Tupelo Honey - Downtown Asheville
Made the reservation through Opentable. got there only to find out it has closed for business.
Great good! Can’t wait to go back!
The entrees designed for two people to share where well thought out, affordable, plenty of food to share, and delicious!
Food was delicious and well prepared. Local farm to table purveyors wonderful.
A real foodie find.
We came on a Tuesday night at 7:15 PM. I was surprised that they were quite empty with only a few tables occupied. Service was excellent. We both had the trail which was very good as many other diners have noted. Slightly salty but not that much. Served in a wonderful broth with escarole and boiled potatoes. Potatoes were just a little too firm. I would’ve given it a few more minutes. That said overall a good experience would recommend a restaurant but as some have noted the menu is very limited and might not appeal to many.
Superb cuisine, creative flair, attentive friendly service. Best meal our trip to AVL
Really liked the cauliflower - just gorgeous. Someone in the kitchen has a heavy hand with salt. The fish on Saturday was overly salty and I love salt...it was bad.
I was very disappointed in the dinner I had at Local Provisions with a friend who was visiting from out of town. We got the snapper entree for two and the roasted cauliflower. The snapper and the accompanying turnips and bok choy were incredibly salty to the point of being inedible for me. Cauliflower was basically served on garlic mayonnaise. I will not return.
The food was acceptable, but not really worth the price. The restaurant has very little ambiance and the service - at least as we experienced it - was weak, impersonal and slow. The wine list and availability was also poor. Overall, not worth it.
Excellent food with simple menu. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Very friendly host and the trout was delicious! Our server seemed nervous and was slow to notice when we needed her, even though the restaurant was not busy. We still enjoyed our dining experience overall.
After reading about LP in many different places we were excited to get a reservation for Saturday night, however the service was so poor we did not even make it to the food. We walked in and the hostess station was completely empty and had to wait for 10 minutes until the hostess came to the station with a bottle of wine and two glasses in her hand. With no apology or explanation she just quickly whisked us to a table. Once there our server passed us by twice without acknowledging us and stopped by on the third pass of our table. That process taking another 10-15 minutes before we were brought our drinks. After witnessing the hostess move from busing tables to seating a long line at the door this place clearly is struggling on providing good service. We found another wonderful restaurant that gave us one of the best meals of our lives and will not be back to LP. The hostess at a minimum bought us a drink So they will get some credit for that. Would not recommend the restaurant due to poor service.
Everything was delicious. I felt the portion sizes, specially for the price, were very small..I don't think I've ever had just one half of a trout before, so it was less than 5 oz. it was delicious, tho...as was the beet salad.
The cocktails were good. The trout was chirpy and flaky and duck was delicious. Our server Sandy was a gem and was very helpful with food description. Over all good but not imaginative with their preparations.
Service, drinks, and food were all very much so on point. The broccolini was outstanding, the grits on the vegetable plate were some of the best we've had, and the green tomatoes and flank steak closely followed those. Great food from a restaurant sourcing local ingredients and treating them with the proper respect.
Loved our experience here. Had seen episode of Bizarre Foods where this restaurant was highlighted and decided to make this a stop. Also since we were doing a foraging tour that morning and found out they would prepare what you find and present as free appetizer it was definitely right choice. Wife and I had the trout and it was delicious. Appetizer was awesome also. Will definitely visit again when back in town.
The decor is a bit austere. The food is delicious and fresh, if not particularly imaginative.
Really enjoyed dinner here. Asheville is all about farm to table but Local Provisions is way more creative than others. All our dishes came straight out of the kitchen and were fabulous. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly and the wine list gave us lots of great options. Will be back.
Had a really nice dinner here. The bread with the sorghum butter was delicious. And we got an arugula salad and the chicken dish. For two women who are light eaters that was perfect. We loved it
The food was delicious, though the menu was organized a bit oddly. The service was abysmal. We waited over an hour for one person in our party to get a burger. The waitress was rude and defensive and offered no apology. Asheville offers so many great dining options. I won't be returning to this place.
Loved the trout entree! My husband had the chicken and it came with delicious greens. Our table shared the 3 desserts offered, and thought they were marvelous!
First time at Local Provisions and very pleased with the food and service. Menu is not extensive but offers good range between meat, fish and vegetarian. Everything is locally sourced and fresh. Salads were very tasty and chicken and trout entrees were terrific.
We very much enjoyed a late dinner here in a Friday. Our waitress was excellent and attentive. The menu is limited but outstanding. Particularly enjoyed the arugula salad and flank steak. Chocolate dessert was to die for. Had a very nice Bottle of Tempranillo to top things off.
Was our first time in Asheville and were looking for a local place for a good meal. This was recommended by a local that we met, and we had a good meal, great service in a nice setting.
The decor, location, service and FOOD was spot on! Cocktail menu was creative and delicious. My friends and I ate brunch here and everything we all got was so delicious. You can tell they put thought and heart into their menu. We also had the coffee press and it was absolutely the best coffee I've ever had. I look forward for my next trip to Asheville so I can brunch here again.
Ricky's Skillet (get your eggs scrambled!)
Biscuits and Gravy
Didn't order the fried oysters but definitely want to next time
Kimchi Bloody Mary looked awesome
Food was good, but the kitchen was very slow.
The restaurant said the reservation made through opentable was not received! I showed the receptionist my reservation on the phone and she shrugged her shoulder!
We chose Local Provisions for a friend's special birthday evening and we're extremely disappointed. The menu which was online bore no relation whatever to the menu that evening. We enjoy sharing a number of dishes but there really weren't many listed that would work as shareable. We chose the Charcuterie plate and roasted peppers - both were adequate but not exceptional. Everything - cocktails, wine, food - was extremely overpriced. I won't be returning.
The fusion cuisine is creative and tasty. The service was excellent. The craft cocktails amazing. That said, the prices are unreasonably high. I won't be back. I'm a local who can't afford that kind of inflation. Among the large plates only the burger was a decent value.
Another go to for visits to Asheville. Great appetizers and small plates. Good wine list. And conversation friendly. I do not understand why always empty.
This place features locally sourced foods prepared in imaginative ways. We fell victim to trying too many things, each one better than the last.
We found the trout and the broth to very memorable. The eggplant spread and charcuterie plate were stand outs as well. The dessert menu only features three choices but a long list of dessert wines.
The hard surfaces in the restaurant create a noisy dinner. Next time we will ask for an outside table which permits us to bring our dog.
Small menu with fresh ingredients well prepared. Our waiter was very helpful.
A wonderful dining experience. Great interaction with the staff--although it was a slow night. And the food exceeded our expectations, which were admittedly high given other reviews. It was creative, well prepared, and beautifully presented. If we lived in Asheville, we would go there regularly.
Please purchase blinds for large windows so the sun isn't in everyone's eyes during dinner.
Great Seasonal Foods with wonderful attentive sevice
We had great service and inventive food. It is deserving of the great reputation. Make sure to save enough time to find parking.
Food was alright but not a good value. Service was good and selection minimal. My friends and I live here and will not be going back. We working in the service industry too and will not recommend this place to our guest. Sad when Asheville is a great "foodie" town. As this city continues to grow, Local Provisions will not make it here.
My husband and I dined on Sunday evening for his birthday. I was very excited based on Eater's recommendation. We started with the gamay rose which was delicious. First app we had were the pickled vegetables. They were very good, but the peaches absorbed way too much vinegar and scorched my palette. The mozzarella salad was fantastic- maybe a little too much Japanese basil. Then we shared the rabbit which was cooked perfectly, but was sitting in an over salted broth. Our server asked us if we were thinking about dessert while we were eating dinner.
I also thought a restaurant serving local food should have a warmer interior design. The grey blank walls was a bit off putting.
I don't normally leave bad reviews, but the combination of events compelled me to write this.
Terrible food, the steak was tough and had a very nasty green paste all over it, the appetizers were also weird and tasted horrible. Just avoid this place all together
The food was good, but wrong dishes were brought out and one of our party was told when everyone but her had received their dishes was she told that what she ordered was not no longer available. This left her to be eating once everyone was finished already. The restaurant did not offer any fix except she could order something else at the same price. On a positive note, we had a friend call ahead and order a bottle of wine which went flawlessly.
