Livingston Restaurant + Bar Ratings and Reviews
We came for an early, weekday lunch and the food was spectacular. It came out at a reasonable time and looked and tasted magnificent. Our server did not seem to enjoy us being there for some reason. He was very short with us and barely came around to our table even though we were the only ones there. Otherwise a fantastic experience with great views in a historic building.
The food at the Livingston was hit and miss. My daughter liked the arugula salad but her macaroni and cheese was too salty. My other daughter liked the gumbo but her shrimp dish was overlooked and tough. My mussels were good but my trout entree was WAY too salty
Our server was good and helped us to get to the theatre on time.
I am unlikely to return due to the heavy hand with the salt.
We went to Livingston's before a Sunday evening show at the Fox. The menu was short but the choices were all innovative, service was excellent, and everyone was very used to handling the "before the show" diners. We had a great time, food was delicious, and everyone took care of us.
The food could stand some improvement, scrambled eggs were cold and the shrimp and grits was way too salty. Thought the selection of items could have been better for the price. Convenient location for a matinee at the Fox and that is what made us try the brunch.
As a pre-Fox Theater brunch, everything worked quite well. Convenience was outstanding. The buffet only approach was also convenient but did not rise to the menu level. This is too bad because the experience would have been greatly enhanced. At the least, the omelet bar would have been a 5 Star addition.
The food was great. Our waiter brought the check before we finished eating. He didn't ask if we wanted coffee or dessert or if we wanted the bill split. We were a foursome of women who are 60+. Of course we want the bill split. And yes we usually get dessert, however we didn't today because of the we were treated by our server. Also we ordered an appetizer and it was never delivered. I felt like our server was overly friendly but not genuine.
I hadn't been to the Livingston in years. The food and the service were impeccable as usual. The restaurant has a quiet ambience to it. You can have a conversation and hear the other person. The food was delivered quickly. Everything we ordered was delicious. I wanted Lillet after dinner and they were out. Our server Ozge checked with bar and brought me a substitute that I liked even better. I will return not only for the food but the service.
We stayed at the Georgian Terrace on an overnight trip and the Livingston was a nice addition to our short stay. The restaurant is located close to many of the local attractions.
We were not very hungry and had to eat an early meal before heading to a concert, so we orders two salads and the spiced pork belly. The pork belly was crispy and had a savory marmalade paired with it. Everything was delicious and very filling. We would definitely return for another visit!
Livingston is the perfect place to get a very good meal when you are going to a show at the Fox. The service is always excellent with a regular staff of waiters. They are helpful with ordering and aware that we are on a time schedule. With a 5 or even 5:15 reservation, we have always been on time for the 6:30 Sunday night show, since we only have to walk across the street!
Bloody Mary's were nothing special, just Zing Zang. Felt rushed by our server pushing us to go ahead and get the buffet. Surprised that the only option was buffet as was not advised of this at time of reservation. Would not recommend as a pre-theater Sat/Sun destination
I made reservations for two but we ended up being seated in a long table for 8 people and two other individuals were seated at the other end of the long table 10 mins later. I was expecting that we'd get our own table. I think the seating that we got was equivalent to just walking in without reservations (I know this for a fact because we did walk in one afternoon and got the same seats in a long table). The food is very good but this issue in seating dampens my review of the place in its entirety.
My experience was just great - the atmosphere very comfortable and my waitress could not have been nicer. I didn't order a big meal but my mussels and salad with roasted peaches was just what I wanted. The people watching was very interesting and the views from outside added to my enjoyment. The fact that it is directly across from The Fox makes it a great place to dine before a performance and I will recommend it to my family as they have season tickets to the Fox. I missed my daughter greatly as she usually does the driving, parking, etc. but the parking turned out to be really easy for an older driver.
My friend and I had a girls night before seeing The King and I. The food and service were, as always, excellent! It's a treat for us to stay at the hotel and then have a wonderful meal and terrific show. Season tickets to the Fox means we will always have a wonderful meal at the Livingston!
We love it there!
