Portions were small, but very high quality. The cocktails were incredible. The staff.. at least our server.. was polite and accurate, but not particularly engaging or informative. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary, but there was no ask if this was a special occasion. He made no recommendations of cuisine or wine pairings, no asks if we’d been there before, no story about the restaurant’s history or vision. He offered nothing at all other than what we asked for. We enjoyed our meal, but at this price, you can find a more memorable experience.
Local never disappoints. My wife and I dine here at least twice a year and are always treated with the best food and service.
Went to LOCAL for my boyfriend’s birthday and they were so accommodating! They helped me with the reservation and planning out the details in advance- we did the tasting menu with wine pairings. I really feel they went out of their way to make sure it was a special experience- the service was fantastic and the food was just amazing!
Likely my favorite restaurant in Dallas or at least in the top two. The only thing I would change would be for them to have a full bar. This time I had the tasting menu which I had not seen before. It was great. The wine paring was really good as well. I have been going there for years and have never been disappointed.
Favorite restaurant in Dallas. Our go-to special occasion restaurant.
Quaint, historical yet elegantly restored old hotel. Bartender was excellent and relayed history. Waitress was good. Food was mediocre. Quite expensive.
Local is a great little restaurant. Food is outstanding. Service great.
This chic little historic boutique hotel is now home to a chic, romantic restaurant, Local. The atmosphere was sophisticated and romantic. Dim lighting, specialty cocktails and high-end service make this restaurant a perfect place for a special date or special occasion. The food was spectacular and the details were not spared on every item we ordered. From the steak and sea bass (which both melted in your mouth like butter) to our sweet ending of the fountain plate, no morsel was left. I would highly recommend Local to anyone looking for a high-end meal and experience, without the stuffy atmosphere.
The seven course tasting was wonderful. Ambiance waa so nice ave we will be back soon!
Food was amazing, we did the course meal and the staff were incredible!
All of the food was really nice including the salty spiced mixed nuts on our table when we arrived, good wine selections, appetizers, main courses, and sides were all great. We had a large group of 7 at which they accommodated us with a semi private table that could have hosted 8 to 10, 12 max. Waitstaff were all extremely accommodating and friendly. I believe the prices we very reasonable and portions appropriate. Our table had the sea bass, scallops, short ribs, filet, and a burger (D magazine award winner). Try the fried green beans and the mac and cheese. Ambiance was dark, slightly museum lite, but the soft techno music did not distract but helped lighten the mood. In short we had a great time. I’d think it a good date or couples destination.
A lot of large groups made service very slow ... nearly 3 hours
I love the speakeasy atmosphere; it's a fantastic place for a date night or GNO. The drinks were strong/ well made, and the foods’ taste and presentation were on point.
Be prepared to pay; it's pretty expensive. Be prepared to wait. It took a substantial amount of time for them to bring out our food, and it wasn't packed at all.
I felt VERY misled by the fact that their menu advertises "cocktails" but, in fact, they do not have a full liquor license. The food was well prepared, fairly creative, tasted very good and was presented well... but it was a bit under-portioned and a bit over-priced.
This was a wonderful experience. I cannot stop thinking of the great dishes I had. We did the chefs tasting menu with wine pairings and it was outstanding. Which one was my favorite? I don’t know. Each dish was unique and flavorful. However I do need to call out the turnip soup with carrot crackles. Excellent.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. It isn’t too noisy and the ambiance was comforting. Could turn up the lighting just a smidge.
Great place. Recommended.
Literally the best restaurant in the city.
Such a great find. Dim and Cozy. Unique foods. Great atmosphere and service! Delish complimentary seasoned nuts and a tiny soup sample were a perfect touch to start the evening. I had the tuna tar tar, and my date had the sea bass...outstanding!! Beer and wine only with smallish wine selection, especially by the glass. Parking on side of building, so that’s awesome! Highly recommend for a date and then add on live music at so many places in Deep Ellum!
The food was exquisite. And the staff were all amazing and friendly.
Had to wait too long for table but a great dining experience
We enjoyed every minute of it and felt very welcome.
Our server was awful. He was awkward, rude, and seemed in over his head. I don’t think he meant to be rude but he did things like walk away while we were trying to ask him a question and he even set food in front of me, realized it was not mine and picked it back up and ran away. He didn’t say anything about it.
Was a special night for us but the waitress was non attentive. Every other table in the room was offered complementary champagne to celebrate their restaurant’s birthday, except us. Everything else was fine, I guess. Just a negative experience.
We will definitely return Local! The food was excellent and the service knowledgeable and friendly. Great mixed drink and wine list.
We had tuna carpacio and the lobster cake for appetizers, followed by our entrees of Osso Bucco and Sea bass with risotto. Everything was exceptional.
The deserts are also not to be missed. Home made ice cream and fudge sauce is worth the trip by itself.
The food was terrific, service professional and ambiance great - first time there but it wont be the last time
Local is my absolute favorite restaurant in Dallas!
We both had the tasting menu, which was exceptional. Each of the 8 courses, and the amuse bouche were a spectacular blend of distinct intense flavors, enhanced by the well selected wine pairings. The waiter’s timing was perfect, and his descriptions of both the courses and the wines were precise and concise.
Tucked away on Elm street is this neon sign LOCAL. Very old Dallas hotel now whose lobby is a 5 star fine dining establishment. Wasn't even sure where the front door was but inside we were treated like royalty. Quiet, romantic, just a perfect place for he dinner we were looking for. Great food. Had crusted sea bass with creamy risotto. Lobster cake appetizer and they brought us each a complimentary champagne to celebrate their 15th year anniversary. Who would have ever know of this gem. Staff was perfect. Loved the entire experience. I can't wait to go back. So glad we found this place.
Great little spot in Deep Ellum with a friendly personable staff! The food was excellent from the amuse bouche to the entree. The lobster cake appetizer was phenomenal and the filet was cooked perfectly. Our waitress made great recommendations and was very attentive. Overall great experience.
Top 5 burger in Dallas! All around awesome experience...
Exquisite cuisine. Excellent wine list and cocktail menu. Warm, cozy and exceptionally professional, but genuinely friendly staff. Perfect lighting, music and decor making for a fantastic date night experience. One of my absolute favorite dining destinations in Dallas! @NommingAbout on Instagram.
Located in the historic Boyd Hotel, landmarked as the oldest standing hotel in Dallas, LOCAL is a fascinating venue with a warm ambiance, happy vibe and exquisite menu selections masterfully created by Chef/Owner, Tracy Miller. See Highlights on Instagram @NommingAbout
We chose this for a pre Music Hall event & we were over the top pleased with the atmosphere & the food. It was our 1st visit but for certain not our last!!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. We’ve had the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairing twice and it has been superb both times. Perfectly paired wines, great portions for a seven course meal, good timing, unique flavors. A wonderful relaxing night out for harried parents!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Dallas!
We love this restaurant! It is consistently excellent service and food. It is one of the few restaurants in dalllas that you can hear one another. We will keep coming back!
Delicious special but terribly overpriced at $50. Wine per glass was atleast $15. The food is good but not as good as it should be for the prices. There is enough dining options in dallas to find better quality for a lower price.
Absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere was romantic and the service was spectacular. Wonderully prepared food with nuances. We were served an unexpected demitasse of black eyed pea soup. The steak on polenta was perfect. The wine list was not extensive but good. A little expesive but the trip was worth it.
Service was nice and the noise level was quiet. Nice change of pace from most Dallas restaurants where you can barely hear the person across the table. Menu was diverse. I ordered the sea bass and my wife ordered the osso bucco. My dish was way under seasoned...very bland. My wife’s osso bucco had nice flavor but was a tad dry....overall not bad. The wilted kale we ordered must have been hit with a salt bomb...way too salty. Drink prices are about $2-$3 overpriced. $8 for a beer and $16 for a glass of wine?? All in all we spent $180 (including tip) and I felt like I left with much to be desired. I could have spent less at one of Dallas’ numerous restaurants and been more satisfied from a value standpoint. BUT, this restaurant is quaint and nice. It means well and the menu items can accommodate most everyone in your party. Perhaps it was just an “off” night in the kitchen.
