We went for their weekend brunch for my mother’s birthday. The food was pretty decent but our server would never come to our table to refill drinks, check on things, or ask if we needed anything else. Anytime we needed assistance we had to try and get her attention when she was coming to a different table and half the time that did not workout either.

For the amount of money we spent, the food quality was poor, the service was none existent, we almost felt unwelcome. Only notable thing was the nice views of commencement bay. Wish we had turn back at the door, enjoyed the view outside and ate somewhere else.

Twilight menu and restaurant at week menu were both very good values. The halibut was very tasty but the portion was way too small for the price.

Returned for Birthday celebration. Same great service. Same excellent menu choices and well prepared food. Pistachio Ice Cream topped off our three course lunch. We recommend the Beet Salad and the Lobster Bisque. We had a wonderful view from our window table. Attentive but respectful service. Highly recommended.

I have loved this restaurant and the original Lobster Shop since I first moved to Tacoma in 1973. some of the best seafood in town. Wonderful in the fall and winter, even better in the summer.

The Lobster Shop remains one of my favorite spots on the Ruston Way Waterfront because of the beautiful setting, delicious food, and excellent service. My mother and I were there for Tacoma Restaurant Week 2018 and ordered from the Fixed Price Lunch Menu. Food was cooked to perfection and included local favorites like prawns, salmon, lobster, mussels, chocolate cupcake and Salted Caramel Ice cream. My lunch was a seafood stew topped with rice and herbs. The Thai flavors in the sauce blended welland complimented the fish . My favorite appetizer is the Lobster Bisque but the Beet Salad was also tasty. Our attentive server arranged for my mother to have a "sugar free" dessert of a large strawberry rose and orange wedges. He subbed for the Chocolate Cupcake and by the time I finished my three course meal, I could barely walk out of the restaurant. The view of Tacoma's waterway is beautiful. The staff does a great job of making customers feel like guests. A special treat. I highly recommend it and I plan to return for Happy Hour!

Our family loves the Lobster Shop. We go for special occasions. Our server this last visit was exceptional! We were seated next to a very large group of 15 who were specific on how they wanted the seating. Our server handled the situation fluidly. I don’t remember her name but our receipt says Team T, but we Sunday 04/15 at 11:30am and we’re seated immediately to the right of the hostess station. She was a gem! And she still managed to be very attentive to our table.
I would like compliment the lovely gal manning the carving station. She was the friendliest we’ve ever had!
I cannot give enough praise for these 2 ladies!
The food was excellent as always.
The only reason my review isn’t 5 stars is the hostess station. This visit and our previous 2 visits our only negative experience happens at the hostess station. High traffic or not, we are never greeted upon arrival. We are not even greeted if we stand close by. And when we are finally greeted, it is not a very friendly greeting. I have to walk up directly in front of the station. All 3 hostesses seem focused on whoever they are helping. I am not sure why, but that is what happens. This is a more upscale brunch outing—I do not feel that I should be giving the first smile and greeting. There is always more than one of you—a simple “Good morning! We will be right with you”. A smile and eye contact would be nice as well. Also, on several occasions we will stand by the station and hear conversations that aren’t appropriate for customers to hear. We are directly in front of them, I feel that on a professional level these types of conversations should be immediately tabled until the coast is clear again. No one wants to hear the drama you’re having a fellow server.

Service was good and friendly but not very knowledgeable about their list of beverages or ingredients in meals. The décor was nice and was upgraded since our last visit. Views were beautiful on the sound even though rainy and cold. In nice weather the outdoor deck would be fun to go and have cocktails. Food was good but not outstanding. I had the Lobster tail it was a bit over cooked and my husband had the steak and lobster tail... and for the price it should be outstanding. Not exciting but not disappointing. We were there for our anniversary and spent $200 for 2 of us and were not offered any free desert ect.. which you pretty get even at Red Robin. Was disappointed over that.

It was nothing short of ammazing! Before we ended our evening, we made reservations for Sunday brunch. We can’t wait to come back. Love, love, LOVE!!

Great food, great views of Commencement Bay, and good service. Dinner with a friend on a Monday night during restaurant week allowed us to try new seasonal dishes. I had the seafood curry and it was filled with mussels, clams, salmon and prawns all in a flavorful curry sauce. A bowl of lobster bisque and a chocolate cupcake for dessert sent me home full and happy. I would recommend the Lobster Shop for a casual Monday dinner or for a special occasion. My family and friends make this a regular stop in our restaurant rotation.

This was a celebration dinner with my daughter and son-in-law. They both served our country in the US Marine Corp and just got out to pursue new careers. They are also expecting their first child, so we celebrated. The bread and dip was very good. We ordered chicken, steak and prawns. The salads were crisp and delicious. The chicken was very juicy and the gravy divine. The steak was medium well and melted in my mouth. The prawns were cooked to perfection. For dessert we had crème brule, gluten free chocolate cake and our waiter brought a celebration sundae. Everything was absolutely wonderful!

I've always appreciated Lobster Shop - Ruston Way for its stunning views, ambiance and service. It's one of the few restaurants with a controlled noise level that allows for intimate conversation. However, I avoided them for a couple of years because their menu seemed tired and limited. How delightful my recent visit was! I found new creativity and variety in their menu options, and a renewed emphasis on quality. The food was delicious, well-presented, and prepared to order. I'll be back for future lunches with dear friends and business associates.

The food was fantastic for brunch and every time I go the service is excellent. There is one gal that works the front desk that shouldn't be at the front desk, she's phony and grumpy, not the spot for her.

The service was excellent, the atmosphere and view were great but the food was not as good as I expected. I had the New York steak and my wife had the 12 oz. Maine Lobster. My steak was done to order (rare) but was not very tender and needed to be seasoned. My wife's lobster also lacked flavor even when dipped in their butter sauce. Conversely, the potatoes and vegetables were very flavorful. We had an appetizer called Lobster Dip that was also excellent.

Fantastic service from Tina and the food was delicious. We’d gone to the Green Turtle in Gig Harbor the weekend before in hopes of having a great seafood dinner. Everything Green Turtle lacked (service, food quality and flavor) the Lobster Shop had in abundance. We’ll be happy to come back in the future.

Loved the variety of foods offered at Brunch and the service was outstanding. The only issue we had was the eggs benedict. The eggs were over poached, and more hard boiled, which was a bit disappointing.
