Locanda Del Borgo
We serve genuine traditional Italian recipes with our Chef's personal touch, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Our Chef bases his creations on his 25 years experience in the restaurant business.
Our philosophy is to serve free range and naturally raised farm products whenever possible, and we try to support local farmers as much as we can.
Our menu is paired with an Italian based wine list with international accents, including wines from USA, Spain, Australia, Argentina and others.
Lunch: Tuesday - Friday: 11:30am - 2:00pm
One of our favorite places. The food is always terrific and service prompt and friendly. Would strongly recommend
The food was dated. Except for the ravioli special that we had, all the other food including the bread was very lack luster and felt as if it had been contemporary over ten years ago. Our server was in the weeds even though there were empty tables. It's a nice space though. I would recommend an update to the food across the board except maybe the specials if they are truly created as specials.
Great place, but If you really want to have a conversation you need to go later. If you go before 730 you can be quite loud. The service is always lovely and the food has yet to disappoint.
OK seemed like a cute little neighborhood spot I found on OpenTable and looked at the menu and it looked appealing. Upon arrival I noticed they had a full bar my dad loves a bloody Mary he said it was the worst bloody Mary he’s had to date! Our server was nice however not over enthusiastic about his job… We ordered the prosciutto with Burrata to begin, The prosciutto was cut a bit thick and was tough like dried out and the burrata was very watery...
My dad said the meatballs were tough but tasted OK (in the spaghetti and meatballs) the ‘fresh pasta’ was too chewy. I ordered the homemade tagliatelle with eggplant and mozzarella the sauce was good however the homemade noodles tasted so chewy I couldn’t eat them, it was as if they were under cooked and too thick. (more like a thin dumpling but longer.) My step mom had the halibut, again the sauce was tasty but the fish was clearly frozen for sometime. I wish I could give this place a better review it’s a cute neighborhood place
Food average. Pasta cold
Really enjoyed this gem of a restaurant. Highly recommend.
The only thing that bothered me was I ordered a second bottle of a wonderful Italian wine vintage 2015 on wine list and the waiter brought me out a 2016 bottle but didn’t say anything until I noticed and then still charged me the same price
This genuine neighborhood gem serves some of the loveliest Italian food around. The menu changes slightly but still has some favorites that stick around: It is hard NOT to order the gnocchi every time, but there are no bad items on the menu. Portions are generous and beautifully presented, so you will leave satisfied both artistically and gastronomically. This combination of wonderful, warm ambiance with reasonable prices for both the quality and quantify of food make this a repeat spot for either family or business or a nice romantic evening. A single seat at the bar to a group of 8 or more could be comfortable and pleasant. The founder is an absolute delight and the sister restaurant, Café Mercato in the Lowry neighborhood equally delicious. I hope Locanda del Borgo is around for a long, long time It is one of the bright spots in a challenging industry. Thank you for restoring the faith !
We have been to Locando many, many times since it opened. We tell people about it often.
However, this last visit was very disapppointing. The pasta dishes were very ordinary. The pork chop entree was a shadow of its former self. The gelato deserts also not special. The nougat one was bad. I hope this turns around because when it's busy there is a great vibe. We wondered why there were so many empty tables on a Friday night but now we know its because the quality is not there.
We ate outdoors on the shaded patio area. It was a very hot day, but the overhead fans kept us comfortable. Service was properly attentive. Gluten-free pasta was available and it was good. We are regulars as the food here is always excellent (we do have some Sicilian in our DNA).
Totally solid all around. We had a large table, both the service and food were great.
Food is consistently excellent as there were many good choices for my 2 vegetarian friends! Bread not quite as good as it used to be but pasta and salads excellent! 2 house wines were good
Warm Denver evening led us to seating outside, which was a great choice despite some moderate traffic noise. Our waiter was quick to arrive as we sat down and also when our dinner partners came a few minutes later. He was extremely patient as we had drinks, two appetizers, Bruschetta and Brussel Sprouts, plus lots of deliberation over the reasonably wide menu. To say we also took lots of time with catch up conversation before finally ordering didn’t seem to distract him at all...he was great...no pressure at all. The entrees arrived in timely fashion. Three had the daily special...a very wonderful Lasagna that pleased them all. My pasta dish with salmon was good, but the salmon wasn’t too apparent...would not order again. All portions were quite generous. The dessert menu is limited, but we opted out anyway. We will return...a fun evening in the neighborhood.
A delicious and delightful experience. Tucked in a neighborhood, this really is a gem. There were nine of us. The menu has a variety. The quality of the food was nice. Halibut piccata was the special. Delicious. The waiter was efficient, but not invasive. A lovely evening.
Good as usual
First time I was disappointed here. Pork chop, which used to be fantastic, was thin, overdone and came with a very tasteless brown sauce all over it. Huge mound of mashed potatoes to cover up minuscule vegetable serving. All of this made me suspicious that they are seriously cutting corners. Not sure about returning.
Terrible service, but on multiple levels. Wait staff seems understaffed, looks like kitchen runs slow and even management dropped the ball. (We waited 20 mins for the manager to apply a gift card to our check, our waiter was clearly shocked and embarrassed it took so long). No good communication that everything would take so long.
Perfect! Good on all accounts!
Food was good, but service was terrible. It wasn't our waiter's fault. The restaurant was very under-staffed. It took ten minutes to get seated, another fifteen or so minutes to get our orders placed and, all told, 65 minutes from the time of our reservation to get our food.
I decided to give this place another try after a dissapointing experience about 3 months ago, one in which they comped the whole meal because things were so slow. Things got off to a bad start right after arriving on this recent visit. A table of four ladies were just leaving and said they waited forever for their food. The owner came up to them as they were leaving and wasn't polite at all and raised his voice to them saying there was nothing he could do because the restaurant was so busy. Really unprofessional and tacky to talk to a customer that way especially in front of other tables. The table behind us also complained about the lack of service and wait. So, as expected, my group of 4 also had a long wait. Wine came after 30 minutes of sitting down. Food was mediocre and took forever! The staff needs some training and the owner needs to learn about customer service. I will not be going back.
Very disappointing. The meals my wife and ordered were quite sub par for a restaurant touted as high caliber. And to add insult to injury the sausage with caramelized onions pizza we ordered to take home, which cost $16 was absolutely dreadful. It had a smidgen of each ingredient and was essentially tasteless.
We had great hopes as we love quality Italian food. They did not deliver at all.
Locanda is a fantastic Italian find--great wine list, great menu of traditional italian--utterly delicious.
This is a neighborhood gem. It is casual but consistently good.
It was amazing I love going there and I like how we got the best spot. My favorite part was the felling it was a felling we’re the atmosphere was perfect,
We love this restaurant. The food is always good. The service is decent.
I’ve gone happily to Locanda for years but the food Sunday night was very poor quality. I took two couples as a special treat but was embarrassed.
New menu which looks like Denny's. We really enjoyed our appitizer but main courses were ok.
Looks the same but not what it was. New owner?
We visit Locanda about twice a month. This time, the service was a bit slow. The waitress didn't come to get our drink order for quite awhile after we were seated. My sausage and peppers were not that great. The sausage didn't have much spice to it, and there were almost no peppers included - just a couple of red ones and a sea of onions in a thin sauce that didn't have much flavor. I ordered a side of marinara sauce and that helped make it better, but the sausage still wasn't all that good. I only ate half of the order, even though that was my "dinner" rather than appetizer. In some restaurants, the waitperson would notice that and offer to get you something else, or comp the food you didn't enjoy. She did not seem to notice. All the other food I've had here has been good, though, so maybe this was just a one-off. We will definitely come back again.
I have been here twice and it is a secret find! Kind of a unique location. I can't wait to return, the food was amazing! The food is authentic, flavorful and tasty. I am so glad I happened on this neighborhood restaurant.
Excellent food, ambiance, and service. A tad pricey, but we can't wait to go back.
So disappointed as we went on a friends recommendation. I had the halibut special and it was fresh, authentic and delicious but my sisters Caesar was very fishy and the pizza was actually tough!
The worst thing of all was the server. He confessed to being New but we saw him just standing around while we waited over half hour for menus! And that lack of focus continued throughout the long evening.
Love the high quality/clean ingredients! Food was delicious!
While we typically LOVE this restaurant for all kinds of occasions, bring friends and family here frequently, and even order take out from time to time, on this particular night the service we experienced a waiter who was overtly dismissive, downright disrespectful, and frankly made us feel unwelcome in the restaurant. We've never had this happen in the past, but we were made to feel like we were a hassle to deal with as we wanted to sit and catch up before ordering and then finish our wine and chat when we were done with our entrees. Now, I understand that some servers will rush you along when the restaurant is full and there is a wait or a reservation waiting to take the table, but this was a Thursday night and we were very careful to be sure that there was no shortage of tables (and that we were not the last ones in the restaurant). While we will go back, we will definitely request a new server if the same gentleman is assigned to our table.
Service was SLOW - never got the bread we asked for several times. I think they were short of wait staff. Our food was delicious, though.
We returned to this restaurant as invited guests despite past negative experiences. The service remains poor. Only 3 moderate issues tonight but the worst was that I ordered a double-cut pork chop. It came as a single thin chop with one bone. Brought it to the attention of staff who told me that some nights they serve a single chop. Eventually got a discount but they clearly would have taken advantage if nothing was said. The three times we've been have been fraught with service and quality issues. Enough for us.
Everything about our experience was first rate, as it always is. Each of our three appetizers were just right. Meatballs, bruschetta and shrimp and calimari were all excellent. Main courses could not be beat from the specials of the day to menu items. Service was also top notch. Two children and four adults were thoroughly satisfied with all aspects of our visit.
Excellent food and service as usual. Great menu and nightly specials available. Food is prepared to order and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Locanda is a well run, delicious restaurant that I bring friends from out of town to. It's always consistent. The atmosphere is warm and service spot on.
I love this restaurant. I really enjoy that everything on the menu is fresh and home made.
Locanda Del Borgo is a warm, friendly neighborhood restaurant. Homemade pasta is fabulous and they will accomodate special requests to modify ingredients. Nice wine list. All in all a pleasure.
