Locanda Verde Ratings and Reviews
First of all, we had an 8:30 reservation and were not seated until 9:20. They kept apologizing but no compensation, like a round of drinks. I think they might have given us bread with ricotta.
The service was a bit slow - always very frenetic there, and noisy. Steak tartare tasty, but the chicken was underdone in places. WE were too tired to send it back at that point - close to 11:00 - so we just didn't eat some of it.
Disappointing. Will not go back. Maybe ever.
My husband and I decided to enjoy a nice dinner before the Rangers game. The restaurant is not near MSG but easy enough to get to by taxi or subway. We were so happy we went there for a relaxing, delicious dinner. The ambiance is awesome. Service is exceptional. The food was amazing. We will definitely be back. I have already told a few people how wonderful our experience was.
We had a lovely, quiet late lunch. As hotel guests we dined in a private setting within the hotel. It was quiet, pleasant, comfortable and with a nice "vibe". Service was attentive without being intrusive. The lamb meatball sliders as appetizers were superb! The lamb was perfect--tender, flavorful and the buns complemented perfectly. The lamb pappardelle also was excellent. My wife had a salad which she enjoyed. A great meal in a lovely setting. Will return.
What a phenomenal evening. We weren't sure what to expect, having been given a gift card by some very fine friends. Looking Locanda Verde up online didn't create much in the way of a positive expectation, the photos really don't do it justice (guys, you should work on this!). The evening could not have been better - great, warm, personal, fun, welcome by the Maitre D', 2 great cocktails at the bar, phenomenal food menu, stratospheric wine menu (especially if you're a fan of classy Italian reds, theres 100's available) and wonderful service throughout. Best meal in a long time. Thanks to you all, we'll be back for sure
I had very high expectations given I had to make a reservation quite far in advance, but was very let down.
Although the service was good, the food was average at best, and extremely overpriced. There are SO many better Italian restaurants in the city, much less in the neighborhood.
I would not come again.
Was across from our hotel and recommended by a colleague. Cramped first floor. The host sent us upstairs to wait as a two top sat vacant right behind him. We were then sent back down to that very table 10 minutes later while many tables were open upstairs. Beet salad was bland, but ravioli special was delicious. Just ok overall.
Sorry I hated it, too dark, too crowded, the service was great until more people came in, & then we could even get another glass of wine.
We had an appetizer & two bowls of pasta , three glasses of wine,& two Cosmos, over $300. So ridiculous.
The pasta was delicious, but not worth the money.
4th time I've eaten here. Met a business colleague for lunch. The waiter was pretty bad. We were both interested in the fish of the day. Because he didn't know how the dish was prepared, he got hung up on our ask to leave off anchovies and he wasted a lot of time go back and forth to the kitchen. It came out quickly but minus the microgreens he said the dish was covered with. Fish was well cooked - very nice although plain - I suspect he forgot to add them on. Then we asked for tea - he offered ginger tea as an option which we both ordered. I'd paid the bill and still didn't have the tea which finally arrived but hadn't steeped at all. We had to rush out at that point so didn't get to enjoy it. Bad service pretty much ruined what would have been a nice meal.
Locanda is a beautiful restaurant and fun location. Our Sunday lunch service was not good-while the waiter was pleasant--we had to call him to get drinks, call him to take our lunch order and call him to take our dessert order. There are not that many tables and this kind of lunch service is disappointing.
used to come here often - great food, nice atmosphere. But it now has gotten horribly expensive - $14 for 1 bruschetta ( 1 piece of toasted bread with tomato/onion topping);there is NOT much choice on the menu either - just a few dishes. risotto special of the day was WATERY (not soupy, watery). veal milanese was deep fried in old oil - can tell by the quality of the breading that was VERY dark and the oily taste. dessert was very nice, and service attentive.
Fantasy meal as usual! The fresh ricotta is amazing - seems so simple but oh so good! We took some out of town guests there and they loved every dish! Black squid ink pasta super yummy and duck was on point. Cocktails must have been good also because they kept them coming! A neighborhood treasure and still buzzing after all these years...deservedly so!
Love this restaurant, but had a really disappointing meal there. It was right after Thanksgiving, so it seemed like perhaps the "A-team" staff got the night off. There were numerous little details that missed the mark, but the real heartbreaker for me was the pasta. The plate was scorching hot but somehow the pasta itself was cold. And it wasn't the same as it's been before - just not as good. A little "wet" or watery, and also a TINY portion. Also found a big piece of plastic in our gelato. Bummer of a finish. Still love the place, it's gorgeous and I love the whole vibe. But a disappointing meal, especially since we were there celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary and had our wedding dinner there.
