My girlfriend and I had to go back one more time before Enzo closed and had our last mean that absolutely delicious and with great service as always

We were celebrating our sons Bday and came to Positano restaurant. The music they were playing was so loud we couldn't hear each other talking. The food was good but our server was so strange he made us super uncomfortable. I couldn't hear his name but he was from Naples Italy had curly hair. Would never return because of him😩

The food and service was wonderful. Like most places any more the noise level was off the charts. Go early if you want to hear yourself talk. At twilight I'd avoid the window table by the door. The sun was uncomfortably in my eyes for 20 minutes just when our food arrived.

Food was tasty and the staff was helpful and friendly. My only complaint is the music volume. It was a little bit loud. But I'd go again.

Love our time at Positano's! Come here regularly for lunch with friends and dinner with hubby.

If I want so unbelievably noisy, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and go back. But we had to scream to be heard.

Everything great, I which the great doe they are using for their pizzas could have been a bit thinner so that it's cooked enough, mine was a bit undercooked.
The mortadella could be better, everything else was great!!

Happened upon Locanda Positano on Open Table when originally looking for a pizza place close to our hotel. We were absolutely thrilled! We ended up not ordering pizza but instead shared the charcuterie tray & the gnocchi ( the waiter even split it for us and let us get different sauces) and then we each ordered dessert. Everything we had was absolutely delicious; we will recommend Locanda Positano to anyone traveling to the San Francisco or Redwood City area.

the service was good, the food ok, but there AC was broken on one of the hottest day. they had a big door open to the street.
we ate half the food and left fast as it was not pleasant to stay.

We love This restaurant and have supported the brothers since we first met them at their restaurant Aqua Paza in San Mateo. We since moved south and only go out for a special occasion. We are never disappointed with the food and service, though the dishes have changed a bit since we first became patrons.

Service Was poor

I found Locanda Positano when I was on a Biz trip in Redwood City and I was tempted by the pics to go there. I am from Italy and it's very difficult to find such an authentic italian place in US! Food is amazing, done at the italian way of the south (Napoli): worth to try the pizza, scialatielli with clams, zucchini flower with mozzarella and the fried squid! I have repeated the visit twice, to try more food. Well done!

overall a great italian flare. I love that they offered GF pasta...unfortunately mine was under-cooked . there were about 6 penne noodles i could eat :(

We loved the food. It was like dining in Naples. Very authentic and delicious. Only drawback was the noise level. They need a quiet room for more enjoyable dining because the food warrants it. Right now it is geared for the noisy noisy bar crowd with loud music.

Wow, I don't know where to start.
In the world of restaurants, I am not too picky.

I suppose it spoke volumes when we arrived before our reservation and were told we'd have to wait until a table for 2 opened up. No time frame. We walked up to the bar . No space. When we did order , the waiter walking by , had to return and ask again for our order. The locals that we sat next to laughed, and said we'd be lucky to get a table at all; even with a reservation. Later , at our table , no one came to take our order. Our drinks were empty. No one noticed. When we did order - the food took forever. Order was mixed up.
Not sure I'll ever return.
I wanted to try this restaurant, because their other restaurant in Danville is top notch. Huuuuge disappointment:(

It's the best place within 20 minutes drive from our home and one of our favorite restaurants for any occasion.
The staff are Italians, the manager is super friendly. The food, the drinks, the place, and ambiance are great. Our go to place!

Service was great but pastas were terrible! They had good salads just don't order any ravioli or linguini dishes. Music was so loud we could not carry on a conversation without shouting! Quite disappointed!

Love this place

Short ribs with polenta is always great. Gnocchi is another solid dish. Enjoyed the pollo milanese this time around. Great service as always!

The place was hopping. Service and food was great. The absolute best oysters. Calamari was very good, light, tender and crispy. Banzino was delicious. Finished with the Nutella Calzone Great item.
We'll definitely be back

This is a fun place. The food is very good Cal-Ital with a very authentic Italian component. The wait staff seem to be mostly Italian, and they are friendly and inviting. It also seems to attract a good number of local Italians - always a good sign. The wine list is also quite good but not extensive, featuring some fine CA and Italian bottles and glasses. I especially enjoyed sitting at an outdoor sidewalk table, watching the world go by on a beautiful evening.

We moved to the small dining room next door. The service and food were excellent. It was much quieter and friendly.

Lucanda Positano is one of my favorite go-to restaurants, but unfortunately, the food was not up to par last Saturday night. On the recommendation of our waitress, I ordered the short ribs, which came out dry and uninspiring, I forced myself to eat half of it, but couldn't do the rest. I was honest with her when she asked how it was, and after apologizing, she came back to tell us that she had deducted it from our tab. We were totally floored and very impressed. (If I'd sent it back after first bite, I might have hoped for it, but this was beyond what you would normally expect at the end of the meal.). So despite this one misstep in entree, I will still come back again. Next time I'll order a home-made pasta dish, which never disappoints. By the way, this isn't the first time their excellent customer service has impressed, but it's one of the reasons why I'll keep coming back.

Locanda Positano is now one of my favorite Italian restaurants on the peninsula. Excellent service and authentic Italian dishes. Will be be back.

Very poor pizza--soggy crust, toppings too salty, poorly baked. Expensive wine.

Delicious salmon pizza and octopus/squid salad. As good as I recall their San Mateo restaurant was. Great waiter (Armando). Took a friend for a special birthday lunch, and it was perfect.

We've been here a few times, but very disappointing experience this night. Very high noise levels, tables close together, hard to have a conversation. Appetizers arrived long before drinks. Meals did not come out together, for us or for tables around us. Food not very good.
Only good thing was a delicious complimentary lemoncello at the end.

We enjoy Positano both as a great place to go as a family and as a fun place to go for date night.
The food is always great and the service is wonderful - they always remember us and are so friendly and kind to our kids.

Meatballs were great, (w/ the sauce) Margherita pizza was weak, wine suggested was good, (waiter was knowledgeable) a little too loud for a date, (somewhat) and it was a good experience; over a hundred bucks for 2 was a lot:(

Unique quality food and services was outstanding! We ordered variety of dishes including appetizers, the meat balls was just perfectly prepared!
