Some what shocking atmosphere, black, stark..compared to name..expecting "southern experience>" Limited menu, particularly because we went on Easter, surprised to see so few choices. What we had was good, but should have done more research on the actual aim of the owners and chef.
The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was even better. I would definitely visit again.
Ambience was amazing. Service was exceptional. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu. I forget her name. I'm sorry. The shrimp and grits were out of this world delicious. We had a wonderful time. Thanks, Cliff.
Great place, never disappoints.
My husband and I went for date night. The drinks are inventive and tasty and the beer/wine list is not something you can pick up at the grocery (yay!). We had the cheese plate and Thai Brussels sprouts for starters. Both were really delicious! For entrees, I got the shrimp and grits and my husband got the pork. They were our least favorite part of the meal. Mine was bland and muddled except the grits, which had way too much thyme. Maybe we just picked the wrong things. We ended with the banana bread pudding and fancy coffee drinks, which were yummy. Service was good and attentive. Prices are reasonable. Note: We went on a Monday and still had trouble parking so give yourself some extra time.
Long wait for food, only 4-6 people in the place. Under done fried chicken. Bartender was HI??
Fantastic! Always fantastic!
We had not been to Little Savanah lately and are glad we became reacquainted with this special restaurant. The Holt house salad was great (get the large size and share it!). All entries were very delicious and plated attractively. Price point was reasonable. Interesting craft cocktails were available. My wife and a friend of hers went back for dinner a few days later and had another very good experience.
We went out last minute and love their food.. it was excellent as always!
The staff was really awesome and made the first time experience a memorable one. The bar is really nice and comfortable. The food was really outstanding and freshly made. This place is a hidden jewel on the Birmingham Restaurant scene.
Cliff Holt is a great chef. The Holt house salad with a roasted beet is the best salad in Birmingham. The ambience was amazing. Michael was our server. He provided outstanding service. The food was delicious.
The food was good but not as good as a year or so ago when we went. My husbands food was not to his standards but they took care of that which was appreciated. My food and my friends food was good though. Our server was kind but seemed a little off.
Great food, waitress was attentive, and the atmosphere was very comfortable and modern.
We love Little Savannah! The Veggie Plate is amazing!! We mentioned we were vegan in our reservation through Open Table and Clif and the team made an excellent dish to accommodate.
A little valentines date with the little lady. We had a blast!
The lamb was great . Ambience was good. Romantic. We had a great server. Bread was very. I definitely recommend the bread pudding.
Food wasn’t bad, but not particularly good either. Thought it was fairly expensive for what it was.
Crab cake was very good but the salad I ordered did not come with goat cheese as I believe was advertised
Disappointed in the menu offerings for this night.
Chef Cliff and his staff were extremely attentive. The food, wine & cocktails were fabulous. Recommendations from our server were perfect. Everything absolutely exceeded expectations. We can not wait to return.
As always, the drinks and food were special. Probably the best crab cake and the best fish I have had in several years. This Resturant is a jewel!
Wasn't great. We had reservations but when we arrived there was no hostess or anyone present to seat us. We almost left, but after a few minutes someone showed up.
We had to choose three different bottles of wine before they finally had one of them in stock. Each time the waitress came back and recommended a grossly more expensive bottle than the one I asked for. The wine we ended up with, however, was nice.
Food was okay. Brussel sprouts were pretty good, but both the lamb chops and the burger tasted too charred without much other flavor. All in all, it was a mediocre experience. Probably won't go back.
Food was stellar. Great service. Highly recommend for date night, special occasion or daily dining. Was our first time but it will certainly become a regular go-to spot for us.
Always good
The food was very good. It was very busy the night we ate there and our food sat a little too long in the kitchen before it was brought out to us, so everything we had was not warm. Other than that I would recommend.
As a local, Little Savannah is our "go to" for business and personal eating. The food is outstanding, the bartender is fantastic, and the staff and owner are friendly and engaged. I recommend this restaurant for both business and personal meals. It is a quiet, relatively undiscovered Birmingham treasure.
this is one of the little gems of Birmingham to have a wonderful meal with any of your family and friends.
Talented kitchen. Food is very well prepared, Sophisticated, new-Southern recipes without being fussy. Cocktail menu is very interesting and fun also. We like upscale food in a room with a casual, local vibe so its spot on for us.
Our favorite restaurant! The food is delicious every time! Chef Holt is extremely creative and his dishes never disappoint! Little Savannah is perfect for any occasion!
Reservations were made. However, my friends and I were seated in the bar area at a table next to the door. I would have thought if reservations were made, we would have gotten preference to dine in that area. In the future, please be mindful where your hostess seat new comers when reservations are made in advance. That is so important to me in an atmosphere like that. The food was ok but we were not asked how we wanted our meat cooked. My friend's meat was too rare to her liking and mine was ok. The waiter was very nice and that goes a long ways so hands up for that.
We've been going here since the restaurant opened and have never been disappointed.....always good, always fresh/local ingredients.
They had our reservations for our anniversary dinner, but the host had a hard time seating us. Eventually, they put us at a 2-seater near the window. There must have been a draft in the window because we were absolutely freezing. Kept our jackets on. The wait staff was a little while in delivering the menu. Menu was little light with not much on it, but everything looked good. Wife got beef tenderloin, which was delicious. I got gumbo and a salad. I didn't like the salad, but the gumbo was pretty good. Apps were good: warm bread and olive oil and some crab claws. Wife said she'd come back. I'm not as sure. Her tenderloin was delicious, though. If I go back, that's what I'll have.
Everyone was very accommodating and friendly. We really enjoyed our entire meal but the appetizers were especially fantastic!
Great food great place great people! vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Delicious food. Outstanding service. Amazing ambience. I'm a regular. I'll be back.
My friends and I had a wonderful meal a Little Savannah. The appetizers were very good. My crab cakes were as close to perfect as can be expected. We all had a different dish and each was delicious. The service was good, but not overbearing. Chef Holt was very helpful and gracious to us and even suggested what I eventually had for my meal. I would recommend Little Savannah for anyone looking for a quite place to eat with friends or for a date.
Excellent food! Great service. Very personable staff.
We visit Little Savannah 2-3 times a year and always have wonderful meals. Friday night was an exception. I ordered the crab cakes and they were filled with shells. The tomato risotto that accompanied the crab cakes was delicious and could have been a stand alone dish. I ordered a specialty cocktail and was displeased with the flavor. The bubbly cocktail was mixed with gin and was not a pleasant combination. My husband enjoyed his specialty cocktail, a ginger-based drink. The dessert left little to be desired. We ordered the pound cake with strawberry anglaise. It was incredibly dense and not buttery at all. The finely chopped basil that was sprinkled on top of the pound cake was not needed and clashed with the flavors of the cake and berries. Overall, we were expecting a 5 star meal and left feeling like we had a lackluster experience. I am wondering if the food’s quality was lacking because the executive chef was wandering around the restaurant schmoozing with guests instead of managing the kitchen and handling quality control. I wish the experience had been different, as we have always listed Little Savannah as our favorite date night restaurant.
It was awesome
Little Savannah is in a quaint revitalized neighborhood. The building is obviously very old with some history. We loved the atmosphere, especially the art work. The staff was fantastic and the chef/owner makes an effort to speak to every customer -- he especially engages the children (we had our grand daughter with us).
The brussels sprouts are great.
Crowded seating and moderate service although friendly wait staff. Although made reservations, had to wait in bar and restaurant didn’t acknowledge our appointment to open table
