Housed in the Historic Boyd Hotel, Local offers an upscale modern American menu. Our cuisine is seasonally focused, uncluttered and executed with precision. We use the highest quality and freshest ingredients, such as meat products from Niman Ranch and seafood from Connolly's in Boston. Many dishes feature breads made from scratch and all of our desserts, including our sorbets and ice cream, are made in-house. Never overbearing, entrees are innovative yet classic, simple yet refined.

Wine pairings were excellent. Space is cool. People are super hip. Food was meh.
Ordered the tasting menu for our table of 4, with pairings. Dishes were fine but too safe and un-inventive for the price point. I get the simple theme, but I expected to see more of the chef's mark here. Several of the dishes were over-salted. Lacked the pop one would expect from a ~$500 dinner.
Be advised--the bar here does not serve liquor. I had no idea. That started things off poorly, and it was downhill from there.
The food is excellent but our server was very uninformative. She never volunteered food descriptions and when specifically asked was extremely short and acted bored . We could hear the other server who was quite the opposite so we just had the one bad server I guess.
Very clean and well maintained restaurant. The service was great, both our server and the management took special interest in our dining experience. However, I must say I wasn't overly impressed with my meal. I can tell that the chef and his/her team put a lot of effort into our dishes however I simply didn't find them to be that good. I'm not particularly sophisticated when it comes to critiquing fine dinning, but I have been to many great restaurants and just didn't find my meal to be on par with similar places.
Love this place and it has been one of our favorites since moving to Dallas. The bar is the best place for quiet conversation and to feel far away from Dallas - you'd swear you were in a hidden gem in NYC. I must say, however, that having Fox News on in the incredibly serene, intimate bar was a huge turn-off and mood killer. A restaurant where it's typical to drop $200 for dinner for two doesn't need a TV at all.....the amazing ambiance is best left unplugged. Food wonderful, as always.
My girlfriend and I showed up 3 minutes early for our reservation. No one greeted us! I stepped outside to meet friends that were to accompany us. We spoke outide for 5-7 minutes. Friends and I entered the restaurant to my girlfriend standing alone, still YET TO BE GREETED! We waited, looked around and finally caught the eye of short haired lady after 15 minutes. Instead of a hello and a smile we received a "yes".
Granted this was a Friday night at 7, but we did have reservations. Furthermore, one can completely view the main dining room from all angles, meaning that every server and employee on the floor witnessed a group of patrons standing at the door of this small establishment.
Needless to say, we left and ate at another restaurant. We will not be going back as excited patrons eager for a new dining experience appear to be of no concern to local.
We had the seven course tasting menu, with wine pairings, for $100.00 per person, an outstanding value. The food at Local is consistently good (you can tell when the chef is the owner). My only constructive comment is that I think the tasting menu experience would be more complete if the servers were a bit more polished and informed about the menu and the wine pairings. The wines were identified, but there was very little in the way of a description, or an explanation of why they were chosen to pair with the course.
This is a very minor criticism, however, and I still recommend this restaurant highly!
An amazing meal experience! We went for a birthday dinner and everything was perfect. We had the fried green beans, rainbow beet salad and honey nut squash soups as starters. All were perfectly executed, the sip for the green beans and dressing on the salad were fresh and flavorful. All three entrees were delicious and included The tenderloin special of the night which was over a mushroom onion risotto which looked delicious, the meat was perfectly cooked. Another choice was the tenderloin over an inventive Panko crusted tater tots which also looked great, but I wasn't able to get a taste, as they seemed to disappear rapidly. The taste of the rare tenderloin from that dish was delightful and different from the special entree. I had a spectacular Pork Osso Bucco, with cheddar grits and wilted greens. Flavor packed and again delightful execution. The chocolate cake and spice cake desserts with homemade ice cream capped off a terrific experience. What was even better was the staff attentiveness, the terrific Amuse Bouche presentation of tomato & roasted basil soup and the candied cranberry shortbread cookies that came with the check. It was a fantastic dining experience and will be a regular for us going forward. You have to experience Local!
I took an important client from the Bay Area to Local last week, we both had the Chef's Menu with wine pairings, and she was blown away! It really was impressive, and a bargain at $100 per person, including wine. They were also extremely accommodating with modifications to the menu, which many restaurants are not. The food and the service were both outstanding.
Very highly recommended! I'm going back soon with my wife!
I was by myself and they served me really well, without rushing. The lamb loin was juicy, well seasoned, tender. Wine list is somewhat limited, but I got a decent glass of Malbec. NOTE: They have a delicious Chocolate desert (not the cake), that takes some 20min to prepare. So, ask in advance.
We were so excited to try this restaurant for a girl's night out, and are all in the restaurant business. Service was great and it was nice to see the owner/chef working. The food was disappointing in ways that could have easily been avoided. My salmon was incredibly dry and the fava puree was way too salty. The risotto under the my friend's sea bass was so gummy, that it didn't even taste like risotto, but gelatin. We had 2 nice bottles of wine and our bill was over $400 for 3 people, so we were really hoping for a better meal. We will definitely try you again, hoping that it was just an off night. We do love the cocktails and the atmosphere.
We went for restaurant week. Even though there were only two choices for each course (i would expect three), they were choices we liked so we both got different selections for each course. Everything was very good except for the spice cake, which was very dry. The peach ice cream was good, though there was a very small amount. The service was good, just right. Pam was an excellent server.
Ladies night at Local last Friday. Food was spectacular, I think we ordered every small plate and shared them all (Lobster cakes for the win!). We had tons of their Champagne Drink (champagne with a grapefruit and Rosemary sorbet). And while we were much too loud and rowdy for a Friday at 5:30 at Local, the server and bartender were really nice and accommodating. Thank you so much Local!
Dinner at Local was outstanding. We had the 7-course tasting menu for $70, and each course was fantastic. Excellent soup, amazing salad, salmon, lamb, beef tenderloin, dessert... all just great. A pretty impressive value for the amount of quality food as well. Service was perfect, everything timed just right. Will definitely be back.
