Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine using local ingredients.
We have two versions of the classic paella, one has chourico and chicken and the other is all seafood. Menu is printed nightly with frequent changes in steak, soup, tortilla, gnocchi and risotto, as well as appetizer and fish specials.
Our menu offers a full range from tapas (small plates), raciones (medium plates) to entrees (large plates), creating a set of choices for any size appetite.
Weekend brunch is served from 9am till 2pm, Saturday and Sunday.
Our wine list is extensive featuring over 100 bottles with specialization in Spain, France and Italy.
Our beer list features local micros, seasonal, imports and domestics with selections from Bunker, Allagash, Dogfish head, Oxbow, Unibroue, Brooklyn and Smuttynose to name but a few.
Not to be overlooked is the ever changing array of house designed and made cocktails, many of which feature intriguing and delicious infusions.

Indoor ambiance is dreary and wait staff isn’t really interested In Taking care of your needs. Had to ask a couple of times about an allergy then she came around and offered to speak to the kitchen instead of saying, no we can’t. Bloody Mary mix was nasty and my food was cold upon delivery to table so.....there ya go.

Local 188 is an amazing establishment. Chef Klaus and his crew designed courses that were extremely well prepared, creative, and absolutely delicious. The service was second to none; our waitress was very attentive and pleasant, and made sure we had everything we needed for the best experience possible.

Dined outdoor. We were on the far end of the tables and got little attention from our server. Wasn’t terrible but could have been better. Food was excellent as usual.

We stuck with the shared plates which were all very good. The montaditos were our favorite. The bread, deviled eggs, and shrimp were also very good. The cheese and charcuterie was presented well and, while good, was a little sparse for $18. A little more cheese would have been better. We spaced out the ordering so we didn’t end up with everything at the same time. The staff seemed to work well together, and helped each other out when things started getting busy. We had a few different servers but they communicated and seemed to know what we had ordered and when it would be up. It was a pretty relaxing, good time. I’d go back!

Food and service were great!! Excellent Covid precautions in place. However, our table was right under a speaker and the music they played over the 90 minutes we were there was terrible. Country western, pop, NONE OF IT of a Spanish nature or at all “suttle”. Really made no sense. Light quiet music with little or no vocals would be much more appropriate even if it isn’t Spanish in origin. Awesome experience other than that.

honestly i liked this place! only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was because we were seated 30 minutes late even though we arrived on time for our reservation
paella was really nice, wish it had crispy rice on the bottom though.. drinks were just ok

I have never had a worse experience than I did on Sunday, March 15th. Five of us arrived at the restaurant after having reservations. One of us was concerned about Covid so we got a table outside. It was raining and upper 30s but since there were outdoor patio heaters, we figured no problem.

After waiting 10 minutes after being seated and asking to have the heater lit, i went inside to ask if they could light the heaters. I immediately received attitude from Jeremiah, the restaurant manager. I was definitely not rude but I did insist that they light it because it only takes a couple of seconds to do so. He came outside and lit the heater. After five minutes, the heater went out due to no propane. We inquired again to get the heater lit, and the hostess told us that they were out of propane. We weren’t happy but nothing we could do about it. A couple of minutes later Jeremiah came out and brought a new propane tank and we were pretty happy about that.

As he was installing the tank, he made a comment to me about being super busy and that he didn’t need the attitude from us. I couldn’t believe what I just heard and I am mediately shot back stating that I have been waiting outside for 10 minutes with nobody helping us. He told me that we weren’t waiting for 10 minutes and continued to give me major attitude. I was getting pretty upset by this time and asked him if this is how he talked to his customers. He told me that not only does he have the right to do so but has permission from the restaurant owner. I was furious by this time and said something with an expletive and he said I’m not going serve you. He was being a total dick about the situation and it was something that definitely did not need to escalate the way it did. I will never ever go back to that restaurant and I’m hoping that I get some sort of response here on yelp with an apology and explanation. i’m also going to reach out to the restaurant owner, and let him know how Jeremiah treats customers!

We were a party of four and all did the Maine Restaurant Week tasting menu. All four courses were great. The wine pairings were also quite good.

The food was fine, really plain. We had brunch and even for breakfast foods I was like ehhhh, I got the home fries and there’s were like 10 pieces of potato. Even local potatoes are like $1 a pound. I have heard their servers are really good so I think we just struck out. She never asked if we wanted more water or coffee until she took our cards to pay. I’ve heard such great things, and was a wee bummed. We were sat in the sun, so for a nice winter Sunday that was great!

Wait staff were not engaged at all during dinner. We ordered a charcuterie plate that only had one cheese and one meat and they just dropped it down and left without any explanation as to what was being served.

The drinks, shrimp skewers, and seafood paella were great. The chocolate flourless torte (or variation thereof) was out of this world — moist and flavorful, so much better than many tortes that can be dry and less flavorful. The menu was limited because of Covid, and we missed the chicken that was in the on-line menu of the morning, and being able to have a full-blown paella with chicken and sausage would also have been good. The service was outstanding — attentive, pleasant, personable — added to the experience. She was a young woman from Oxford Hills who is attending USM. The best.

Food was excellent as usual. Very noisy, seated next to a large party that tricked in. Our server was their server. Because that party trickled in our server was kind of distracted. I would recommend they implement a “your party will not be seated until all members have arrived” policy. Would I go again? Definitely. Would I go on a Saturday again? Probably not.

Havent eaten here since September and it's definitely gone downhill. It took about 15min to get any service, the menu is very limited now, no tapas, no olives, the deviled eggs were three tiny halves. They always had the best mojito but told me they didn't have mint, even though there was some on top of my dessert later. Charcuterie had one type of cheese, brie, and rock hard crackers. I don't know, always loved this place but in no rush to return.

Loved the ambiance and the overall open kitchen concept. Unfortunately the food and drinks were subpar to me. The menu sounded so delicious but we had the mussels that usually would have a flavorful broth and it tasted very bland. Then for entrees we had the chicken confit and the whole wheat bolognese. Chicken was very over salted but only on the outside and the chicken itself had no taste. The bolognese just was like regular pasta and sauce. So disappointed since everything sounded so delicious on the menu.

The best spot for low key hangs, great food and service, and the best bloodies anywhere. Also, I never thought much about English muffins until I had one there. The breads are fantastic.

We’ve gone almost once a week while the weather is still patio compliant and get a bottle of red and split the seafood paella. It’s exceptional every time and the waitstaff is always friendly and helpful. The patio is very clean and spatially distant and they even bring out big heaters when it starts to get dark out which I guess means my patio paella adventures have been extended at least another couple of weeks.

They should have indoor/outdoor reservation option, not expect customers to know to place a note. We had to beg for heaters to be brought outside. Hostess was just annoyed with everyone that walked in. Food was good, but 2 dishes were on the bland side.

Great good, great atmosphere! We had the mussels to start, then the seafood paella, and finished the night with delicious carrot cake! The atmosphere inside was a much better vibe than outside, quieter and much more intimate
