We were staying in Mendocino with friends and decided to try the Little River Inn. Bar is charming, spectacular view and really nice and varied menu. Dining room was quaint, also with great views from most tables. Food was good, not great. I recommend you order appetizers for dinner and skip the dinner menu. Service was very good.

Local was good, place was cute, wait staff nice. Down side was I would have been happier in the bar area with the bae menu, which was more creative and cheaper than the main dining area.

We drove, 8 hours, from Coos Bay, OR, down to Little River to the Inn. We had dinners on two consecutive nights. The first night (just my wife and I), the service and ambiance was great. The food, not so good. Large portions of mediocrity. We had the fixed price meal of a Caesar salad - one strip of anchovy along with a fair-to-middling dressing over a huge amount of lettuce. Neither one of us could finish it. The main course was wild boar over pasta with vegs. Three tiny pieces of overly dried out boar (in no sauce) with a HUGE amount of pasta. Again, couldn't finish it. The dessert, bread pudding, was pretty good, but, again more than anyone of normal girth could handle.

The next night (we were staying there - great accommodations!), we were with friends. The calamari and the crab cakes were nice starters. My wife enjoyed the lamb shank and I really liked the mixed green salad and the bacon sliders. Our friends had the salmon and NY steak which they also liked. I had to beg the waitress, three times, for a refill on my glass of water. The desserts were fine, but, nothing to write home about. All in all, if you live in the area, not a bad place for dinner. But, don't waste your time traveling very far for the experience, it isn't worth it. My wife, my friend's wife, and I, can prepare a better meal at home.

My wife and I spent 4 days of our Honeymoon here in 1969. We have been very frequent visitors since. The Sole Almondine has been our favorite for years. This dinner was a disappointment in that the Sole dish was no where near the classic dish of the past. The fish was great, but the rest was underwhelming with no batter in sight.....The service was fantastic!!

My husband and I were there for our wedding anniversary weekend and we were treated like royalty.
The quaint window seat gave us the best view of the sunset. Were had a delicious meal of the finest cioppino asking with exquisite crab cakes and calamari cooked to perfection.
I look forward to my next meal there.

Service was great. Was presented very well. The food was just not over the top for how this establishment was presented. The fish was the only seafood that was local and the steak was top sirloin not a ribeye. Wine was great and the food was presented well.

Went to Mendocino for a short vacation. Eating at this restaurant was simply an altogether pleasurable and relaxing experience. Great view from the table by the window, a very good menu with an excellent prix fix option. Pleasant surroundings quiet enough for conversation.

We frequently visit Mendocino County and we have two favorite restaurants: River's End and Albion River Inn, We occasionally also visit the Little River Inn as we did over New Year's. Unfortunately, while Carol provided great service, the food was not up to par. My Halibut was dry and tasted a little over the Hill. As a result, I didn't finish it. Hopefully, our experience this time was an aberration.

We've been here many times and keep coming back! The olalaberry (sp) cobbler is incredible and the menu always has a few surprises. If I changed anything it would be a few more seafood options.
It is a wonderful place!

We have been here before for Sunday Brunch and it was very good. They don't do that great for dinner. The Caesar Salad was dry, the dinner portions were small for the price and the spinach served with the salmon was cold, like paste and had no taste. The service was very slow. Not recommended for dinner.

From beginning to end the experience at the Little River Inn Restaurant was superb. Our waiter (Alejandro)was attentive without being intrusive and the star of the show was the food. We had shrimp salad and crab cakes as appetizers and the eggplant and fish & chips as main courses - all were incredibly delicious - the crab cakes, my wife and I agreed, were the best we've ever had; and the fish from the fish and chips was melt in your mouth good... One of the better dining experiences we've had. The whole team at the restaurant was just great - keep up the good work!

This time we ordered from the bar menu and were completely happy. Ole’s Burger and the fish taco are excellent examples of their genre. The room was festive for the holidays and it buzzed with good cheer. As before, service was attentive. Our waitperson this evening was somewhat tentative in answering my questions regarding ingredients, but this was minor overall. Oh yes, this night we chose beer from their long, interesting list.

In a word, fabulous! The waitress answered all our questions and led me to choose a dish I had not originally decided on. I'm so glad I changed my mind. I have had bad luck in the past ordering fish, but again, Little River Inn prepared my meal fabulously. Appetizers, dinner, dessert, was all better than expected. Service was great, and it was all served with a smile! Can't wait to go back.

Our dinner was great!! We had the sole and bouillabaisse. The bouillabase was loveley with a light note of saffon. The sole was light, flakey and done to perfection. Be sure to save room for the cobbler.

This is our go to spot when staying at the Inn. It's so easy to check in and then walk to dinner. The food has always been very good. This time was better than before. My wife and I both ordered local fish dishes and they were excellent. Hers was the Petrale Sole and mine the Salmon. Her clam chowder was terrific and featured clams in the shells. My potato leek soup appeared to be the same base as the chowder with bacon instead of clams. This is good food in a really good restaurant that is so convenient that it trumps any negatives (if ever there were any)

The food was delicious, perfectly prepared, and unique. The pureed spinach was incredible! We were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome. The only very minor glitch was that our server was spread too thin between two different rooms. It wasn't her fault, but it limited her ability to check on tables frequently. But that was very minor in the big picture of a great meal.

Everything about our experience at the restaurant was wonderful. The staff was very attentive. We liked it so much that we went back again the next night. The clam chowder soup was fantastic - not the usual thick pasty stuff many restaurants serve. This one had the clams still in their shells and the broth was so flavorful.

Is there any dish Chef Marc cannot do to delicious perfection at the Little River Inn Restaurant? We stayed at the Inn three days for our anniversary and enjoyed three dinners and two breakfasts, each one amazing. Dinner hour is particularly popular. Mendocino Coast ocean views are stunning from anywhere on Inn property. Some tables have an ocean view but most look into the garden. Only complaint would be a minor fly issue when windows are open on a warm, nice day, which is the weather we got for our getaway. The staff is unfailingly cheerful, efficient and kind. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

The meal was good, but the staff was stretched thin trying to accommodate a large birthday party. Also, the noise level was uncomfortable. Worth trying once more.
