Lobster Shop South
The Lobster Shop restaurants have been operating since 1977, offering some of the Pacific Northwest’s favorite seafood dishes.
The restaurant sits over the waters of Commencement Bay, offering breathtaking views of both Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountain Range.
During the summer months the restaurant offers outdoor dining and with a dock available for boaters, makes for an excellent day getaway.
Lobster Shop has always been the place where the South Sound loves to celebrate; whether a birthday, anniversary or promotion you just can't beat the atmosphere.
Annually rated by the well known Zagat Survey, Lobster Shop takes a great deal of pride in making sure that every experience is a memorable one. We look forward to serving you soon.
The ambience is very nice, with a view of the water. The food was very good, and the service outstanding from our server, Saydra. I would definitely recommend this place for a special night out.
Best meal I have had in a long time... being gluten free means a limited menu and thankfully what I had my eye one was gf... our app adjusted to accommodate me being gf too... awesome! We will be back. Next time on the patio!
The view is stunning but the food was average. There were three of us. I had the chicken marsala which was barely warm and tasty but nothing special. One friend had a shrimp louie which was as expected and the other friend had a pasta primavera pomodoro with salmon which was deconstructed and visually unappealing. I would recommend happy hour on the deck, where the food is a selection of their more consistent items at reasonable prices.
Went here for our anniversary. We've always gone to the old one that used to be in Brown's Point, but it since has closed. LS South was fantastic, sat on their deck, great view. Food came quick (Saturday night) and was delicious ! Our server Justus was the best.
This is my favorite restaurant. Great food and great service. Our server was great too.
Unfortunately tonight’s experience started with a very unwelcome attitude from the young tall blond host that checked us in at 5:30. Wish my beer was that cold. She did not say one word.
Great night with awesome food and service. Ordered the shrimp/salmon/lobster combination plate and the halibut plate. Both were incredible meals prepared perfectly.
Food hot, well presented, flavorfull. Room noisy, need some sound absorbing curtains, etc. Can't carry on a decent conversation with family or friends, edith
Enjoy the Early Bird Diner selections, spectacular view, save room for dessert. Do have a great time and may your server be as awesome as ours was.
Honor was a very helpful, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable server. The food was outstanding, and so was the view. I would definitely go back, and definitely recommend this place to friends.
Gorgeous outside view.
Food was good overall, but Server would not accept my reward card because I didn’t have it printed out.
The Lobster Shop has been our go to place to take family from out of town and special occasions. I thought I would NEVER have to write a review like this for our favorite restaurant. Let me start out with saying the service was excellent and I asked for a window seat because our guests were from AZ. we were seated at the window with an excellent view of the bay & Mt. Rainer. This aspect was all excellent. The menu seemed to lack any type of WOW factor, seemed limited to what we are use to. The food was O.K. but O.K. isn't good enough for the price and setting up our guest as the best seafood around. Maybe we have been spoiled by the Sunday Brunch. We were disappointed, I hope this was just an off night.
The Lobster shop Twilight meal is a delight for those who like eating early and have a more modest appetite. That said, the 3 course meal starts with a delicious salad or clam chowder/lobster bisque (both were outstanding) and an entree. Great place.
I cannot find one thing to complain about. Absolutely everything we ordered was delicious, and that rarely happens. The peaceful waterfront view was also a plus.
Amazing food and service! So far we’ve been here twice and haven’t had a drink or dish that we didn’t thoroughly enjoy. And I mean, amazing food. Lots of options. Not just a seafood. And unique but delicious.
This was an overall outstanding experience. The atmosphere and view of the water was fantastic. Our waiter was incredibly helpful, attentive, and personable. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great advice based on our feedback around what we wanted to eat. The food was absolutely amazing. I've had plenty of seafood at high end restaurants and the quality was right up there with them with a fraction of the price.
Overall, this was an awesome place that I highly recommend to any seafood lovers.
Crimini mushroom chicken is DIVINE
This was a great experience! We sat inside but had a view of the beautiful deck and expense of water. The server was warm, friendly and perfectly attentive and the food was amazing! I would highly recommend this restaurant! I can't wait to return.
Service was amazing, food was perfect and atmosphere was beautiful as we sat outside on the waterfront
It was fantastic dinner!
This is our “go to” place for special occasions. We were seated promptly and the view was very nice. My wife had them seafood trio and the shrimp, salmon and lobster were excellent. I had the lobster carbonara and it is very rich and very good. We had fresh peach crumble for dessert and it was also good. The waitress even stuffed olives to go with our martini. A great evening and excellent way to celebrate our day.
The service was exceptional. Morgan was our server. She was attentive and very knowledgeable about menu. We will definitely go back and ask to be seated in her section.
Freezing cold inside; had the warm seafood salad which was OK but had a strong GI effect by the time I got home. Not all that much seafood in it. Guest had the crab salad and ate none of the greens so I wondered if it was OK. Other guest had the fish sandwich with fries which she said were soggy. I was embarrassed to have recommended the restaurant since they drove down from Seattle to lunch with me.
Food was fantastic and service was great. The complimentary dessert to honor our anniversary was a nice touch. Thanks
Company needed assistance to the buffet but none was offered. Buffet food was messy, tongs were short and non pliable as if to limit amount of food that can be picked up. The food plates were messy and finished by the time we got there. The prime rib and ham station is was unattended. Unlikely I will go there again
Excellent service and great food and selection. Staff kept all buffet items filled and refilled. They even put out a ramp for my wife who was in an electric scooter.
My husband I had salads steak and lobster plus a dessert each along with a glass of wine for about $120. The view from the patio was amazing everything was cooked perfect and the wait staff was amazing. I think my husband is part camel and his water was never empty even though it was very busy.
We were late for our reservation and it was busy but we still got a table with no problem. Food and service were excellent. We had a great time with our friends and it was all our first time visiting The Lobster Shop. Will definitely return when we get another chance for some fine dining.
Mid-90’s worn and outdated appearance. Beautiful view. Food was ok overall but shrimp meal was over cooked and tasted like chemicals. Inedible. Server offered to comp with desert but taste from meal made me lose my appetite so the kindly removed it from my bill. Salad and bread were good. Others in my party didn’t feel it was worth the drive.
The food was ok. The service couldnt be better. Will be back soon to give the food another shot.
The evening was pure enjoyment. The food was everything it was billed to be. Aside from my steak needing to be slightly more cooked, everything was exceptional and our server was more than a joy to have serve us. She was friendly and timely.
Great food, great service. Was pleasantly surprised by the affordability on the twilight menu.
Food and atmosphere was great. Server was nice however seemed slightly impatient. May have just had a stressful day. Will definitely go back sat on the patio!
Delicious food, the Alaskan lobster was amazing! The drinks were tasty too, and the hostess was accommodating. The waiter wasn’t around very much and forgot to give water until mid-meal!
Our meal and service was Tops
WISH IT WERE IN SEATTLE👏👏👍
Good for a special celebration. Not sure with price I would dine more often than that.
Nice atmosphere, great service, expansive ocean views,
Food needs to be replenish more often. Crab legs platter was almost empty every time I went to get more food. Biscuits were pretty hard for biscuits and gravy. Great selection though. I would come for brunch again. You can’t beat the outside patio view, that’s for sure! Especially on a beautiful day like last Sunday!
The Lobster Shop's Sunday brunch has something for everyone. My seafood-loving husband and friends enjoy the fresh lobster, crab, mussels, clams, and salmon, while I enjoy the prime rib and ham. The omelet bar has a wide selection of ingredients. And, there's a glorious display of desserts. You can have croissants, small lemon poppy seed or blueberry muffins, and biscuits and gravy to go with your meal. And, you can choose from a selection of cheeses, salads, fruit and traditional breakfast dishes (e.g. bacon, sausages, waffles, etc.). Everything is nicely prepared.
Very nice restaurant with beautiful views! We made reservations in advance and called to let them know we were running late due to Tacoma I5 traffic. The hostess seemed lost when I checked in. She said she found my reservation although I did not see my name being pulled up on the screen. We waited and watched other parties being seated before us who did not have reservations. My husband checked again (since he went ahead and put in his name) Another hostess found us and verified that we had not been checked in, apologized and got us seated. Our server was nice but haphazardly cleared dishes and tried to give us the bill before we were finished eating. We were there a total of 1 hour so it wasn't like we were hanging out all day eating buffet food. We also had to ask for the hot napkins to wash our hands after eating crab legs and received the hand towels AFTER we paid our bill. We only knew about them because the table across from us with the attentive waitress offered her guest this service- after their first plate of food. Our bill for 4 was $188. We were there an acceptable amount of time for an all-u-can-eat buffet of only 1 hour. The least the server could have done was clear plates of crab shells while we were eating dessert and wait for us to finish before trying to shove a bill at us.
