Lobster Shop South
The Lobster Shop restaurants have been operating since 1977, offering some of the Pacific Northwest’s favorite seafood dishes.
The restaurant sits over the waters of Commencement Bay, offering breathtaking views of both Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountain Range.
During the summer months the restaurant offers outdoor dining and with a dock available for boaters, makes for an excellent day getaway.
Lobster Shop has always been the place where the South Sound loves to celebrate; whether a birthday, anniversary or promotion you just can't beat the atmosphere.
Annually rated by the well known Zagat Survey, Lobster Shop takes a great deal of pride in making sure that every experience is a memorable one. We look forward to serving you soon.
A wonderful experience! We had never eaten there before, and loved the menu, the service, and ambience. Be sure to try the twilight dinner. 3 courses for the price of a regular entree!
Very oily warm salad, skipped eating the greens.
Small prawns with the fish fry, dry mashed potatoes.
Slow service, long wait for food. It's just the view that's great.
The food choices are now more limited than what they used to be. Took lots of time to refill dishes. Used to loved their brunch but the quality of food has gone down
My favorite place to go for brunch - THE BEST!! Love the view, the outstanding food and the service.
Although appetizers, salads, and drinks were good, the main entrees were just adequate. Being so close to fresh seafood should be the restaurant's specialty. The cedar plank king salmon was not done well. The cedar plank seasoning reminded one of adding a fake "liquid smoke" flavoring to the fish.
We love the twilight dinners. For two seniors it is just perfect. It is affordable and wonderful. This allows us to go several times a month.
Our favorite restaurant was Anthony's but unfortunately it is not as good a value and quality as The lobster shop.
Food is wonderful and the service is the best around.
Please don't change a thing. As a Vietnam Vet it is one of the highlight of my live.
Thank you for having the twilight dinners
Going to show with friends. Service was good and the food was good. I was disappointed in the portion size. I ordered the cedar plank salmon and it was about 3 to 4 ounces.
I wasn’t very thrilled with our dinner experience. This was our 29th wedding anniversary. We asked for a booth and I stated that it was our anniversary. When we got there we were told it would be a longer wait for a booth. So we waited. We were then taken to a tiny table back in the corner. We were too hungry at that point to argue. We mentioned several times that it was our anniversary and finally someone brought us a little ice cream cup. Not very special. On top of that we specifically came for the creme bruile. ( I’m sure I spelled that wrong) they said they ran out. It was only 6:00 pm. Plus my husband ordered Lobster and it was tiny. Definitely not what it was supposed to be. Usually dinner here is good but this time not so much. Not the place for a romantic dinner celebration. Very sad.
The Lobster Shop has always been a special treat for our family to enjoy a wonderful meal, excellent service and beautiful views.
We went here to celebrate our anniversary. Our waiter/bartender Brian was very friendly and attentive. He recommended things on the menu such as the lobster carbonara and crab cakes which we did try and they were amazing! The view of the Tacoma waterfront from inside of the restaurant was beautiful. Overall, this was definitely a great spot to celebrate!
Restaurant Week has gone downhill. Two courses for $15 instead of three courses. The Asian pear salad had teeny strips and not many of the pear and was a tiny salad compared to previous years. There was a three dollar up charge for the lobster Mac and cheese and no lobster to speak of in the dish. Very disappointing after previous experiences for their restaurant week
Service was exceptional, as was the food. It was a beautiful evening!
You can always count on Lobster Shop for great food
Third time I've been to LSS. I brought a friend from out of town and she loved it! Staff was incredible, view was incredible, I'll be back!
A bit on the pricey side, but well worth it!
We just dined here about a week or so ago and it was great, however, this time was much different. Our server was HORRIBLE, she ignored us most of the evening, we ended up being there for about 30 mins longer than a table of 3 that sat down and ordered AFTER us. She made us box our own food, (The last server offered to box it for us so we assumed this was the standard), all around bad experience. This night, also, was my husbands birthday dinner, and not even a mention of it or offer for song, dessert, anything. Very disappointed. We will not be back.
The staff at the Lobster Shop, particularly our server Tina, were outstanding. They assisted me with a creative marriage proposal which I had pre arranged with the manager earlier in the day. They performed the plan perfectly and as f it was their own special event. I was completely impressed with their professionalism and attention to my special day. In addition the food was amazing and the overall service was outstanding. This was not my first visit to the Lobster Shop and the amazing experience s not unique.
Truly enjoyed Tacoma restaurant week!
We had to only a great meal, but a great experience. Had a table by the window so could enjoy the view of the Sound. Seated immediately. Our Server was exceptional. She had worked there for 18 years. We started the meal with a couple of glasses of wine and the Calamari appetizer. Excellent. Our main course was the Halibut Oscar. It was to die for. Finished the evening with a piece of Cheesecake and coffee. We will highly recommend the Lobster Shop
My husband and I have been to the lobster shop to celebrate our annisversary for many years. We enjoy the atmosphere, but mostly the view. The food is quite good.
Wonderful dinner. Server was exceptional and very attentive. Dinner was delicious. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and couldn’t have been a more beautiful waterfront location.
The best Aglio Prawns I have ever had! Five large prawns served over mashed potatoes with a lovely garlic butter sauce....and a small citrus dressed salad. Outstanding!!
It was a Saturday lunch get together. The Lobster Shop was not very crowded and the noise level was quite acceptable. The food was outstanding as was the service. We were not rushed at all. The desserts were wonderful!
Very nice evening for my 50th b-day with great service
Beautiful setting, view & meal. Comfortable surroundings & service.
Amazing place! The food is outstanding & the views are gorgeous! Went to celebrate our friends getting married!
So good, defiantly will be back. Great view and good service. The food quality was excellent.
We dined here for the Sunday brunch buffet. The buffet options were a little more limited than some of the other brunch buffets we have been to but I feel like that made the items they offered even better. Care was clearly taken in the preparation and presentation of the entrees. So if you’re looking for more quality over quantity I highly recommend coming here. The prime rib was literally the best I’ve ever had from ANY brunch buffet I’ve been to including other states I’ve lived. The Dungeness crab is chilled but cooked perfectly. Soft sweet and meaty with delicious drawn butter. The clams are flavorful. The baked salmon was cooked to flakey perfection! Lobster Bisque is amazing and a must try! The grilled vegetables were seasoned and crisp! The creme brule French toast is to die for. And the cheesecake bites were rich and creamy without being overly sweet. The eggs Benedict is good, as well as the more basic breakfast offerings (sausage, bacon, eggs, hash) but the real show stoppers are definitely the carving station, seafood and dessert! We went at 9:30 to celebrate a birthday and were seated with a beautiful view. It was a relaxing brunch with great service. Will be returning soon! The ONLY thing I didn’t care for and wished they offered were drink specials or a bottomless mimosa options like most other places do. At 8-13 a drink we decided not to bother. But everything else was worth it!
this is our new favorite restaurant. We have now been three times in a month and a half.
We love it.
Celebrating Birthday. Glad we made reservation through Open Table. Restaurant Packed! Excellent, excellent food. Amazing flavors. Even though extremely busy, we did not feel left out and held waiting. Service and food moved efficiently throughout the evening. We had the 4:30 to 6:00 menu as we had plans later and the 3-course meal was still too much. The Clam Chowder was fabulous and we will be back even if just for Clam Chowder. Veronica was our server and she was amazing! Very courteous and patient even though she must have been extremely busy. Always made us feel like we were her only customer! Thank you Veronica for making my birthday celebration so special. We chose Lobster Shop as this was our 1st date 6 years ago; have to say this was our absolute best experience and did not think prior experience could be topped. Restaurant continues to exceed expectations! Thank you Again!
Great as usual.
We were able to get a table by the window as requested and enjoyed a phenomenal view. The food was scrumptious and our server excellent. This is by far my favorite place to dine!
We started in the bar with excellent mixed drinks. The server at our table was personable, knowledgable about the menu and had a sense of humor which made our experience more enjoyable. The food was prepared as it should be (lobster and fish) and dessert was delicious. The view of the water tops the experience at the Lobster Shop.
The occasion was a birthday celebration and the Lobster seated our party by the window with a spectacular view of the sound. The food was delicious (salmon melted in your mouth), the wine was excellent and our server, Honor, was informative, attentive, and timely with her waiting on our table. She even brought out an ice cream sundae with a candle for the birthday girl. Excellent venue for any occasion. Our next trip will be the Sunday brunch.
My husband and I went to the Lobster Shop for the Twilight Dinner to celebrate and anniversary . The food was delicious and a very good value. Bethany was our server and she did a great job!
Wonderful experience..waitress was outstanding..food was fresh and great tasting
Outstanding meal but small portions and the soup and sides. Cocktail drinks we were well made and service was prompt and polite. Slightly expensive for what you get but otherwise a great dining experience.
The lobster melt was unbelievably delicious! We would return just for that, but everything else was amazing too. The server took great care of us, including the 3 year old child in our party. We requested and got a table by the water and the view was spectacular. We'll be back!
This is a long time favorite of ours for many years. Everything on the table was marvelous. The free sundae honoring our anniversary was a pleasant surprise as well.
