Featuring classic French bistro items, the menu includes Fluke Meuniere, Bistro Chicken and Steak Frites, in addition to lighter fare such as Quinoa Salad, Ratatouille and Mussels. Signature specials include an “off-menu” French Onion Soup Burger with caramelized onions and gruyere.
Little Prince will also feature a frequently rotating beer program, highlighting unique French and local beers and seasonal French cocktails.
Dramatic floral arrangements accent the light-filled space, which has floor-to-ceiling windows that look out on bustling Prince Street. Caramel banquettes line the walls and the wooden bar is warmly lit by classic globe pendant lamps. Hand-painted ceramic floor tiles complete the bistro ambience.
I love this place . But the noise level is too high.
Impossible to have a normal conversation without having almost shout.
Better at lunch
Service was a bit rushed and I didn’t get my cocktail until my entree came out
The atmosphere is charming, food is good but expensive for what it is, service was fine. I had a salad for lunch and was told that I couldn't get bread with it as the bread delivery only came in time for dinner. That was a first!
Consistently excellent food, service, music
The ambiance and music is fabulous. You can hear and participate in your dinner conversation. The food was really tasty - we ordered many apps (favorites included the corn, burrata, and mussels) and entrees (favorites included the steak frites and steak hache) and shared all of them. Also, the desserts are spectacular (highly recommend the Nutella creme brulee, the carrot cake, and the chocolate chip cookie... though we all enjoyed the sorbets too!)!
Over an hour to get served.
Bad table -- incessant bumping by servers and guests seated at adjoining table.
After explicit statement about allergy to garlic, entree was swathed with it.
white wine ordered was warm, not chilled.
All very good. Only issue was our table was righty next to bar and the traffic was pretty heavy
Had a reservation and when I got there they told me I'd have to wait at least 15 minutes. Still don't want to wait if I made a reservation, but it's a different story if they give a space to wait. It is way too crowded at the front and starts the whole experience off on the wrong foot. Enjoyed the food a lot though.
Food was delicious! Atmosphere and service were excellent!
We were rushed through our meal, and they brought the appetizers and mains at the exact same time. The food came out so quickly we didnt even have time to order a bottle of wine with our meal. When we actually got cocktails after the rushed dinner, the hostess actually came over and asked us to leave .Her exact words were "you guys are killing me" for us taking up a table while people were waiting. We came to have a nice dinner, and while I worked in the service industry and definitely understand the frustration of having someone take up a table too long, a restaurant of this price cannot expect patrons to come in order food and drinks and be out in under 45 minutes on a Friday night. The experience was upsetting, and I will not return.
Overall okay experience. The onion soup is pretty good in terms of food. I heard the onion burger is good but I didn’t have that this time.
The salad though ... that came straight out of the refrigerator, which makes you wonder why you’re paying so much for basically what you do at home. Otherwise, the food was above average. I had steak and frites and it wasn’t bad.
I was told the service was horrible at this place but our waiter was actually very nice. But at the same time, we didn’t have a reserved table when we had actually made a reservation. We had to wait probably 10 minutes after being told “3 minutes”. Before you say “meh, why is that such a big deal? This is New York!”, I would note that they put those “Reserved” signs on other tables for tables that were reserved after us. So I can only assume that either their service is inconsistent at best or they forgot we had a reservation. And the latter seems unlikely because I made the reservation here on Open Table.
So in the end, I would say that nothing was great but it wasn’t horrible. Would I go there again? Maybe to try to onion burger. But honestly probably not. I have a hard time imagining that burger is good enough to overcome these other shortcomings.
So great..food delicious
Have the roasted chicken so moist and tasty.
Skirt Steak also terrific.
Enjoy a Betty White (or 2) a Lavender Infused Cocktail out of this world!
Staff young energetic friendly and accommodating..
Love everything about Little Prince! Ambiance, service, and food and cocktails are all great! Highly recommend!
Excellent!!! So much fun. Great valentines option. Thanks!
Cute spot for an after-work cocktail with friends and colleagues alike.
Great food, great service and great feel. Tables are tight and it’s a bit loud but there’s a nice, neighborhood vibe and the staff is genuinely warm and welcoming. Food is top notch bistro fare.
I usually go to little prince at night for one thing - the french onion burger. This was a business lunch and I tried something new — the salmon. It was fantastic. My coworker adored her salad with chicken and quinoa. She couldn’t stop raving about it. I will definitely go there for lunch more!
The food was good but not great. I had the seared tuna nicoise salad and it was not what I'd expect from such a nice restaurant. Though the French onion soup was good!
The decor is beautiful and the service was good as well.
Coffee was incredible. My grain bowl with poached eggs was spot on. A little loud but it was Saturday brunch, so not unexpected. Loved this place! Cozy, neighborhood, young vibe. Hostess took extra effort to be able to seat us. Very much appreciated!
Excellent ambience and food - my favorite restaurant in the city
What Little Prince lacks in serious gourmet credentials it makes up for in easy fun. Saturday night dinner became a raucous party, thanks to a large table celebrating a birthday. The music went up and the staff danced alongside the guests. We enjoyed it, but be warned! Bring a date or a friend, perhaps not your grandparents. The menu is nice and well-priced and wine is also reasonable.
Run to Little Prince. Don't walk. If you like Bistro Food in an intimate setting with creative twists and great cocktails with a staff that actually cares about the guest experience, look no further. My wife and I love this place and every friend we've sent raves about it.
Great atmosphere. Even better wait staff.
A fabulous local place suitable for a quick bite and a drink. Great, creative menu.
Always a solid choice! Food is fantastic and the servers are always great.
Duck was to die for! Just an adorable place
A fine place if you can take the noise. Very good French-influenced food. Friendly waiters. Nicely designed space. Worth a visit.
Wonderful food as always, great service.
Went there for brunch with some friends on a Saturday. The food was nothing special, the service was inattentive, and as my wife was finishing her coffee the hostess asked us to vacate the table so they could seat someone else (we were not dawdling, just finishing up a meal in normal course). We felt rushed. Would not recommend this restaurant, unfortunately.
"little" prince is very appropriately named for this very cozy place. It is vibrant and bustling. Dinner was wonderful and service was much better than expected (based on other reviews I saw before going).
I can't say enough great things about Little Prince.
I want to start with service. The owners, managers and staff understand the importance of the customer experience. They make all of their customers feel important. Their staff are polite, attentive and well spoken.
There food is innovative, fresh and extremely tasty.
Cocktails are fun....try the Cindi Lauper. Forget Balthazar if you want a seriously good, fun french bistro. Go straight to Little Prince!
I came here for lunch with my boss to say Thank You for all of her guidance over the year just past - we wanted to go somewhere special that we don't normally go with clients whilst still close to the office; and Little Prince did not disappoint! The service was spot on, albeit it was a quiet Thursday lunchtime . I can't eat gluten or dairy and they were very comfortable accommodating (I had a bunless burger with vegan cheese - sounds gross, tasted awesome)... I also consider myself somewhat of a fries connoisseur and the ones here were great!! The wine we had was delicious and I appreciated the waitress telling us that instead of getting one glass each, for an extra $1 we could upgrade to a carafe providing ~ a glass and a half each, yes please and thank you.
Definitely recommend. I can't comment on what it would be like on a busy Friday night or brunch over the weekend, but I can say that the food, atmosphere and wine will be worth it.
The food menu is great. Lots of healthy choices. Our salad lacked the dressing though, and the onion soup was too sweet.
They also played some rock music, and we could not hear each other.
Seatings were very tight and next to each other.
Bartender made an amazing chocolate martini that needs to be on dessert menu!!!
This place is so cute on both the outside and inside. I went for brunch and found the menu to be rather limited in terms of breakfast items. The food itself was good but not amazing. Atmosphere lovely, though a bit cramped.
There was a bridal shower - music started blasting, people started dancing on the chairs and around us while we were eating we couldn’t hear each other talk. The waiters didn’t take care of us at all - not asking if we needed anything and looked annoyed when we asked for the check. I would have liked to be informed of such an event tonight as I was looking for a regular restaurant to have a conversation/ normal dinner with a friend I haven’t seen in a long time...
Delicious food. Excellent service.
Lovely bistro ambiance. Food was wildly over-buttered, to the point of being inedible. No single dish had any balance to it. In the end it felt expensive since the food was meh. But the service was nice, and the atmosphere is nice, if those are your priorities.
I'm giving this restaurant an overall 2 star review because of the service. I had reservations for 2 at 9pm but showed up a bit early saying that I would be the only one dining that evening, asking for a spot at the bar instead. Patiently waiting, the host suggested that while I waited I could sit at a very tight spot directly in front of the door while another spot opened up at the bar. I got a drink and as time went on (all the while being crowded by patrons walking in and out and the cold air blowing at my back constantly) they did not reseat me to a better spot at the bar, or offer me a table in stead. They shouldn't ever seat someone there, it's far too small of a spot.
I ate at Little Prince 5 years ago when Matt Conroy was the Executive Chef and ordered the exact same thing (Orange Duck). This time the duck wasn't cooked as well.
Good food, felt the wait staff was a bit terse.
