Great service. Limited winter menu but still plenty of tempting items to choose from.
Love local 188! Prices have unfortunately gone up due to inflation, but excellent cocktails and food
Loved the corner booth….thank you!
Sean and teammates were extremely attentive and very present and timely, always courteous, even when I called him Sam. Thank you for a wonderful night!

Great food, payaya incredible, drinks vibe and service
We ate at Local 188 last night and it was great. On a cold night, the inside felt warm and inviting, the drinks were very good and the food was excellent. We had the swordfish and stuffed quail entrees and shared a piece of chocolate torte and all were delicious. We’ve been to Local 188 a handful of times in the past ten years and this was by far our best experience. I’m already looking forward to going back!
The food was phenomenal and the service was quick and excellent. Great spot for a relaxed but upbeat night.
Food was fantastic ! My husband enjoyed the hake with kale and butternut squash that he raved about. I enjoyed the veggie chili with shrimp. All fresh and flavorful. Spicy margarita was exceptional. Server was perfect!
Great service and great food. We love the drinks and the food.
Local 188 is our holiday favorite. Looking out onto the lights in Longfellow Square, watching passers-by, sipping a cocktail, and enjoying a delicious dinner. Never feeling rushed. Excellent service.
Great meal wonderful server in nice cozy environment.
We really enjoyed our evening here. Food was very good, beverages too. Very nice ambience and attentive service. The place was not crowded, they had plenty of space between tables, and it was quiet enough for conversation. Good place to visit and catch up with friends.
Our server was outstanding! She was perfectly attentive, pleasant and accommodating! Food was spectacular and look forward to coming back. Dedicated parking in rear of building is a plus in the city!
Great addition to the culinary scene - a Spanish restaurant with lots of space and accommodating staff. Food was great, and a plenty of options menu. There is an understated ambience and energy that adds to the overall good time for friends to share dishes and stories.
Wow. Definitely don’t sleep on local 188. It was incredible-food, ambience, kind staff, timing, etc… I am so happy that my friend suggested this place and I look forward to going back here with my family.
Charged 6.00 for bread. Mussel broth was very bland. Paella rice was good but not very much seafood. Steak was alright but to much salt. Very overpriced for what is was, will not return
Great Risotto, great mixed drink made to specification, great Spanish wine selection, and our bar server Jacqueline was warm and professional. Nice evening.
I've been here several times and always had a great meal and a good atmosphere. This this time however the music was ACDC, the server was annoyed for no good reason and the food was only mediocre. But every restaurant gets an off day every once in a while.
Not good food
Excellent service! The scallops were absolutely delicious. Cocktail was yummy too. We will definitely be back!
Wonderful service, meal and drinks. The "smoke show" was a really nice cocktail.
We are paella fans, and really enjoyed the paella. Plus the apps, including Shishito peppers and deviled eggs.
Very fun atmosphere and decor, casual, great food, Really nice manager and waitstaff, wine pairing was spot-on.
This is fast becoming my favorite place to eat in Portland.
Excellent food eclectic vibe
Excellent food and very good service, except when it came to paying the bill.
As usual - great vibe - great service - amazing food and lovely outdoor experience.
The servers are great. Professional and helpful. Our plates were all delicious, if a touch small.
Will be going back soon!!
Superb all around!
Lovely wait staff!
Would definitely return.
Good meal! We had gotten a recommendation from friends and they were right. The paella was excellent. Good service as well.
Bartender Jac created the best drink for us, on the fly! And the food was terrific. Chilly & damp outside but the heaters fixed that right up.
My wife and I hadn’t been there in a while but it was always one of our favorite places for date night. This trip the food just didn’t wow us the way it usually does and when you spend $145 with gratuity for two people it should wow. The ambiance and staff were great as usual. I’m sure we’ll go back but we’ll think twice before making it our go to for date night.
Mussels and bread were amazing! Delicious dinner. Lovely waitstaff. Outdoor seating worked out beautifully as we had our dog with us. Staff responded quickly to our request to roll open the awning when a few raindrops passed through.
Location is super neat and staff is friendly! However the food was disappointing. Bread was great but the butter served with it was terrible and then the paella was very disappointing - the shrimp were over cooked, fish was flavorless, and the mussels were burnt and crispy. Also, paella should have a crispy rice bottom, ours did not at all. The flavor of the paella was ok but it was lacking in flavor.
Excellent local tapas
the food was great (especially the shrimp pinchos!) and the staff was super accommodating with our dog who was able to sit with us outside!
Great service; food. Dealt w a few homeless street people as we ate outside sidewalk side. But that’s somewhat expected in urban area. Overall very good. We love this resturant.
Good food and good service. We sat outside which was very safe but without much ambiance - and a lot of traffic noise. But the restaurant did a nice job and we will definitely return!
This is our fourth visit to Portland. Each and every time we come back to Local 188. It never disappoints.
Our server Kendall was fantastic. Thank you for the only stress free dining out experience we have had in months! Thank you for showing up!
Everything was EXCELLENT! We are visiting from Chicago which is well known for its restaurants, so we were curious as to what a smaller city like Portland has to offer. Local 188 definitely exceeded our expectations. We had the house salad, clams, potato gnocchi, and shrimp pinchos. Between the flavorful meal and the romantic ambience of the restaurant, this will certainly be our first recommendation for friends who visit Portland. Thank you!
Delicious food, great service, cool vibe.
We spend the summers in Portland and love Local 188. The service is great, the staff is super friendly and helpful and the food is wonderful. Also the parking is easy compared to the Old Port.
