Lobster Shop South
The Lobster Shop restaurants have been operating since 1977, offering some of the Pacific Northwest’s favorite seafood dishes.
The restaurant sits over the waters of Commencement Bay, offering breathtaking views of both Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountain Range.
During the summer months the restaurant offers outdoor dining and with a dock available for boaters, makes for an excellent day getaway.
Lobster Shop has always been the place where the South Sound loves to celebrate; whether a birthday, anniversary or promotion you just can't beat the atmosphere.
Annually rated by the well known Zagat Survey, Lobster Shop takes a great deal of pride in making sure that every experience is a memorable one. We look forward to serving you soon.
First time at the Lobster Shop. Went for for dinner 3 course meal for 30.00. Everything was declious. Great service.
We dined for lunch on a Monday. Although we had reservations, it was easy to get a table as it was not crowded. Due to our reservation request, we received a window side table. It was a clear day so the view was amazing! Great, friendly, and timely service. It was Restaurant Week (which we were not aware of) and the special menu was diverse and affordable ($15!). However, we were celebrating our anniversary and it was our first time there - so we dined off their regular menu. The food was delicious - this is definitely a good spot if you are a fan of seafood! The staff presented us a small ice cream sundae for our anniversary, which was a sweet touch. We truly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back!
Highly recommend the Ahi Nachos, which were available in the 3-course special restaurant week as an appetizer. Usually only available in the bar. Each time we've visited the food has been consistently excellent.
Lovely brunch anniversary celebration with family
Excellent twilight dining and drink choices great water views
Great food and fantastic service.
Everything was perfect from the food, service and a sunny view to look at from our table. We took a friend from out of state and she loved it! Promised to take her again next time she comes for a visit. The waitress was wonderful making suggestions and very friendly and professional. The lobster mac and cheese was oh so good! My friend had the lobster melt and loved it and my husband had the fish and chips. A lunch to remember!
Spent night in Tacoma while visiting UPS. We wanted a seafood, ideally at a restaurant with a view. Lobster Shop met that criteria and was fabulous! We were also lucky enough to go during restaurant week, which really meant it was harder to choose our dinner. In the end we both settled on the 3 for $30 meal and all was amazing. We did a single crab cake to share - which I highly recommend. Lobster bisque was creamy and flavorful, seafood Thai stew was very good. We took the bread pudding back to our bnb. I highly recommend and it will be on my list of places to return to.
Loved what we got for restaurant week
Great dinner, great choices on the 3 for $30 menu. It was an outstanding value-best I’ve had anywhere. There were 6 of us, we brought 2 bottles (paid corkage) and bought two bottles of wine. Each couple ordered an appetizer, in additions to the 3 courses. Spectacular and perfect night with good friends. Special place -we will be back!! Was already a favorite of one couple from years ago-great to know the food and value along with the great view are still amazing. 😁
Always fantastic food, service and views!
I’m never disappointed when I come here. I leave full & happy. Thank you.
The quality has declined the lobster was burnt and stuck to the shell the salads were over dressed. Disappointed in the whole meal
Always enjoy the Lobster Shop. Food is excellent and their drink specials are great although expensive. Daniel, the server, was pleasant and efficient. My “go to” place for taking out friends.
Our server was fabulous, so attentive and engaging. Food and drinks were delicious
What can I say, this place is outstanding for their food and dishes.
the dry rubbed salmon was off the charts, definitely recommend. I never have had salmon this good.
the Lobster from Maine was delicious and full of flavor.
Thanks for a Great Evening,
Excellent brunch selection. Food was well prepared and plentiful. Waitress was attentive. View was excellent. Don't miss!
The quality of the food and the service provided was second to none. As much as I enjoy a certain brunch on Alki, this is leaps and bounds ahead in quality. My family always enjoys coming to eat here.
Service was terrible. Service never checked on us only would drop a coke off at the table before running off. Food took forever. The place was incredibly noisy
It was an anniversary to remember. Great food, great friendly service, and awesome view.
The dinner was great and the atmosphere was outstanding....of course, the view was great as well.
Great food and great service. View and location is amazing!
The food was incredible!!!
Just moving North from Southern California, this will become one of our favorite restaurants. The food, service and ambience were great. The view perfect.
Our server/bartender was prompt, professional and very helpful with excellent recommendations on the menu.
The evening dinner date was needed after a looooong week. The Lobster Shop never fails. *
All were splendid, from the ambiance to the food !
Keep up with the high quality and excellent attention.
Our server was amazing! i wish I could recall her name but she was on top of everything which is amazing considering brunch is always popping!! I would have given it more stars for overall and ambiance but they have one very bad habit - overcrowding of chairs at the tables. We frequent Lobster Shop about three times a year for their brunch for the past 6 years. Every single time, without exception, they stack us into the tables to the point we are spilling over from the edges. We are NOT large individuals, but they try to cram in five chairs for tables that barely seat four comfortably. I don;t want to have to hold in my elbows by my sides to eat yet we need to each time.
Aside fro that, love the food. It is always warm (not hot though), varied, and well seasoned. The omelette station could do with a refresh of add-ins as they always have the same options. Also, while they do offer crepes pre-made, a fresh crepe station would be great with 4-5 add-in options. I love the meat carving (ham and prime rib) though turkey wold be a great option. Finally, fresh grated horseradish rather then the lightly flavored horseradish cream would be a nice touch.
Everything was absolutely delicious! Wide variety. For being busy, everything was always well stocked.
The food here was phenomenal. Lobster dip, crab cakes and halibut were all cooked to perfection. The view was amazing and the service was exactly what it needed to be...present and attentive when needed but non-obtrusive for the most part. I cannot wait to come back here and have already recommended it to friends.
We arrived 5 minutes early and were taken to our table 5 minutes after our reservation time. First, they took us to a table that had not been cleared so they had us wait to clean up. Our server treated us and took our drink order but we didn’t see him or the drinks for another 15 minutes. Our server was overwhelmed and it seemed as though the entire front of house was unprepared. We come here quite a bit and the food is always good and the service lacking. There were no apologies for the wait though our waiter did high five someone who brought our food out as he could not get to it. I eat out nearly every dinner and grew up in the restaurant business. I know there are many variables but they should have been prepared for a busy Friday night.
Outstanding food. Outstanding service. Atmosphere was beautiful. We will be back.
The salmon was the best I’ve ever eaten - bar none!!! The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive; the mama goose who is nesting outside the window made the whole experience magical.
The lobster carbonara is where it’s at. Every time I try something new, it’s good, but nothing comes close to the carbonara. Otherworldly. Service is always good. Ambiance is great. And wonderful views
Amazing food, service and scenery. We will be back
This is our "go to" restaurant for special occasions. Highly recommend for lunch or Sunday brunch--reservations a must. Don't get caught flatfooted with your sweetie or group.
We love coming here for our anniversary! Great place for date night!
The setting is lovely but the food is absolutely overpriced for the quality and presentation. The food is ok but not $50 a plate fabulous.
The noise level is high, so if you are looking for a quiet, intimate setting, this would not be it.
I also have a garlic allergy and when I spoke to the server about this, she laughed and said "everything has garlic in it". Guess who spent the night very sick afterwards?
Server was also inattentive. Bus staff ended up getting things for us that the server should have.
Always great food and the view is gorgeous
