Food was good but not worth what you pay. The sea scallops were nice but 4 for $30 is a little much.
Pre-Theater menu was limited. The Delmonico steak was overdone and the Pear Dessert was undercooked.
Overall experience was bad. Food, under-staffed, small boring menu, 2 bartenders couldnt keep up.
Food was good, server was nonexistent, he only took our food order without saying hello or anything and then gave us our check. No coffee refills or questions about the food or anything. Would have been better to have been a walk up counter to order food. If the service was better I would have gave 5 stars cus the food was excellent.
The Livingston should be a fantastic experience but they have changed things up to capitalize off the Fox Theatre crowd and that is unfortunate. Whether you are there before a show or not you should expect excellent food and service. We were there pre-show. Two hours before the show. They already were in "show" mode with a Pre-Fix menu. The fried chicken dish I ordered was bland but the trout dish my date ordered was OK.
I don't understand why they couldn't offer both a normal menu and a "show" menu for those wanting the quick turn around on food. Add to that the insult that parking is also in "show" mode ($30) and there is no validated parking by the restaurant on show nights and you get the picture - capitalism at its best - If the food would have been great then maybe I'd return.
I've eaten there many times and always been pleased but with this change I'd be cautious about eating there again when an event is happening at the Fox. Not worth the cost.
I was very excited to try this restaurant, because I had never been there. My friends and I were going to a show, and I made reservations based on the menu I saw when I booked. The ambiance was perfect, and our server did a great job. The issue I had was there was a set menu, of which, I didn’t know that’s how it would be. It was $45 per person, and there were only 4 entree selections. I didn’t like any of the selections so I settled for a ribeye, which I would never order! My suggestion, for the future, is to provide more than 4 choices on a menu that costs $45 per person.
Great food and superior service especially for Fox events!
It was a very elegant experience as always.
The food always good and service is always excellent. The value can’t be beaten and the location is perfect for a pre-show dinner. I will say that the dessert menu is definitely not the restaurants focus but the entree’s are always killer.
I was disappointed that the menu was limited to the pre-theater selections instead of the full menu available online. While what we had was good, it was not what we hoped for based upon what was on the website. It might be a good customer service if there was a calendar or some other notice on the website when this was going to happen. It is not a normal inclination to check and see if there is a show at the theater across the street when making a dinner reservation. While I might recommend the Livingston to a friend, I would not do so on a theater evening.
Wonderful place to eat before or after a show at The Fox. The staff, chef and menu were mindful of showtimes. The chef created a wonderful and creative menu for preshow. The waiters kept track of the timing during our 3 course meal. Excellent fine dining experience.
Note: parking at the Georgian was $40. No validating anymore for dining at the Livingston.
Decided not to eat there didn’t mention in the web site that Sunday was only $30 buffet .Could not order off the menu posted online. Went to someplace else
The brunch was excellent and well worth the price. We hope to visit again soon.
We had a great time dining at Livingstons. The Restaurant was beautiful and was very convenient after attending the Alvin Ailey Show.
Close to the Fox
Staff is lovely
My guest and I ordered beet salads which were tasteless
Shrimp on grit cakes were good
Service was great, the building is beautiful, but it felt like the kind of food you would get at a cheap diner. The dishes were way over seasoned- I couldn’t finish my trout, it was so salty. The prices were too high for the quality of food.
Anniversary lunch.
I have been to Livingston’s many times, and have always had delicious food. I have not been in a couple of years, and this time I was so disappointed. The cornbread served on our arrival was refrigerator cold. The mushroom toast was not toasted. It was chewy and hard to even bite or cut. The kale salad had hot peppers in it that mad me choke and I had difficulty breathing for a minute. The entrees (sea bass and ravioli) were flavorless, under seasoned and disappointing. The coconut and pineapple cheesecake was delicious. Our server was attentive and did a good job.
Could only order off of the fixed menu. The appetizer in the entrées were just fine however the cheesecake and torte were frozen? Never had frozen cheesecake as it is a parent you do not make your dessert fresh in the house
Went to Fox.
It would have been better to have had a reduction in the valet parking charge.
Such a nice evening out...I enjoyed my steak and hubby enjoyed the fried chicken. Top Notch.
We enjoyed our dinner celebrating our son's birthday before going to the Fox Theater!!
The ambiance is beautiful and very conducive to having a conversation. And of course, if you are seeing a performance at the Fox, the location is perfect! I can only comment on their brunch buffet. Because of the ambiance & location, I would like to go back when I can order off the menu but not for the buffet. We did not know when we made our reservation that mealtime before Fox matinee’s are buffet only. At first look, it looked like we were going to be in for a real treat! The buffet was visually beautiful! The food that was supposed to be hot was nearly ice cold and the food that was supposed to be cold was room temperature. I chose pancakes at one point because I saw a staff member just bringing them out and I really wanted something hot and fresh (I assumed they were just made), but they were cold and crunchy. Didn’t even know a pancake could become crunchy?.? The scrambled eggs were ice cold and I think from powdered eggs. I enjoyed the salad bar portion but not $30 worth
Excellent before the Theatre meal.
Livingston’s is more than just a convenient restaurant when catching a Fox performance. Food and service are both excellent.
This is an excellent place to go, especially just before a show at the Fox theater.
Excellent food with remarkable service. Not only was the wait staff exceptional, the kitchen cranked out the food fast because they knew most of the patrons were attending the show at The Fox across the street. The plates do not look like they were rushed together though. The food was perfectly cooked and the presentation was excellent.
Love the historical significance and great food
Great mussels and cocktails! And a great place to go in for a nice atmosphere and good food just before a show at the Fox Theatre. We've been there a few times and it has been good. Service was good and attentive.
Probably good at dinner but breakfast wasn't that good. Powder eggs and ths sides were like any typical hotel continental breakfast.
I wanted to be more impressed with the restaurant than I was. The waiter had little or no personality and it was all business. I didn’t feel he made us feel welcome. Three of us had the trout. I substituted the Parmesan fries for whatever came with the meal. They were very disappointing because they were cold inside. I must say though, the waiter deducted my drink from the bill because of that. All it in it was just a mediocre experience and I don’t think I would go back.
I very much enjoyed it. The prices are totally reasonable. The food was good. The atmosphere is beautiful, and we had a great server. She was very busy, yet she was attentive and personable. It's overall a very nice restaurant.
We had an amazing time!
My son and I ate at Livingston as part of our annual Christmas tradition. We chose the restaurant for the location, strong reviews and menu selections. Livingston did not disappoint. To begin, our server, Craig, was delightful. He gave us an overview of the menu as well as the specials. The attendant staff were very professional and friendly. The restaurant space was decorated festively lending to a wonderful ambiance. I highly recommend Livingston to Atlantans as well as visitors to the city.
I have been dining at this particular restaurant on Christmas Day with my family for over 5 years. However, sadly the food was disappointing when we ate this time. The buffet choices were okay but were not worth the price. My mother also found metal in her food. Last year the restaurant exceeded our expectations, however this year not so much.
Beautiful dining room. Service was good. All of the hot dishes of food was COLD, not even luke warm, some tasteless.
We were looking for a new tradition for our Christmas Day celebration! We chose Livingston for a number of reasons: we love brunch; parking; it's a buffet, and the price was extremely reasonable. The restaurant is lovely. It's very light and open. There is a seating area upstairs as well as downstairs. Our server was attentive with a fun, celebratory spirit. Unfortunately, the food was nothing special for several reasons: we have dietary needs and restrictions within our family and the food did not serve us well in this area. The hot food was served in chafing dishes and just didn't keep the food very warm at all. There was a large assortment of options: scrambled eggs (with cheese, unfortunately); potatoes, shrimp and grits, biscuits with gravy, chicken sausage, bacon, fried chicken, a small salad bar, beef sliders and (cold) fries, fresh fruit with yogurt and toppings, and a variety of sweet pastries, cookies, puddings, petit fours, and pies. I think we are used to a restaurant being a little more forthcoming with ingredients and options in 2019. I did search for a Christmas Day Brunch menu on their website, but there was none listed. And, while this experience wasn't the best for me and my family, you should try it! It's a solid brunch with a Southern flair.
Great spot. We had reservations for the Christmas Day brunch, but the only option presented was the regular menu. But the service was great and food was good.
The food was pretty bad. Several items came out not as described (e.g., no broccoli in the broccoli and cheese rice, couldn’t taste pimento in the pimento smashed potatoes) and other items were just extremely lackluster. I got the friend chicken and it could’ve been good, but it was super dry and was served with no gravy or sauce. The potlikker was somehow not salty, and you really can’t serve that down the street from Mary Mac’s and not make it at least competitive. Finally, the truffle Mac & cheese was honestly worse than box Mac & cheese. Will not be going back for food and highly recommend you going elsewhere!!
Five star venue, excellent gourmet food and a kids menu!
