Little Star Pizza Ratings and Reviews
Always a pleasure dining here so we go quite often. Wait staff is friendly yet professional. Our favorite menu items are the Little Star deep dish pizza and the Green Goddess salad.
Never get tired of eating those. Wine choices are reasonably priced and pair well with the food. A great place to have in the neighborhood!
Star still shines
It was a very warm night and we made reservations which was a must. We were seated immediately and our servers were personable and excellent. Because of the restaurant was busy it took a while to get the pizzas which was a problem with hungry kids. The wedge salad with blue cheese was excellent and the classic pizza was good but not great. It was a bit under cooked and didn't have any umph! The beer was cold and refreshing.
I took my grandsons for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We love this place because we can each get our own individual size pizza and ask for any toppings we want! There is also a nice selection of child beverages. Plus the pizza is delicious ~ thin crust, not overwhelming amounts of cheese which is the way we like it.
Little Star has decayed: twice in a row, the garlic bread arrived AFTER the drinks, salad, and Pizza, and on that second occasion, after garlic bread had been served to the next table -- who were seated 10 minutes after us!
The once-excellent pizza crusts now taste like cardboard made of cornmeal.
Staff used to recognize regulars but gave everyone good service; no longer, it now feels like faceless factory time.
Really a sad loss, as we will no longer return -- and we have been customers in Albany since Day 1. :-(
We arrived on time, but still had to wait for a 2 top in the worst location in the restaurant. We sat next to a supply "closet" that was used continuously, in a corner, against a cold window overlooking a parking lot, and next to a toddler. I would not recommend this for a date night. Pro's: pizza was yummy and our server was pretty good. Con's: salad wasn't dressed well, drinks were way too sweet, and the room we were seated in was unpleasant. The restaurant wasn't full when we arrived, nor throughout the meal, so I don't know why we couldn't be reseated. It would have made a difference. Two tops were being told the wait was 20-30 minutes. Why? Who were those invisible VIP's?
Enjoyed sitting in booth area rather than near door or bar area where it can be drafty and bit noisier. Service was friendly. We ordered a meatball pizza and this time, as with other times, it never arrives really hot - always kind of warm. Would like them to make sure it's hot, but maybe because of the ricotta on top, they let it cool a bit so the ricotta won't melt? Love the deep dish pizzas and good wine selection by the glass and cocktails.
Little Star's pizza is one of my favorites, of all time. My partner and I go here for our comfort food. I highly recommend the Goddess Salad, the White Pie and the Classic. We prefer thin crust, but their deep dish is wonderful as well. Theirs is the best crust I've ever had. Service was both attentive and restrained so as not to overwhelm. Topped dinner off with a glass of Chilean red wine, and it was a lovely evening.
