Best for brunch. Otherwise pass.
Since my family has been dining here on holidays, the quality of the food has decreased considerably. We started celebrating special family holidays here 2 years ago on Thanksgiving. We thought the food was excellent. This Mother’s Day was quite mediocre. There’s lot of food but the quality is simply fair. I don’t understand what happens to fried chicken to make it tough! The food is usually so tasty. This time, nothing was outstanding. It all tasted like I cooked it, and that’s nothing to leave home for!
This was our second mothers day brunch at Livingston, and everything was great.
Great Mother’s Dat Buffet
I was so disappointed. I made the reservation at least a month in advance clicking on Mother's Day Brunch. Turns out opentable offered breakfast times that did not coincide with the special brunch. We arrived at check-in and the hostess told me our table (which was for 10 people) was being occupied by another party and she didn't know when they would leave. Her alternative was to offer two 5 tops next to each other. My immediate family is 5 people so I would not be able to sit next to my own mother on mother's day. We decided to wait it out with twin 3 year olds and a 6 month old. Aging parents who traveled over an hour and my sister's family who traveled from 45 minutes away. 45 minutes later we get seated. It took another 15 minutes for our server to acknowledge us and take our drink orders. Then, another 15 minutes to get them. My wife had to actually go to the bussing area to fill up her own coffee because the server never came back to do refills. (Remember, this was a mother's day brunch). The drinks were not included in the price per person which is not stated anywhere. We asked to have the bill split three ways and the server said they did not split checks which also not stated on any of the brunch advertisements. I will say the saving grace between the incompetent hostess and the server who could careless about our experience was the food. It was wonderful. The staff overseeing the food was exceptional. Kudos to them because this place would have otherwise ruined Mother's Day.
We will never come back again. What a disappointment.
Food was mediocre. It did not taste freshly prepared.
Parking was confusing. No valet since the Fox Theatre had an event that evening. Was told by parking attendant the fee would be one amount, $8, but when we exited it was $15.
Unpleasant surprise! Not excited to return for dinner.
The food was unremarkable except for the Salmon Chip's appetizer. Service was great, atmosphere was great, the food did not match the level of service or atmosphere. Hire a new Executive Chef or have this one learn about seasoning.
Food was excellent. I had the steak and my wife had the veal chop both were cooked perfectly and very good. We shared the beet salad which was also excellent. All portions were very nicely sized and the presentations were very good. Eduardo was our waiter and he was superb. Very knowledgeable about the menu, gluten free options, the hotel, the area, etc., etc. The only issue was that there was a Kentucky Derby party going on in the bar and this made things extremely noisy for which Eduardo apologized for, although certainly not his fault. Once this cleared out things calmed down and the noise level was minimal. I had vodka rocks and they charged 0.75 for the rocks which my wife thought was ridiculous, probably should just add it to the price of the drink and not show it, the total for the drink would then have been 10.00 which is about normal, just a little psychological thing. All in all we enjoyed our meal there, would go back and would recommend it to others. Directly across the street from the Fox so very convenient for that. We were going to the symphony so the walk was about 13 blocks but an easy walk particularly in good weather. We rode Marta down and the North Ave. station is only maybe 2 blocks if that, and could have ridden Marta back to Arts Ctr station but decided to walk after such a filling meal. Ask for Eduardo he was great.
I expected much more from this restaurant. My husband ordered the "creole scallops and grits". The grits were watery and flavorless and only 4 scallops for an entree. Not sure where the creole went. I ordered the steak which although was cooked to order it was a very thin cut. For the price I would have expected more. We shared a apple sort of desert that I believe was heated in the microwave, rather soggy. Too bad I had been looking forward to eating in this iconic restaurant for a long time. Hopefully, they just had an off night.
My wife’s favorite date night place. Excellent food, service, and location
So disappointed. Have visited many times and had wonderful experiences. Sisters traveled from North for a visit and our experience this time was deplorable. Server Jessica brought sweet tea to table after unsweet was ordered. When told Jessica the tea was sweet she said no I brought unsweet. Diabetic sister had a few sips thinking taste was off. It was sweet . No apology just a drop of the unsweet tea. Never removed the sweet glasses of tea! Never asked if cocktails could be reordered. Drink refill , lemons requested and horseradish sauce never came or came at end of meal. The horseradish sauce was dropped at end of table with no comment. When the server approached and I asked if she was taking drink orders first ( after sitting with no attention) she rudely stated no taking whole order now. I’ll space it out! Food was not hot when served and a specific request for no cheese on steak was ignored then brushed off and served with the same taste left for sister who gags on cheese. I would like to praise Eduardo who greeted us in a lovely manner and even took a second to speak about the show playing at Fox. I never mind paying the price for a great meal but with server like Jessica I don’t know if I’ll return Jessica made you feel invisible , in addition she put a 20percent gratuity on the check. Normally even with mediocre service I tip at 25 percent. First terrible experience at Livingston’s one that really left a taste so bad not sure I’ll return!
Always enjoy a cocktail and dinner before theater! You are always our first choice! It was a lovely start to our evening.
We came for Easter brunch and while
The food was good the service was GREAT. Our server was kind, attentive and funny! I can’t believe I don’t remember her name but she was a lovey young Indian women with a bob hair cut. Her warmth made our experience so memorable. We will be back for Easter next year and recommend it to everyone we know.
Easter brunch was delicious and the service was impeccable
It was again a great time at the Livingston!Today - A Great breakfast for all 5 of us! Super service, food, and comfort.
We will be back many times!
The food was wonderful and delicious. Our waitress was not. Besides her flat non welcoming tone and facial expressions. We ended up being there 2 hours and 40 minutes simply because she wouldn’t come back. She took our initial drink order and appetizer order quickly. The appetizers were brought to the table fairly quickly. Then a good 40 minutes went by before she asked about our entrees. Keep in mind at this time there were only about three tables with customers. Finally dinner was brought to the table by someone else. We finished eating and our dirty dishes sat in front of us while we tried to get her attention. At this point the show across the street let out. So the restaurant got full. She never once during dinner came to check if we needed anything. Good thing the food was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Now I had to wave her over to ask for dessert menus. She then proceeded to even wrap utensils in napkins as we watched her. Thirty minutes later we still did not have a dessert menu! So I waved at her again while she was a row over, she leaned over that client to ask us if we wanted our check to which I replied we were still waiting on dessert menus! She didn’t even apologize and didn’t even rush over with the menus. About 5 minutes later as we watched her walk around the restaurant We placed our orders and that included an after dinner cordial for me, she still did not apologize or even speak to us. She came back with that drink and shoved it in front of me and walked away. Finally our desserts came and we then asked for our check.
After we paid, because I do not complain until after so people do not think I want something for free, we spoke with the manager David. He was wonderful and willing to have us for lunch the next day not that we could. We informed him that we had just experienced one of our worst dining experiences based alone on service because the food was awesome. We were just so disappointed.
The service was severely lacking for the atmosphere. We had to help clear our own table for the next course. Seemed like our waitress was not used to serving in a fine dine restaurant.
Great place for a business lunch! Had the succotash salad w blackened chicken which was off the charts.
My husband and I enjoyed our Brunch prior to our afternoon show at The Fox. The shrimp and grits were amazing! The only downside is that you already pay $25 for the brunch but your drink is not included. Beautiful architecture and great staff.
Wonderful brunch! Beautiful setting! Highly recommend!
Good food and great service
Bon Appetit...... Livingston's never disappoints. Time after time we have received perfectly paced, friendly, attentive service; food selections that will please every appetite; and it is always the best dining experience prior to a show at The Fox. We started with the Salmon Scallops, Steak, and Fish entrees made their way to our table, all enjoyed with the perfect glass of wine. I truly have lost count of how many times we have dined here but we will be back for sure.
The only advantage of eating here is the close proximity to the Fox Theater. The brunch food was not hot, the chicken was very over breaded, the biscuits were cold! Extremely over priced for the food! I also had a reservation for 8 and my family had to be split and seated at 2 separate table. Very disappointing!
Overall a good experience. My server Jessica was awesome. However the manager David was kinda a jerk. He was very concerned that we were too large of a group and tried to make us go downstairs. If it wasn’t for Trevor the concierge out front, he would have ruined my birthday. Trevor got me to stop crying and got me taken care of. Love the restaurant but did not like David at all.
The food was adequate but nothing special. The service was very poor and the noise level was too loud. There were 3 of us ordering the same thing with different drinks, and the server had to repeat it 3 times before getting it right. Once the food was delivered, we did not see the waitress again until she brought the check. We had to request water refills twice from other servers, and the waitress did not ask if we would like dessert or coffee. It was difficult to have a conversation due to the noise level. My guests were from out of town and have visited twice a year for the last 15 years. We always go to different restaurants, and they remarked this was the most disappointing to date. With all the restaurants in the ATL, I would not go back or recommend.
A good place to have lunch before a performance at the Fox!
Great brunch buffet before the Fox.
Wonderful experience! Would recommend it to anyone! Kid friendly ❤️
Lovely restaurant for pre theater or post theater dining. We sat inside but there are tables outside and if you are having drinks and small plates, it is nice to watch the theater goers
The food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
My son and his date went here before prom. They said the food was very good and they enjoyed the ambiance, but they said the wait staff were just okay and didn't help them to feel special...especially before prom. Oh, well. We tried.
Enjoyable, but menu a bit limited.
We went for brunch which was OK but we’re super disappointed there was no egg station
Had a great dinner before heading across the street to the Fox Theatre.
What a wonderful restaurant - we loved staying at the Georgian to see Jersey Boys. Reservations at Livingston was just perfect. Food was delicious, host and server were on point and the convenience of it all was unequaled. When made aware of my husband meat allergy (alpha-gal) they were made sure his dinner was prepared in a way that there would be no cross contamination with his meal. I would recommend to a friend.
Saw the Jersey Boys at the Fox and made reservations there. Guess we didn't read the fine print as they were only serving a buffet. for what we got, paid way too much; salad, fruit plate, scrambled eggs and biscuits & gravy. $50???
It was a late 80th birthday dinner with my Dad. The. we went over to the Fox for Jersey Boys.
Food was hit or miss, service was ok but not great, Valet took forever. Even though the only had 3 other tables filed in entire place they refused to do separate checks which is really annoying. Will not go back with a group again.
Great place to dine whether your are going to the Fox Theater or not. The hotel is spectacular and a true Atlanta gem!
the food was better than in the past - the service was fantastic, it was very very loud, even the younger 20 something in our group had issues hearing, the music was nice when we could hear it. this was our first time sitting downstairs, we typically sit up stairs.
