About Little Nonna's

Little Nonna’s is an Italian-American eatery in Center City’s bustling Midtown Village. Inspired by the “red sauce” family-owned ristorantes of Italian immigrants, Chef Turney offers thoughtful interpretations of homestyle Italian-American dishes with an all-Italian wine list and handcrafted cocktails. The cozy 40-seat restaurant is evocative of an Italian grandmother’s living room, circa 1950, featuring vintage lace in the windows, hanging antique copper pots and an outdoor garden that seats an additional 40 guests.

Went to Little Nonna’s for Philly restaurant week and was wowed by the service, ambiance and, most importantly, the food! Meatballs and arancini is out of this world, as was the short rib. Try the apple crumble! Seats are rather close so I would not expect a ton of privacy. Will definitely go again!

Heard great things so decided to try it. Went on a Wed during Restaurant Week which is risky at other places, but not here. We had a choice of the regular menu or the special menu which had several wonderful choices for appetizers, entrees and desserts. There was a wine pairing which we also had and the wines were delicious. The food was plentiful, hot, very tasty, creative and all homemade. Cal our server and Hanna who greeted us at the door were friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Although this is a small place, we did not feel cramped and the noise level was very manageable. We will definitely be back! Little Nonna's exceeded all of the reviews that had been shared with us.

We love Little Nonna’s as our anniversary spot. Excellent food (especially the cheese-filled croutons and meatballs). We LOVED the gnocchi. It was very busy since it was restaurant week, so the seating was rather tight compared to what it has felt like in the past.

There were no real surprises on this menu, and yet everything was surprisingly good. One minor issue: no soup was offered, even on a freezing night.

We went for NYE. The first course was very small although it was supposed to be for the table. For 75 dollars a person not including drinks this could have been more generous considering that it only consisted of chess g, garlic, olives etc. it was hard to tell as it was so dark. The second course was small as well. The main course was the best one and thankfully we all chose the filets which were good and probably the best value for the main dish. However, the sides which were fingerling potatoes and mushrooms were scant. It seemed as if they ran out of food and had to ration it. Yes this was a special ocaision and yes I am used to paying higher prices in foo foo places in center city but at least in many other places sides aren’t something you have to search for on the plate. I was there with my mom and boyfriend who showed heir appreciation regardless. My mom ate in South Philadelphia for the last 18 years on NYE and since friends who usually eat with her were sick we went to Little Nonnas because my son calls her Nonna. I just know as much as she wouldn’t make me feel bad after the 300 plus bill she’s probably felt much more satisfied in South Philly for a lot less money.

We heard so much about Little Nonna's. The place is small and very attractive. The wait staff was attentive. The menu was very limited and a little pricy for what you get. $5 for 4 pieces of garlic bread is a little high. They were not very accommodating to menu substitutions so when I asked if I could have the a pasta dish with something other than sausage, they told me no. Meatballs were possible with a $4 up charge and there were no other choices. The dinners did not come with anything. The food we got was good but there are other restaurants with wider menu choices and good food in town. It was nice but there are definitely better Italian restaurants in center city for the price.

Loved Little Nonna's! Had dinner before a show at the Merriam, which is in walking distance. It was a cold night and the only table available was the one right by the door. Hostess was wonderful - put a heater next to our table and gave us complimentary garlic bread. Dinner was very good. Gnocchi was tender and sauce was wonderfully smooth. My son enjoyed the gigantic meatball and spaghetti. My husband had the Sunday gravy and enjoyed it that night and leftovers for lunch the next day.

Small local restaurant with authentic Italian food. Excellent homemade pasta. We have tried four different menu items and each one was better than the last. The service is very good. They do not always have all wines on the menu stocked ( we ordered Sangiovese, but the closest they had was Chianti), but the wines are good regardless. Don't leave without trying the cannolis. This is our go-to place whenever we are in the area.

Came here for lunch. Got a great window seat. Started off with a negroni and ordered spaghetti and meatballs with a glass of wine. Meatballs were delicious. I saved half the dish to take home. Looking forward to coming back!

This restaurant is normally excellent for pasta and traditional Italian-American food. We were, however, sold on the Seven Fishes dinner for the Christmas season and it was very clear immediately that the team at Little Nonna’s was way out of their league.

All fish dishes, save for the grilled octopus (which is nearly impossible to mess up unless it’s ivercooked), were really weak. The only strong dish we were served was the final pasta dish which didn’t have any fish.

We also did the wine pairing which had one wine that was so unusual that we had to send it back. A wine pairing should never have a choice so aggressive that it can’t be enjoyed by anyone at the table.

I normally love this restaurant but they are in the penalty box for anything ex-pasta for a very long time.

My aunt and I went for the feast of seven fishes. We both enjoyed the food. My only criticism is the beginning 4-5 appetizers came out right on top of each other. We were not able to enjoy them. I asked the waiter to please slow them down. My sazerac was tasty. Great meal overall

went here after a show at the Kimmel. only about 3 blocks away. Small, close tables, but friendly neighbors. Not really romantic. The food is fabulous, simply presented. Garlic bread was considered an appetizer, Not Free? It was really delicious. I don't consider spaghetti and meatballs restaurant fare, but it was sooo much better than mine. Fontina cheese ball inside the meatball? I never thought of that!
