequent here schedule permitting and have never been disappointed.

Who doesn’t love a good brunch and museum in the same morning! Any 21c is highly recommended in my book, and this one did not disappoint. Great waitstaff, food was delicious and the space is gorgeous!

We were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary- the staff were attentive and the food was wonderful.

Always a great time. Very fine cocktails and terrific food selections. The standout NY strip with pommes frites NEVER disappoints. They were certainly the best frites we have had in ages, and combined with the heirloom vegetables and other dishes we were filled UP! For the appetizer, don't miss the grilled shrimp and sausage with rice and tomato. Amazing.

The food was horrible, and the price of drinks was ridiculous - $20 for a glass of wine!
