Livingston Restaurant + Bar Ratings and Reviews
Pre theater meal. We ordered 4 bites: salmon chips, beet salad, mac n cheese, pork belly. All were good except the mac n cheese. This place is always good for a light meal before the show at the Fox. I just wish they would refresh the menu more often with new options.
We went here before our matinee tickets at the Fox. I was taking two ladies who are both 90+ (it was one's birthday celebration). They sat us on the first floor, which was great. They also brought a special happy birthday desert with a candle. We all felt very special and cared for. Diana, the hostess, and Haseem, our waiter, were GREAT!
Livingston is always crowded on Saturday night during theater season at the Fox Theater. Reservations should be made weeks ahead of time for a decent dining time, otherwise you are either rushed to eat, or have to go for an early bird dinner and feel rushed. The food is very good, the service is very good, and there is a fixed price theater menu which is convenient. The drinks are top notch. There is always a buzz on theater nights, and the beauty of Livingston is that it is directly across the street from the Fox, so you can literally crawl across the street if you have to. Livinston always calls the day before to confirm the reservation, just because seating is in high demand.
Went to Livingstons as I often do before the Sat. Matinee at the FOX . I made reservations. When I got there they sat my friend and I at a table for 8 with three people we didn't know at the other end. They removed two chairs and set up glass water pitchers down the center of the table as a divider. The other party had reservations too. We were all a bit surprised at this seating arrangement! Hadn't planned on family dining or I would have gone to the Miller House !
Website showed Saturday brunch menu with items averaging $10-12. Upon arrival, told there's no menu but a buffet on Fox show days - $25 per person! Website did NOT list that info. When questioned waitstaff proceeded to say maybe they need to show that on the website. Ya' think? Another table next to us went through the same thing. Heard waitstaff say "I'm sorry they gave you the wrong information." Feel a victim of bait & switch. Once there, parked & seated, too difficult to leave & go elsewhere in the area when you're going to a show. That may be what they're counting on. Had I known cost prior, would not have gone. On fixed income, doubling amount of a meal is costly. Understand their decision for buffet getting people in and out more quickly for a show but doesn't excuse people not knowing ahead of time what the deal is and the cost. Why wouldn't they put that information on the website? I will NOT go back.
Slow service--ordered trout, but when finally served we were told salmon had been substituted. It was ok, but we would have selected another entree had we been told when we ordered that the trout was not available. Brussels sprouts were undercooked and too tough to eat--steak, scallops and fried chicken entrees were very good. Overall, we were disappointed
I really appreciated everyone from the host (who called me when we were late for our reservation (we had trouble with our car service and although I tried to call the restaurant because of our tardiness they held our reservation for us. Our server was a delight and the food was so delicious. Next time we are down at the Fox we will return.
Service was ok at best. Was really disappointed in my visit this time. Took forever in between courses. Runners would literally run by, drop a plate on the other end of he table from where we were sitting , and then run off. All while never even saying a word. So odd, and not what you would expect when paying $30 a plate for dinner.
Ordered coffee with cream along with the dessert (which took 20 minutes to get to us) and they served it with milk. When I finally got a hold of the waiter again to let him know it took another 10 minutes for him to bring actual cream. Saw him pass by at one point with two cartons of cream. Made me think that they were trying to pass of the skim milk that they originally served me as maybe they didn't want to go get the real cream?
The restaurant did not appear to be full either, so I really don't know why everything was so messed up.
Will not go here again. For that much money, the device should be impeccable. There are plenty of other options in Atlanta.
The atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated makes you feel like you have traveled back in to time. For starter the Salmon on top of a BBQ Chip or the Shrimp and Grit Cakes genius. The Veal Chop with Fava Beans was excellent and cooked to perfection. The Trout was served with cheese polenta which was so light and left you wanting more. I highly recommend making the Livingston one of your top 3 with the menu changes that leave you wondering what is next.
I held a business lunch here and met with visiting attorneys because the location was convenient. However, the menu is quite limited and could really use updating. I would have lunch there more often if the menu had updated options. I had the chicken palliard and my chicken was heavily breaded and very deep fried (very hard and dry), I expected the chicken to be lighter and have a better quality. I was disappointed in my dining experience.
The food was great! The location was just perfect coz we were gonna watch a show at the fox at 1 pm. My only disappointment was nothing in the open table reservations said brunch started at 11 am. My husband and I wanted the Sunday brunch and then go to the show. But when I looked at their website it said breakfast starts at 630 or 7 am or thereabouts so when I saw nothing was available at 11 am but had an opening for 10 am i went ahead and made the reservations. When we got there and told them we were there for brunch we were told brunch doesn't start til 11 am and that they were already booked but we can come back at 11 am but won't have a table and THEN we were told that's a common mistake by open table app, meaning it's open table's fault it doesn't state clearly that anything before 11 am on a Sunday is just off the regular breakfast menu. It was very disappointing coz we were celebrating my birthday as well and was really looking forward to a birthday brunch. :(
Enjoyed our meal - husband said the veal was the best he's ever had. I tasted it and agreed. Salads were good too. Service was really friendly and good. Only negative was the bar - servers were nice but the clientele wasn't, not for an upscale bar. Overly drunk, somewhat argumentative group right beside us. Didn't feel at home and a nightcap experience at a comfortable hotel bar is something we rate hotels on.
Although the food was good, I was disappointed could not order from a menu..only had a buffet. The explanation was "it is Father's Day weekend and only a buffet is traditional". Would love to have known that in advance. Perhaps when I made my reservation? The room was terribly noisy.
My mom and I had dinner and drinks here before seeing Chris Rock at the Fox Theater. Great food, great atmosphere and service. Reasonably priced as well. I go here occasionally for lunch because I work in the area and I've never had a bad meal here. I'll definitely return.
Really great pre theater dining. Across the street from Fox Theater. The food and wine was delicious. We felt relaxed and enjoyed our meal before heading across the street. The veal was delicious, the short ribs were a little under seasoned but so tender, and the asparagus frites and cauliflower popcorn appetizer was tasty. Food is pricey but worth the convenience.
Saw a lot of mixed reviews about the spot, but decided to give it a chance. Being directly across from The Fox is great so I will contribute that to the prices being a tad bit inflated. The seating area is nice however I think the chairs are a little dated. Good selections of Bourbon...the veal chop was really good and the southern fried chicken was as well. The arugula salad was prepared well and our server Eric was outstanding
I was a little skeptical because of some of the reviews I read but it was a good experience for me and hubby. Our servers were great! The food was prepared well and came to the table hot. Our waiter was very attentive. Our drinks were refilled as needed.
The atmosphere was nice. The hotel was having a wedding in one of their ballrooms so there were a lot of people coming and going. However, that did not take away from us being served in a timely manner. The food was also good!
Tried to have a memorable birthday breakfast here. Worst dining experience in Atlanta. The only positive I can say about it is that is located in a beautiful building. It took at least 15 minutes to even get water. All the servers would walk by and look at us. No one seemed to want to wait on us. We had to ask for silverware , beg for coffee , and our meals were lackluster to say the least. We were so disappointed to say the least.
