This was my 2nd time dining at local. I brought a client as a thank you for doing business with me. I totally forgot they do not serve hard liquor only wine. My client was fine not getting his vodka tonic.
Loved the warmed nuts that are served and the demi cup of soup once you are seated. The booth seating is super comfortable and it gave me a good view of the other patrons.
My guest and husband ordered the Chefs tasting menu. I ordered the friend green beans to share which I love and the bowl of tomato soup with mini grilled cheese. The grilled cheese’ melt in your mouth. The timing of each course was on que.
The wine selection was ok. My guest & husband felt they had just the right amount of food with the 7 courses.
We will definitely visit local again. I’m going to order those fried green beans for carry out in the near future. Highly recommend this deep ellum restaurant.
My boyfriend & I had an amazing experience dining at Local this past Saturday. The service was on point, including social distancing & servers wearing their masks correctly. We opted to do the tasting menu with the wine pairings, which I would highly recommend. Admittedly I’m a relatively picky eater, so normally do not care for tasting menus, but all of the selections were items from the main menu, & were delicious & beautifully presented. We had only been to Local one time prior, several years ago, but definitely plan to return in the near future!
Favorite place in Dallas. Only compliant is that they don't have a full bar. The food and service are impeccable!
Wonderful experience in this lovely old hotel.. sensational food and service.. only thing wrong was the Brussels.. as they were all different sizes some were a little undercooked.. but still 5/5
Enjoyed a pre fix 8 course meal and everything was wonderful. Our waiter was very nice!
Wonderful! We have lived in the neighborhood for 5 years and had never heard of this place We did the chefs tasting menu with wine pairing and it was great!
Local is always delicious with enough menu variety to make everyone happy. We were very pleased with the covid precautions as well.
Very good food and service. Quiet atmosphere in a overlooked area.
Do yourself a favor and visit Local.. just not too many :) ... selfishly want to keep it a hidden gem.
Our food was amazing and the wait staff was very attentive. We will definitely be going back here again!
Some of the very best food in Dallas! Absolutely fresh and fantastic! It is pricey, but so special, memorable, worth it! Food is tiny, cute, and served on sizable plates, but Oh so tasty! GREAT!
Tracy sure can cook! I love Local, so glad it is reopened.
Our favorite date night restaurant for years. Always wonderful.
Our sons completion of certifications
Very good food!
We enjoyed a fun tasting menu & wine pairing here. I thought it was definitely great value for money, especially the wine! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and they accommodated my request for a pescatarian version of the tasting menu, giving me great alternatives (including sea bass!) for the two beef & pork options on the menu. The items on the tasting menu were varied, creative, & fun to eat. I do think some of them lacked a bit of flavor- I remember the halibut gnocchi dish sounded amazing on the menu but bland in reality. Overall though I enjoyed our night here.
Always amazed when dining at Local.
We did the chefs tasting and it was fantastic! We were SO full!
Nice place. Felt rushed and service was much lower quality than expected.
Perfect date night. Pleasantly surprised by complimentary taste of celery root soup, which was beyond delicious. The arugula salad was fantastic and the lobster cake is a must try. Both the burger and the steak were cooked perfectly and the homemade ketchup was a memorable accompaniment. Service was perfect and not rushed. Thank you again. We will be back.
Don’t miss the complimentary parking right on Elm st.
I ordered Chef’s Tasting with wine
Three of the course were salty so I had to send them back.
Chef or waiter did not care they never asked me if I want something else for replacement
They still charged me for the whole price $120.00 Chef’s Tasting but basically I had soup ,salad ,sorbet ,fish of course little tiny portions because Chef’s Tasting!
Table in front of me (4 customers) where having the same Chef’s Tasting ,the kitchen decided to send out dishes at the same time , so if one of the customers of the table in front of me went to the bathroom(happened three times ) the kitchen hold the next dishes until customer come back to the table including MINE ! Why did I needed wait for them ???
I had dinner at Local 4 times before and I was really excited to have another amazing experience
NO COMING BACK AGAIN
We had the chef’s special and all 7 courses were fabulous! We got as much off the plate as we could for each course. Truly wonderful and the atmosphere is unique.
We ordered the chef's tasting and everything was awesome. Each tasting was delicious and the perfect size. We also did the wine pairing, I would highly recommend both!
The food was, as always, excellent. The service was way too slow - we dined for over 2 hours. One shouldn't have to wait more than 20 minutes for a cocktail. And, details are important - the server should have wiped down/cleaned the table between courses. The hostess was amazing - she worked so hard - never stopped and so gracious. All of that being said, we will be back because the food is so good.
The tasting menu was incredible. We had a lovely time.
Great evening with friends after spending the day on The Texas Whiskey Trail. The food was outstanding with all 8 of us highly satisfied with our various choices. My only concern was that one couple ordered the “tasting” menu with 7 courses. The waiter did his best to serve one couple 7 small plates while trying to coordinate the 2 courses for the rest of the group. The result was a long 2 hour dinner with 6 watching 2 taste small plates. I suggest that this difficulty should be explained to the table prior to ordering.
We returned to Dallas after a nearly 10 year hiatus. The food here is still as outstanding as it was when we left!
Local is an amazing "secret" in Deep Ellum. It has been around for a long time and the food is consistently top notch. The ambiance of the former hotel it is inside is also very cool. This is one of our goto restaurants in Deep Ellum and if you try it, it will become one of yours too.
I love the Local. Amazing food. We did the set seven course and it was amazing. The bartender is like you always new him. It is in a great part of town, but mature enough to have a conversation and a great night.
My wife and I have been coming to local for roughly 10 years now. Each time had great service and food, but something was a bit off this time around. We typically get the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing since anytime we visit, it is a special occasion. While the food was delicious, the portions were considerably smaller than we had experienced in the past - leaving us wanting just a little more. Further, we had to wait for our wine to arrive after the food had already been placed on the table - generally we wouldn't mind this, but some waits were longer and felt as though we had been forgotten. Again, the flavors were fantastic, but everything else was just a little off. Not typical of our experience at this great restaurant.
Love the food here but wow the service was INCREDIBLY slow for a Saturday night. We were there close to 30 mins before I anyone took our drink order. Even parties of two were not being serviced in a timely manner. Was disappointed. A few people in my party had never been before. I was trying to introduce them.
Food was fantastic... we will be back!!!
Great food and staff
Most of the food was very good. The steak was the exception which was gristly and rubbery. All of their drinks are or are based on wine, saki and beer. However, one pick of wine was sold out, another we got the last bottle. So drinks were limited. Finally, for the prices, service was not at par. We actually had to ask for utensils at one point.
Tracy is turning it out better than ever.
I love this place and do not go often enough.
I booked this for out of town clients staying close by and they really enjoyed it. Can’t go wrong with this restaurant!
We had an overall enjoyable evening. Both my wife and I had the tasting menu with wine pairings. We found all the wine selections to be mild but agreeable. My main disappointment was a lack of bold flavors and selections. Case in point, the tasting menu had a simple salad with roasted brussel sprouts as one of the courses - while it didn’t taste bad; it doesn’t impress either. When I pay for a tasting menu, I want to experience the best and most adventurous selections from the chef’s repertoire not a salad.
Had dinner here for NYE. Food was great when we finally got it but this was the Worst service we have ever experienced from any restaurant.
Food was great, but service was rough. Was there nearly 2 1/2 hours and had to go to the bar to get water and had to clear some of our own dishes. Not sure if they were low staffed or what but it was along night.
We dined on 12/31 to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant wasn’t full when we were seated at 620pm. It was clear from the start they were short staffed. We tried to give them the benefit of doubt since it was NYE, but they failed at even the simple things. We had to ask 3 times to get a water refill. The service was so bad that the 7 course tasting menu took 3.5 hours. It wasn’t until course 6 (2.5 hours in) that the waitress finally apologized for the slow service. This was supposed to be a special night and it was a huge letdown.
It’s New Years Eve and the service was atrocious. The food was great but I have never had service that bad at that price!
