Livingston Restaurant + Bar Ratings and Reviews
The kitchen was a mess - so much confusion, orders were wrong and food coming out was extremely slow.
The kitchen appeared that this was the first day and everyone was new.
Then the manager went to all the other tables and apologize for the slow service and never said anything to us.
We won’t recommend or return.
We were unaware that they only served buffet on theater days. The food was good, a nice variety. It was so busy though that we didn't have much attention from the wait staff other then to take away dirty plates. After waiting 15 minutes or so we had to ask another server to find ours so we could pay our check.
Buffet remains buffet no matter the setting. That said, as a pre Fox Theater brunch, it also remains an excellent choice. Where else can one find fried chicken and collard greens along side French toast and thick bacon? Coffee was excellent and those in our party having mimosas and Bloody Marys were quite happy with their choice. A bit pricey perhaps but as part of the theater event it worked well and enhanced our day’s outing. Consider adding this to your choice.
Went to Livingston’s before a play at the Fox theatre. The meal was very good, the service was excellent and you can’t beat the convenience of being directly across the street from the Fox. The bonus is you get 3 hours complimentary valet parking with validation from restaurant saving about $10 versus nearby lots.
We were there for breakfast. Service was a little sketchy....not sure just what was happening...ordered our breakfast and it came right out but the english muffins came 10 minutes later...we kept asking...they just kept saying it was coming...just not what we expected
This restaurant might be a lovely place to go for a non-holiday dinner, but we were there for a prix fixe Thanksgiving buffet and the food had not been kept warm, and our waiter dropped the check on our table when we were halfway through with our meal, not even asking us if we wanted another drink. The ambience was nice, and the acoustics perfect for hearing the people at one’s table. But the lack of a good waiter made our experience feel more like being at an old timey buffet restaurant as opposed to a fine dining establishment.
Thanksgiving buffet was delightful, variety of foods was just right, not overdone at all. Standouts were the spinach salad, poached shrimp, carrots, potatoes, mac n cheese and of course the turkey was moist and the stuffing was like home! Then the dessert table, literally to die for! Bourbon pecan pie was incredible! Looking forward to making this a tradition.
The thanksgiving buffet was good. However, we had a reservation but when they sat us they gave us three seats at the end of a large table. They said they couldn’t provide a four top table because people were taking too long to finish. This really wasn’t handled well bc all they said was “there’s nothing we can do, you can sit at the bar if you want.” They didn’t look for a table where people might be close to finishing and provide an eta. We had to point out a table that looked like they were reviewing their check and asked if we could have that table. They agreed and we were sat relatively quickly but the lack of effort to remedy the situation was a little concerning.
The Livingston Restaurant + Bar Thanksgiving Buffet was marvelous! A great selection of hot & cold entrees as well as traditional fare was offered. Favorites were the salmon, NY strip, spinach salad and the bourbon pecan and key lime pies. Seating was timed well so that guests had enough time to eat and enjoy the meal without being rushed. Service staff were attentive. Definitely coming back again!
We came for an early, weekday lunch and the food was spectacular. It came out at a reasonable time and looked and tasted magnificent. Our server did not seem to enjoy us being there for some reason. He was very short with us and barely came around to our table even though we were the only ones there. Otherwise a fantastic experience with great views in a historic building.
The food at the Livingston was hit and miss. My daughter liked the arugula salad but her macaroni and cheese was too salty. My other daughter liked the gumbo but her shrimp dish was overlooked and tough. My mussels were good but my trout entree was WAY too salty
Our server was good and helped us to get to the theatre on time.
I am unlikely to return due to the heavy hand with the salt.
We went to Livingston's before a Sunday evening show at the Fox. The menu was short but the choices were all innovative, service was excellent, and everyone was very used to handling the "before the show" diners. We had a great time, food was delicious, and everyone took care of us.
The food could stand some improvement, scrambled eggs were cold and the shrimp and grits was way too salty. Thought the selection of items could have been better for the price. Convenient location for a matinee at the Fox and that is what made us try the brunch.
As a pre-Fox Theater brunch, everything worked quite well. Convenience was outstanding. The buffet only approach was also convenient but did not rise to the menu level. This is too bad because the experience would have been greatly enhanced. At the least, the omelet bar would have been a 5 Star addition.
