What Insiders Are Saying
An Infatuation favorite, Locanda Verde is a very good restaurant, and it is so because the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
The food was very good but the portions were small. The restaurant was very loud.
The wait staff took more than 20 minutes to come take our order after we sat down. The lamb bolognese pasta was salty and we didn't even get bread to start with! $28 for a small plate of pasta with poor service totally not worth the visit.
Table was delayed — but they made up for it with complimentary champagne and the food was incredible
Disappointing experience - we have previously had great meals at Locande. Last night, while entertaining clients, we had a completely indifferent waiter, almost snarky. Our food was cold as well. It felt like a totally different restaurant. A lovely server stepped in and took our dessert order, but by then it was too late. It wasn’t appropriate to give feedback in the moment, as it was a business dinner. But hopefully, some adjustments can be made in the future.
I thought Locanda had great potential, however, service was perfunctory instead of personal and food was over/undercooked and dry.
- bread served, no oil, no butter
- Meatball sliders- a little bland, small and dry.
- Asparagus Tagliatelle- the best thing.
- Grandmother's ravioli- undercooked (not quite aldente), didn't have that authentic light handmade pasta feel
- duck- great flavors but overcooked and dry
- side of potatoes- could have used EVOO or butter drizzled
Mosquitos biting outside, just worth noting if you sit out there around sunset. Of course not the restaurant's fault.
I probably wouldn't go back, but it wasn't terrible.
Very overpriced for brunch. NYC is expensive but brunch here is highly overrated with average at best service.
We had a frittata and french toast (25$ each) both were unremarkable.
Bloody Marys were rated by other diners as a must do however again lacking flavor. (17$ each)
There are better options in Tribeca.
Really lovely place. Oatmeal and Uova Medenes are the best. Top up with Maple Graze scone.
This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. My friend and I went while visiting NYC on a Friday and the next night we scratched our dinner plans and went back! We fell in LOVE with the sheep’s milk ricotta. It is phenomenal! I had the Gnudi the first night and it was the best pasta I have EVER had. My friend had the Cod and she absolutely loved it! It was some of the most flakey and delicious fish she has had. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, and will definitely be going back when I next visit NYC!!
Pasta was undercooked and mediocre. This restaurant does well because of its location not for anything else.
Service was lacking. Hostess seated us without giving us menus. When we asked the waitress she looked annoyed. The actual servers and busboys were outstanding, the woman who took our order, mediocre at best.
Hadn't been to Locanda Verde in quiet a while and we will definitely be getting there more often. Everything from start to finish was great. So sorry I don't remember our servers name but she was excellent, helping me with menu choices due to my nut allergy, and having a good knowledge of the extensive Italian wine list .
We started with the sheep milk ricotta crostini that was WOW. This and a bottle of wine alone could have bee the perfect meal. Then we tried 2 pastas... the white veal ragu that was light and tasty, and the sunday sauce that was flavorful tomato with pork meat. Both pastas were cooked perfectly al dente. The swordfish and veal chop were also hits with our group.
The air conditioning was off and we were forced to eat our meal sweating by the kitchen.
Ate outside and it was very enjoyable. Loved everything but portions are on the small side
Birthday dinner. Waiter was really nice and accommodating. Fast service, great pasta
I’ve been to Locanda Verde a few times with friends and thought my husband would enjoy it for our anniversary.
The ambience and service were impeccable. The food, however, was only fair. The eggplant crostini was uninteresting. The swordfish was dry and the squid ink linguine wasn’t special. The mint chocolate chip gelato was very good.
I must say we were underwhelmed by the food overall.
service wasn’t great. food incredibly underwhelming. overall disappointed
Visiting NYC and friend recommended.
The food was excellent but portions were really small, particularly for the prices. Also, service was surprisingly poor given the cost.
This was an anniversary dinner and it could not have felt more celebratory and wonderful. Our server, Karen, was so wonderful and knowledgeable and we had lots of questions!!! Never for a second did we feel we were a burden. She was patient and terrific in every way. The duck was out of this world and the lamb shank was bone sucking delicious. You will not be disappointed for a minute. This is an incredible dining experience in every way
While our waiter was nice, some of the food was awful. I ordered the orcchiette and it was inedible. I did not give the food one star because the liver crostini was actually tasty. Nonetheless, I left without eating an actual dinner and found another restaurant nearby to provide an edible meal.
We have dined there before. We sat down about 15 minutes after our reservation time, the waiters were cleaning up next to us and spilled water all over my pants. Then, our pasta was cold and we had to send it back.
Romantic & upscale
The service was very good with the exception of our main server. He was not attentive in any capacity.
It was a special occasion dinner as we had a friend from out of town visiting. Food was really great, service was great, atmosphere was great - definitely recommend but the price tag for us meant it was a rare treat.
Excellent food and delicious desserts. Great service, nice location. All around very good experience
We had an 8:30 reservation for 7 people and we were seated at approximately 9pm. The table was pushed up against a wall so the only person who could fit in that seat, luckily, happened to the the child of one of the couples there. The starters were good - we chose the usuals for the table - but the pasta was awful. None of us liked the pasta we were served. Also, kind of strange pasta offerings anyway, and although the plate was hot, the food was not leading me to believe it was not individually cooked, or it was left waiting too long. The waiter we had was awesome however. And the wine was good, and the bill reasonable. All things considered, I don't think I will be back.
Sorry to complain. Food was just not very good, especially considering the expense.
Absolutely terrible service
Awesome! This is my favorite restaurant.
Absolutely beautiful dinner! Loved the wine list and ambiance. Incredible menu: opted for lamb meatball sliders, orecchiette with duck sausage and kale, and sea scallops over riso venere. Could have easily split the burrata and both chosen pasta dishes but there were too many great choices! lived up to the hype.
Outstanding in every respect! Server could not be more welcoming or attentive, every course provided a reason to rave. The location and ambiance are perfect and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to navigate fine NYC dining.
The service was awful. Our waiter hovered over us when we arrived until we ordered. It felt intrusive. Then, after ordering, we had to wait more than two hours for our dinner to be served. When we asked when our dinner would be served, our waiter gave us a perfunctory answer and moved away. We would never go back nor will we recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Been wanting to go for a long time and finally got a reservation.
Apetizers took forever and our pasta never came.
Some glitch in the kitchen they said.
I have eaten at Locanda Verde at least 20-30 times over the years. They have the meanest waiters in the entire city. So much attitude! No one ever smiles!
Had a lovely dinner with a group of 6, which was great because we got to try a lot of dishes! I have several dietary restrictions and our server was incredibly helpful, even anticipating my questions before I could ask them. Favorites were the ricotta toast, paccheri, grandma's ravioli and the gelato! Great for a date night, even better with a small group. Will definitely be back!
We started with one server who clearly did not want to be there. She offered little help when asked to describe dishes. Midway through dinner she came and informed us that she was going home and another server would help us. Only I think she forgot to tell him.
