Always a good meal and friendly service. My son and I go here a lot - he loves the sushi rolls.
I've been here quite a few times and got excited that it's near my new job. They are very consistent and the fish is very fresh. Delicious oysters! And I am a big fan of special rolls which they have. There can be quite a wait on weekends for dinner and also there aren't any dessert options besides mochi. Would recommend !
We made reservations through open table for 8:45 PM and wasn't seated until 9:45 PM! Not only did they not honer the reservation time but service was extremely rude. I've been going here since 2011 and I will not be going back. The hostess did try to apologize when we asked about our table multiple times but our waitress was beyond rude. She didn't even acknowledge the wait nor was she friendly. I would have expected bare minimal someone to come by to apologize or give us a free app or something! Never will we be coming back!
This experience was great. We (three of us) were seated right away after mentioning the reservation. We wanted to try uni for the first time, and our waitress was very knowledgeable of what varieties available that day (Uni is only available on the weekend). The nigiri and sushi rolls came out in waves (as expected), and the service was awesome - asked how we were doing and refilled my water ~ 5 times. We would definitely come back.
Made reservations but it didn't matter. They offered bar and didn't save tables for those who reserved
Great place to eat and the quality of the fish was very tasty. I've passed by this place frequently and this was one of the first times I've been here. I will be coming back more often since I live so close by!
Great food and friendly service
The staff is courteous and thoughtful. Our order was taken quickly and delivered quickly. The waitress was attentive but not too attentive. Meal was excellent. I had one of the box entrees.
Nice blue fin.
One word, AMAZING! Love the food, happy staff and always great to be back!
I am a regular customer, and the restaurant is just down my street, but I must admit that the service at "Live Sushi" is getting worse and worse. I may look around for a new Sushi restaurant.
Some fish was great (i.e. salmon belly) and some could have been fresher (scallop). Pretty expensive for what you get though mostly tasty.
This remains my favorite sushi restaurant. Food is consistently fresh and delicious. Staff Members are warm, welcoming and helpful. The atmosphere is casual and always busy with appreciative customers.
That's our favorite sushi in a town we've been going there for over two years.
The place is quiet ,the food is great and a service is very good!
Try their specials you will not be disappointed!
Second time here and the food is very good. We both had the Bento boxes with 2 choices: spicy tuna & tonkatsu & teriyaki beef & tempura veggies. Both came with miso soup/rice & a good portioned salad. The restauarant setting feels like you are dining at someones home. The Only thing that didn't fit was the club music playing quite loudly over the speakers. Some nice Japanese music would have made it a perfect dining experience! Our server was very attentive and pleasant.
My husbands birthday
Maybe because it was a Special Occasion being that it was Mother's Day, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, and even though they were very friendly, the service was terrible. Not once, twice, but at least three times they told us the food was on the way and at least 40 minutes went by after the first time they told us and this was after they brought out the one dish for my daughter. She waited for us, but didn't care that her Udon noodle soup was likely a whole lot cooler than when they first brought it out. So, first faux pais . . . if you're going to have the other orders late, then don't bring out the one, especially if it is a hot dish; second, don't keep telling us it's on the way and have us believing that it is truly on the way when it isn't. They brought out a "free" dish of edamame for our wait, but it would have been a bit more considerate if they gave us a discount off our food for our very long wait. And we didn't even order anything big or complicated for the other orders.
The food was good once it arrived, but nothing to write home about; certainly not to make up for the very long wait.
Sushi is excellent. Extremely fresh.
My go to place for sushi. As always, delicious fresh fish with great service staff and casual neighborhood ambience.
LIVE never fails to deliver impeccable food and service to match. I finally branched away from my typical order and tried something new this time. And I can honestly say that it exceeded my expectations. Excellent, fresh food with upbeat, friendly and doting staff make for a fine dining experience without the fine dining $$$.
Always a great easy experience, super friendly staff. I've came in many times with out a reservation and with my baby, they are always welcome! The sushi speaks for itself!
The services provided by waitresses Naomi and Mai was professional, kind, and exceptional. The food was great and the environment was cozy and welcoming. Will highly recommend to friends and family.
Don't go here if you want an enjoyable dinner. They're eager to kick you out before you even finish eating.
Thanks we will be back. It is close by, reasonable prices. The sashimi was very good and fresh.
By far and always my favorite Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area. Freshest fish, good sized portions, fair prices, excellent service. Nothing compares. We go every chance we get!
Thank you for helping us celebrate the beginning of a wonderful birthday week for my fiance 😊😀
Tasty but fairly chaotic
I love coming here. They always have such fresh fish, and it just feels like the perfect cozy neighborhood sushi spot. It takes the craft seriously without being pretentious.
Incredible food and service
The Sweet Potato Roll and the Vegie Temp Roll were very tasty. The flight of saki called Earth was crisp, light, and lovely. The DJ Roll was great. Best in Potrero Hill.
Very fresh seafood.
We ordered grilled squid as an appetizer, it was fantastic. The Toro nigiri was great too but expensive at $19 per order, it was worth it though. Would have given it five stars but yellowfish was a bit disappointing. Good mochi too
The sashimi was amazing. Tempura light and crispy. A few dishes were missed - the short rib appetizer was very fatty. Not my favorite. But overall a fun place to try things and good service. Up and coming neighborhood so there was parking on a Friday at 8:30!! Huge plus.
Overall, my friend and I really enjoyed Live Sushi. I would definitely go back and recommend to friends and family. They were friendly and accommodated us (earlier in the day I made a reservation via OpenTable, but when we arrived there was no reservation under my name via OpenTable). How was my reservation on OpenTable missed? This was the first time this happened to me. How can I ensure this will not happen with future reservations? I really like using OpenTable for recommendations and to see what's new. Thank you!
The double Hamachi Roll was deliciously fresh. Tripled down on Hamachi and ordered the Kama, also. It was well-seasoned and cooked just right. Stay away from the tempura. The batter was soggy and lacked flavor. But it's not called "Live Tempura", now is it!? I'd definitely return and stick to the sushi and sashimi. Service was meh. We were the second party to walk in at lunch so it was not busy yet--not sure why servers was inattentive. Servers were very nice, but didn't fill our tea cups, forgot our miso soup and didn't bring a salad we ordered. I'd still go back!
We chose Live Sushi based on the numerous reviews on Yelp and Opentable. We were not disappointed! There was a wide variety of dishes, but we only had sushi. The fish was very fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place! It is VERY loud though, so be ready for that. The service was very rushed as well, but the food was great.
We made a reservation for a table at 7:15 (which was when we arrived) but were asked at 7:40 to sit at the corner of the sushi bar
What's the point of accepting reservations if walk-ins and those with reservations get seated with the same priority?
I've been going to Live Sushi for years. I have never been disappointed with their food or their service. On busy nights, it could get quite loud because of the small venue. But, there is a lot of energy that you can feed on when it is busy. Service is great. The staff always has a smile and more than willing to help you with your meal. Overall, you need to try this spot.
amazing food and great service
Used to go there couple times a month but haven't been back in a few months. Fish is nowhere near what it used to be and for a Sat night the restaurant was not even full. Spent over $500 for 6 people for a birthday dinner . Not sure we will be back.
