What Insiders Are Saying
Local Kitchen + Wine Bar is the neighborhood spot in Santa Monica the rest of the city is jealous of.
For me Local is a regular stop for a meal I can count on. Food, service and ambiance consistent, I can settle in and know I’m going to enjoy myself. So many things good on the menu, but I will say I think their pizza crust is the best I’ve eaten this side of Italy.
The agnolotti was amazing. Pizzas are fantastic. Great gem and good for brunch.
Great food and service, comfortable room but sadly the noise level is
agonizing and super hard to talk to anyone you are dining with, maybe
sitting outside might be better when it's not cold outside.
We drive from Glendale to have dinner with our son here when he has business in Santa Monica. Great food, wait staff was very knowledgeable about beer -) We'll be back!
The food is quite good but I've found service to be lacking every time I go. And, I never remember this fact until I dine there... and that is the reason I don't go more often. Too bad because it could be a go-to place for me.
Good food, wine, and service.
Even with two kids in tow , so enjoyable
Killer thin crust pizza. Try the squash pesto. A great neighborhood gem.
My girlfriend and I have been hitting up Local for quite some time now, and I've never been let down. Their pappardelle pasta is out of this world. Their pizzas are great. The drinks are delicious. Always friendly service, and delicious food. Highly recommend.
Yummy food and great service- what more can you want. Try this place. Don’t expect large portions here though but the taste makes up for the lack of size.
Great food and service. Always delighted to dine there!
The food here is always wonderful, however the severing sizes leave a little to be desired. I'm someone who always takes home leftovers, so I actually like when I go to restaurant and clean my plate, but my scallops while amazingly delicious, were $32 for three, along with a some pure and four small sun chokes. It just felt a little small for the large price tag.
A bit noisy inside the restaurant but we still enjoyed the visit
Always enjoyed our dinner and lunch, exceptional service
Have been wanting to try this place for a while and very glad we finally did. Food was inventive and delicious; pizza, pasta, salad were all really tasty and seemingly using very fresh and high quality ingredients. Service was spot on for the style of restaurant, attentive enough but not overbearing. Will definitely return.
It’s just a great LOCAL unpretentious neighborhood gem. I’m essentially vegan but if at a loss/or rare occasions I will have shrimp/scallops & I can do cheese less pizza! The pizzas ARE amazing as are the chopped salad ( I do it with no bacon- the dressing = ❤️), the scallops are delicious & the Gitarra pasta, the broccoli, the flatbread....all SO amazing..I guess I’m saying that even a vegan/pescatarian or vegetarian can make it around the menu ! I’m a third generation Santa Monica/Venice Native & this restaurant truly does feel local, cozy and inviting
I don't remember the food being as salty as it was during my last visit to the restaurant. Also, the cheese on the pizza was not warm.
My husband and friends (and I) absolutely love Local! The food is terrific and the staff is delightful! Kudos!!
My husband and I stopped in for a quick light meal before a show. We were greeted by friendly hosts and were quickly served. I ordered a specialty cocktail that I did not like so they replaced it without a question or huff!! The pizza was fabulous. Can’t wait to go back
Lovely waiters and service. A little too loud and noisy for my tastes but I'd still return. Music too loud on top of noisy conversations but most restaurants don't seem to take that into consideration. I wish they would.
Awesome service, best truffle pizza I’ve had in LA (and I’ve tried it EVERYWHERE)
Our server was great - he was really professional but had a fun, jovial personality. The food he recommended was on point (artichoke hearts, cheese & salami plate, truffle pizza). The cocktails were delicious - one (three) of the best margaritas I've had.
There are a number of good places to eat in the neighborhood, but none that feel as if a super-talented chef was in the back taking great care to ensure that patrons have a great dining experience. This is food you smell, savor, and delight in eating. Always fresh, always inventive, always high-quality. The cocktails are all interesting and tasty and excellent, and the service is always attentive and fun. I highly recommend this joint.
We made a reservation for 4 at 9pm. The host was very rude to us. Our table wasn’t ready. They sat us at the uncomfortable pizza bar 20 minutes after our reservation should have been seated at a table. Then, no waiter ever came over until I complained. Then instead of taking our order, they moved us to a table... which would have been good if it was the size of a 4 seater, but it was tiny. Keep in mind, the host kept reminding us that the restaurant closes at 10 and we might not be served. Definitely wouldn’t have come if they hadn’t said there was a table available at 9 for our party. Ended up seated at 9:30 at a less than adequate table.
Food was acceptable, drinks were good. Everything was expensive.
Best mushroom pizza around, fresh and done just right 5*. Brick chicken was excellent, tender and tasty 5*. The lamb balls are good although I am not a lamb fan 4. Brussels sprouts done perfectly although a tad sweet4. The chopped salad very enjoyable 5.
1) the pappardelle with meat sauce was a bit soft and not too tasty, should be creamier and spicy 1*
2) the chopped salad was barely enough but $16, should be $10-12 max
3) I cannot stand tiramisu (just damn boring) but that was probably the only choice besides gelato, ice cream and sherbet-type things none of which I eat, so forced 1*
4) The margarita was tiny and not particularly tasty $15 literally 2 big sips. Should be twice as big for $12 max. 1*
We loved the lunch menu. Our truffle pizza was an outstanding thin crust, mushroom delight! The Brussel sprouts were charred and yummy. The stone fruit salad was fresh and delightful, although I would have liked the fruit sliced in bite size pieces. This did not distract from the enjoyment of the salad, which was not over dressed and yummy. I look forward to my next visit!
The food, service, and atmosphere are all excellent. Great for lunch or dinner.
Great food and atmo in ocean park......worth a try!!!!!!!
Overpriced! Not worth the money for the simple food.
I'm very happy to have discovered this restaurant. A nice setting and really good food. We had several shared plates and all were fantastic -- calamari, Verde pizza, burrata salad, roasted Brussel sprouts, and halibut. We liked it so much we went to their sister restaurant down the street, Thyme Cafe and Market, the next day and had lunch. Best chocolate chip cookies ever and the sandwiches were good too!
Great brunch. The polenta is outrageous. Coffee is great too.
Great food and casual environment. Great for couples and small groups. Nice, quiet patio. One of my Westside favorites.
We loved local kitchen + wine bar! Cute vibes, aesthetic and yummy food & drinks. We will be coming back soon!
luv this place darling
pizzas so good
chicken under stone delicious but a bit vinegary for my taste
The location is good, and the setting/décor is lovely. Our waitress was attentive and kind. The noise level was tolerable once the crowd grew large. The food was very unspectacular. I had hoped for something more exciting than a scrambled egg with bacon on a large ciabatta for $16. I could have gone to McDonalds if I wanted an egg McMuffin. Dessert was a little better. The olive oil cake with roasted stone fruit was delicious.
Great neighborhood spot. Very good food. Loved the calamari and the lamb meatballs.
We came to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. Food and drinks were great! We came a little early for Happy Hour and stayed thru our reservation. The restaurant was very accommodating and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! Our only wish was for the patio to have a fan. Otherwise, it was a great time!
Friendly, professional service; great food; good wine selections; lovely "neighborhood" friendly atmosphere. Would recommend as a great repeat often place to meet friends/loved ones to unwind in a uplifting atmosphere that is not pretentious.
Cute new spot, really liked the interior (a little cramped but, cute), food was very good, service was very good, will go back again.
