Lobster Shop South Ratings and Reviews
Lobster Shop has become our "go to" place for special occasions. It's got a great view of the water and a warm ambiance. On this occasion my wife and I wanted to experience a romantic Sunday Brunch just prior to Valentine's Day. We were seated at a cozy booth by the window and our waitress told us to expect more chocolate deserts because of Valentine's Day--she wasn't kidding. My wife especially loved the sea food and I loved the variety of choices. We also like to come here for lunch. (They have a bread and pesto dip appetizer that is to die for.) Valentine's Day: mission accomplished!
Food was quite tasteless, flat, bland, and requires considerably more seasoning. The cocktails tasted synthetic, unpleasant. We were quite disappointed and felt the cost for the meal and drinks was excessive given the lackluster taste of the food and beverages. We are not likely to come for another meal here.
This was our first time dining @ The Lobster Shop; we went for our Date Night. On my reservation, I had requested a window seat, but we didn't get seated at one. It actually wasn't needed, the restaurant has beautiful views anywhere you sit. Excellent waiter - we tried the steak, lobster & salmon, food was average. Ambiance was perfect.
This was our Valentine’s Day dinner. We got a really small booth by the bar. The people above us were drunk and loud. So not very romantic. My husbands lobster was not cooked all the way and was stringy and mostly not edible. The waiter hardly ever came back to check on us to send it back. The creme brûlée was yummy though. Not the best special occasion date. Very disappointed.
Quiet! Rare today to be in a restaurant where you can hear each other. Lovely service. No “awesome, good choice, are you still working on that?” Just excellent wait people.
Excellent seafood, beautifully presented. The warm seafood salad was a special treat. And the salmon tacos! Thank you!
The seafood was very good and our server (Honor - that's really her name) was excellent. Go early and take advantage of the Twilight menu. You'll get more than enough to eat and save yourself some money over the regular menu.
A couple of slight knocks:
Their background music selection was awful. Fortunately, it was at a tolerable sound level so it could be kind of ignored. But, it's a nice restaurant. They could do much better.
Also, the person checking people in was a bit snooty and not for any apparent reason. I suspect she's been there a while but a little customer service training might be useful.
We were surprised by the Sunday Brunch when we arrived. It had the normal breakfast fare, eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt, etc. but then we saw the all you can eat clams, mussels, crab, shrimp and prime rib. All the food was delicious. Our server was very nice, but had bad timing picking up dirty plates, refilling drinks, etc. I think she was covering too many tables.
I haven’t been here in nearly a yr. I’ve been away. But I loved coming for brunch. Big sweet crab legs and wonderful choices. I have to say I was disappointed this past Sunday. The crab legs were not As i remembered. They were small and extremely salty. They did not taste fresh. The lobster tasted like a salty brown butter sauce. Fortunately there were other things on the brunch bar but it felt like a buffet I could have gotten anywhere. Not worth the bill.
Overall great experience. Just a quick suggestion, for reservations with a request mentioned in the reservation -- if the request could be communicated to the wait-staff that ends up assigned to the table so it can be taken care of if possible, that would be above and beyond
Thank you for the great experience as always!
Was very nice overall. I had the planked salmon only came with rice and a few pieces of asparagus and was pretty spendy for what was on my plate. It was good don't get me wrong but if it wasn't for the bread I would not have had enough. For the price it would have been nice to have a salad that didn't cost extra. I would go again.
