Live Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
My group had reservations for a party of 7 on a Friday night. The restaurant was extremely under staffed, and it took a long time to get everything. I understand that the restaurant was busy, but I saw how frazzled each employee was because of the busyness.
Came in on a Saturday night, to a full restaurant; and was immediately seated for our reservations. Restaurant was definitely bustling, and guests were all having a great time. Servers were working as a team to turn tables, and getting to guest's needs. Made it for an overall great experience.
Every time I eat at Live Sushi I am amazed by the consistently fresh delicious fish. Staff is always informative and friendly. They are there when you need them without intruding on your dining experience.
Sometimes I think I should try a new place just for variety, but leave feeling a bit disappointed because they fall short of Live Sushi.
Supremely fresh fish, many catching the day fresh flown in from Japan. Presentation and prep was excellent.
Service staff not very attentive and even after multiple times asking for double the water after a hot day and walking there, slow to bring and didn't double up! If they could also come and check empty glasses more frequently, they are on to something great. Place was practically empty at opening, no excuses.
Even though it may not seem like much from the outside or when you first get in, it is definitely a gem to find. It was a nice (almost hole in the wall type feel) that allows you get the freshest ingredients placed in front of you. We had the live uni, the chef's special oysters/ uni shooters, and the lover's boat that was upgraded with fish that was imported directly from Japan's seas. The food was also accompanied by some Sapporo and House Sake. They have a big selection of sakes and sake flights that you can try, but since I am just fine with the house sake, I didn't dive into those selections. From the menu, they also had ramen, udon, tempura, edamame, and bento boxes that you can choose from during dinner.
I've been to live sushi many times. This is the second time we've gone having reservations and have had to wait in excess of 20 minutes for a table to open up(the last time is was over 45). This can't really be blamed on the restaurant as they don't want to literally kick people who are done with their meal out of the restaurant but it still isn't ideal. Especially when you're really hungry.
The server took about 10 minutes to get to our table which is annoying after waiting for a table for 20mins with a reservation. After she came over things got better.
The food is decent but some of the fish seemed a little watery/bloated. My gf and I eat sushi at least once a week so this was something I hadn't experienced before.
The Chu toro was the best of the night and of course the most expensive. Not sure if we'll go back as there are many other better spots with better service and better fish.
I've been here quite a few times and got excited that it's near my new job. They are very consistent and the fish is very fresh. Delicious oysters! And I am a big fan of special rolls which they have. There can be quite a wait on weekends for dinner and also there aren't any dessert options besides mochi. Would recommend !
We made reservations through open table for 8:45 PM and wasn't seated until 9:45 PM! Not only did they not honer the reservation time but service was extremely rude. I've been going here since 2011 and I will not be going back. The hostess did try to apologize when we asked about our table multiple times but our waitress was beyond rude. She didn't even acknowledge the wait nor was she friendly. I would have expected bare minimal someone to come by to apologize or give us a free app or something! Never will we be coming back!
This experience was great. We (three of us) were seated right away after mentioning the reservation. We wanted to try uni for the first time, and our waitress was very knowledgeable of what varieties available that day (Uni is only available on the weekend). The nigiri and sushi rolls came out in waves (as expected), and the service was awesome - asked how we were doing and refilled my water ~ 5 times. We would definitely come back.
Second time here and the food is very good. We both had the Bento boxes with 2 choices: spicy tuna & tonkatsu & teriyaki beef & tempura veggies. Both came with miso soup/rice & a good portioned salad. The restauarant setting feels like you are dining at someones home. The Only thing that didn't fit was the club music playing quite loudly over the speakers. Some nice Japanese music would have made it a perfect dining experience! Our server was very attentive and pleasant.
Maybe because it was a Special Occasion being that it was Mother's Day, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, and even though they were very friendly, the service was terrible. Not once, twice, but at least three times they told us the food was on the way and at least 40 minutes went by after the first time they told us and this was after they brought out the one dish for my daughter. She waited for us, but didn't care that her Udon noodle soup was likely a whole lot cooler than when they first brought it out. So, first faux pais . . . if you're going to have the other orders late, then don't bring out the one, especially if it is a hot dish; second, don't keep telling us it's on the way and have us believing that it is truly on the way when it isn't. They brought out a "free" dish of edamame for our wait, but it would have been a bit more considerate if they gave us a discount off our food for our very long wait. And we didn't even order anything big or complicated for the other orders.
The food was good once it arrived, but nothing to write home about; certainly not to make up for the very long wait.
