Lockbox at 21c Hotel
Overall, meal was amazing! Incredible wine selection!
Have been here few times and food never disappoints.... had many apps and rabbit. Delic!! Our server was great as well
We were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary- the staff were attentive and the food was wonderful.
Thank you so much for leaving such a nice review and we are so glad you had a wonderful anniversary. Cheers! Laura Restaurant Manager
Always a great time. Very fine cocktails and terrific food selections. The standout NY strip with pommes frites NEVER disappoints. They were certainly the best frites we have had in ages, and combined with the heirloom vegetables and other dishes we were filled UP! For the appetizer, don't miss the grilled shrimp and sausage with rice and tomato. Amazing.
We are so glad that you always have a great time with us and enjoy everything! The shrimp is one of my favorites too. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a nice review :) -Laura Restaurant Manager
The food was horrible, and the price of drinks was ridiculous - $20 for a glass of wine!
Really lovely place. The pork shoulder and beignets were truly outstanding. Felt as if I took a short vacation to a big city for two hours and came home refreshed. We remarked on how full the dining room was yet it was not noisy.
We are so glad that you enjoyed everything and thank you for leaving such a lovely review! I love that you felt like you were on vacation :) Thanks again and come see us again soon. -Laura Restaurant Manager
Both couples shares the excellent strip and there were raving reviews around the table. Also, the spring salad and cheese board were just as fine! One of the guests is a professional chef and said the strip was outstanding.
Lockbox was great. The art exhibit next door is definitely a cool experience
Come for the food. Stay for the art. My wife and I have been there 3 times and we've enjoyed it every time.
Everything is first rate. Ambiance reflects the hotel: elegant, artsy, funky. The jerk roasted chicken with grilled corn, roasted potatoes, and slighty pickled peaches was wonderful. The roasted summer squash side dish was also excellent, on a bed of Moroccon flavored eggplant puree with currants. Service was attentive with out being intrusive.
Kitchen seemed slow for the size crowd. Party of four and what everyone got was delicious. Menu changes often.
Four of us were there on a Saturday evening. The trout toast was memorable - delicious, along with the in-jars - frankly those were enough for a meal. Some of the food while delicious was a little "hot" on the spicy side. The catfish was spicy and the roast chicken was very good but the bed of corn and beans(?) was on the spicy side - a bit too much for my mother in her 80'S. One in our party ordered the diver scallops which were fabulous and perfectly cooked and instead of the melon accompaniment asked for potatoes - which were crispy and beyond delicious the dish was a huge hit. The panna cotta and donuts rounded off a delightful meal and evening.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review of your experience! We appreciate all feedback as it helps us get better every day! We are thrilled that you were blown away by most of the items you tried and we do hope you'll come back soon as our menu changes often. Thanks so much, Laura- Restaurant Manager
The food was divine. The drinks were outstanding. Our server was attentive without hovering. Husband and I play a game where we rank our food and dining experience. We ranked the tomato pie at the absolute top. A must try. And the temper tantrum was second. We also returned for brunch the next morning.
The summer menu is delicious- we highly recommend the tomato pie appetizer - easily split between four people.
Lackluster food. For the price, expected both flavor and culinary ideas. The ideas were there, if a bit amateur, but the flavor was missing. Disappointing.
That was great service and a wonderful table. The server was attentive and the food was delicious.
The selections on the dinner menu are not extensive, but they clearly are focusing on doing things well. I had never had rabbit, but the rabbit and dumplings were outstanding (though a little more of the promised squash in the dish would have been nice). My wife's pork chop was also terrific.
Who would figure a bowl of peaches would totally change a palate! Every city should have at least one vibey restaurant like Lockbox. Also, looking at 3 floors of contemporary artwork in 21c is a plus. If anyone asks me what hotel to stay when in Lexington, I will say the 21c Hotel and to make sure you eat at Lockbox
My daughter, husband , and I were in Lexington for the day. Dinner was very good, but the wait was way too long! From the time we st down, water was long coming and food took to long! 🙁. Loved the short ribs, shrimp and peaches and blackberries!!!
My husband and I were in Lexington and decided to have an impromptu lunch! It was awesome. The jerk chicken is a must to try!!! The banana cake was fabulous for dessert! Brie was lovely and attentive! Thank you
Ambiance wonderful with good food and inventive menu. However service was amateurish at best with added arrogance. It’s a shame
Meal was fantastic. What the slap in the face was after paying $200 + for dinner were charged $8 for parking? How cheap and petty
Father’s day. Fun time.
The service is always incredible, the atmosphere is both calming and stimulating thanks to the art gallery feel. In terms of food we have only ever done brunch and the starters and sides are always amazing. I have been through 3 different entrées and have not hated any of them but each was flawed. The shrimp and grits has a lovely flavor but was too wet, the steak and eggs again had a lovely, crisp flavor but the steak was tough and the smoked salmon salad is an odd cornucopia of ingredients with the salmon tasting delicious but the undercooked/raw squash was flavorless and a bit bitter. My husband always has the eggs benedict and loves them so perhaps next time I should try those. Their fruit salad starter is my favorite thing on the menu, bright, crisp, fruit atop a smooth, creamy ricotta cheese drizzled with honey and pine nuts with subtle hints of mint it is like spring/summer on a plate.
We have now been 4 times so obviously we enjoy it as a whole experience but I do wish my entrées were as outstanding as everything else. It is a bit pricey for brunch. We generally spend about a hundred dollars for the three of us including tip, with no alcohol but we each have a starter and an entrée.
I have and will continue to recommend it, especially for special occasions thanks to some truly bright dishes, the outstanding service and the location. Don't forget to check out the gallery before or after, there is always something thought provoking on display.
Food and service was excellent The scallops, pork chop, and catfish dishes were outstanding
Just not what it had been
One of the best meals I've ever had!
The restaurant took an order for sparkling water, then we were told they were out. The cheese board was very good. I ordered the pork chop and it was fine, but not outstanding. The carrots were very good.
Dinner was perfection from service, cocktails to food! Epic! Highly recommend!
The food was HORRIBLE! I’ve been there for brunch several times and it was amazing. There were 3 women on 3 separate checks . Our server knew we didn’t not like our food. My short ribs were so over cooked that half wasn’t even edible. $20 was deducted from each of our checks which was a joke. I never go back ! We went down the street to eat ate Tony’s after we had already paid for our meal
Upon arrival hostesses could not be bothered to seat us and never greeted us. We actually had an early lunch but that was no excuse. Our server was completely unengaged and forgot to order our appetizer. The meal was delicious so kudos to the chef. The nude art in the bathroom area was not appreciatesd.
Understaffed, order incorrect, drinks very weak, bartender impolite
Best server ever! We come regularly and have had really bad service before - this new person is great. Glad you changed the art installation - the last photos of children were disturbing in that they sexualized children - don’t care that they were willing muses and I hate the idea of art censorship, but this is my opinion. The “Hey Mickey” installation doesn’t offend me in the least. Muse was old enough to consent to something provocative.
How about changing up the menu a little?
The ambiance is terrific. This is the third 21C Hotel I've dined in. I love the high ceilings and natural light. Didn't get 5 stars, because hostess was so so. When the place is pretty empty you do not seat folks (62 year old couple) by the silverware/glass bin area!
Did the chicken special of the day, which included a side and THE BEST CHOCOLATE TORTE I've ever had. Salmon also good.
Parking not validated. :-(
Food was excellent...service fair. Staff a little slow. Restaurant was not crowded.
Good ambiance and service
Awesome customer service!
Food is amazing and we had the best server ever.
