Located in the spirited, soulful + historical Boyd Hotel, circa 1908, in Deep Ellum, TX. Not quite worth the price for a tasting menu when compared to the quality of service. I do not recommend the wine pairing, it is 1.5 sips of wine per glass. Unfortunately they didn’t have a full bar available. The food was delicious and the portions are far larger than other tasting menus I’ve experienced. I would recommend coming for the food a la carte.

In the past, I always gave Local 5 stars. Last night might have just been an off night. The waiter seemed a bit under-trained and overwhelmed. My previously loved lobster cakes were undercooked. By the time we got the waiter over it was just too late to remedy since everyone else had finished their dinners. That said, these are tough times, especially for staffing restaurants. I have loved Local for years and years and will definitely give them another chance.

It was my Valentine’s gift to my boyfriend. The place was quiet, romantic and very beautiful. Our waiter was splendid and very knowledgeable. We had a wonderful evening. We had the tasting menu, we found the food a little pricey but it was worth it.

A group of us wanted a nice dinner before we went to a concert at The Factory, a nearby live music spot. Local had a cool vibe, great food, and was walking distance from the venue. We gave ourselves about 2 hours and this was pretty sufficient for a casual dinner and a few bottles of wine.

I had not been to Local in a few years and decided to go back. I'm just not that impressed as the cost for the entre is just way to expensive for the size of the meal. An appetizer is about 2 bites and is $20 or more. The scallops for 40 something dollars and were 3 small scallops. It's good and artistic food, but it's not worth it to me. We also had the steak which had a sweet flair to it which is also not a norm (or predicted) for a nice filet.

Aaron was a great server. They held our reservation, even after we were running late. My fiancé doesn’t like red meat, but she cleaned her plate on the two courses in the tasting menu, so major compliments to the chef. The tasting menus was phenomenal, and the wines, that paired, were perfect. We highly recommend for a date night as the location is cozy and romantic. There is nothing I could say bad about Local. 10/10. Will be back again.

It’s always a good time at LOCAL! The service is wonderful and food is delicious! I brought my mom who’s visiting for Thanksgiving, for her birthday the day before! She’s very picky and doesn’t eat out very often, however she totally enjoyed EVERYTHING! We had our wedding reception here so LOCAL has a special place in our heart ♥️ WE LOVE IT and Tracy the owner is the BEST! This place is truly “THE Hidden” gem of Deep Ellum.

Did the tasting menu with pairings. Everything was wonderful except the two red meat dishes. The short rib was tough and very dry. The tenderloin was so heavily seasoned and sauced it completely overwhelmed everything. My guest and I weren’t able to eat it. But the butternut squash soup and the seafood dishes were wonderful.

The chef/owner came to our table to greet us. That was very nice. Server did not ask how I wanted my steak cooked & when I asked her she said it come out medium rare. Fried Green Beans were excellent & so was the soup. I did not like the steak. It was almost well done. My husband & I switched plates & I had the scallops. It was also overcooked. At some point I asked the server for water but she forgot & had to ask her 2nd time. There was only one customer besides us so it was not busy. I ordered Souffle & that was delicious. Truly enjoyed that. Sorry I did not enjoy our entrees here.

This is a wonderful addition to Deep Ellum’s restaurant scene with modern, understated decor to enjoy fine dining. The prefix dinner menu does not disappoint in its presentation and variety. The only disappointment, to it however, was the overwhelming amount of salt in all the food. By the time the fourth (out of nine) dishes arrived, my tastebuds were fatigued from the over salted dishes. I think I would also skip the wine pairing option on a future visit. Seemed a bit pricey for the size pours that accompanied each dish. I do hope the chef backs off on the salt content as I would love to return here again.

The chef’s personal twist on several of the dishes, while unique, ultimately detracted from the flavor and texture of the food. Presentation was lovely, though. We ordered ~10 menu items and ~1.75 of them were more than “just okay”. I left a large tip because the service was excellent, but I definitely expected more flavor (and honestly larger portions) at this price point. It was great to catch up with my friend somewhere quiet like this, but next time we’ll just go to Nobu or something.
