Little Nonna’s is an Italian-American eatery in Center City’s bustling Midtown Village. Inspired by the “red sauce” family-owned ristorantes of Italian immigrants, Chef Turney offers thoughtful interpretations of homestyle Italian-American dishes with an all-Italian wine list and handcrafted cocktails. The cozy 40-seat restaurant is evocative of an Italian grandmother’s living room, circa 1950, featuring vintage lace in the windows, hanging antique copper pots and an outdoor garden that seats an additional 40 guests.

Our daughter lives in Philly and wanted to go here and now I know why! The Italian fare was amazing. I would highly recommend the meatballs but you will not go wrong with anything on the menu. The waitstaff was attentive and I loved the cozy atmosphere. We will be back on our next trip to the City of Brotherly Love!

From the moment we walked in on a cold night we were warmly welcomed. The chefs offer of the arancini balls was a great start. We each had the gem salad ceaser which was a delicious twist with warm polenta cubes instead of bread and bits of grilled brocollini.
For our main we thought alike again and chose their version of eggplant parm. Here were 'sticks' of fried eggplant stacked with mozzarella and yummy sauce over the center. I don't usually eat fried food and I couldn't get enough of this wonderful meal

We go to Little Nonna's every time we run the Philadelphia Marathon for their delicious and GENEROUS portions of spaghetti and meatballs. Everything here is fantastic. The little gem salad with hot croutons is terrific. The wines are great and reasonable. Their covered outdoor patio is really special. It's a treat to come here when we are in town!!

I brought my son there for his birthday. The food was good as well as the service. But I expected it to
be better. The lighting was so dark we couldn't see the menus to read them and we could barely see our
food to eat. When I asked the waitress about it she kinda laughed and blamed it on the establishment.
I was hoping for a nice meal with my son and mom and I was disappointed. For what I paid I expected a lot
more. So we wont be going back.

Food is very fresh, rustic, and delicious. Ticket times are very low, so you won't be waiting, service is fast. Make a reservation for sure, seats 40. Will return regularly.

It's a small restaurant with 2 entrances so there weren't many places to sit without a cold draft. As it happens we were right by a door so we were cold. My husband's bronzino was overcooked and did not taste fresh. My order of scallops were 3 large ones, not really enough for an entree. The accompaniment of parsnip puree was icky.

The gnocchi was heavenly. The house-made sausage was light and delicious.

Service was good. Sangria and "Mulberry" mixed drink (tasted like Old Fashion) were excellent. Both of us had Spaghetti and Meatballs which we enjoyed. My husband had tiramisu and I had hazelnut cannolis for dessert. Dessert was outstanding!

The waitress was a doll and knew it was our Anniversary which was very sweet. We have been waiting to dine here but we were a little disappointed on the quality of the food. We are both Italian so we expect good food especially when everything is homemade but the chunks of garlic that were in our entrees was simply too much. It wasn’t listed as an ingredient in the menu and I can’t eat huge pieces of garlic so I was quite turned off. The garlic bread was phenomenal, the meatballs had way too many herbs in them. We didn’t have dessert. We will give it one more shot for lunch one day.

We enjoyed our meals, a chopped salad, then pasta with clams followed by the water ice. The flavors were subtle, service was good, and serving size was appropriate. The check came to $75, including 2 small beers.

We sat in the Garden area. It was warm as toast on a cool and rainy night. It was noisy but we had a little one with us. We could barely hear the music but she sang along and you could not hear her for the din.
the main dining room is quieter.

The last time we visited Philadelphia (from NYC) we ate here and everything was very good. This time, however, service was very slow and the rigatoni in vodka sauce was served cooler than room temperature. The sausage that accompanied it was lukewarm. By comparison the other entree (meatballs and spaghetti) was piping hot. Although I considered sending the rigatoni back, the slowness of the service deterred me because we wanted to eat dinner together not consecutively. Accompaniments that should have been automatically brought (a serving spoon for a shared salad; ground pepper for the salad) had to be requested. The pepper shaker (not a pepper mill) was so encrusted that I had to unscrew the cap to get some pepper for my salad. Next time we're in Philadelphia, we'll be eating elsewhere.

Little Nonna is just FUN. There are two seating areas -- a retro main room with red vinyl-covered booths and a year-round heated outdoor terrace, which really is comfortable any time of year and is our preferred spot. The menu is full of guilty pleasures, mostly centering on pasta and red gravy. The pasta isn't gourmet or al dente, but it's piled up high on the plate under excellent sauces. Where else in Center City is the house specialty spaghetti and meatballs? Most recently, I had the linguine with clams -- it could have been more clammy (I think that it had more sausage than clams), but the sauce was amazing and I cleaned my plate. If you like cocktails, the house negroni is excellent. My only gripe at our last visit is that our entrees came just as we were finishing our appetizers. On the other hand, they were several minutes late with the eggplant parmigiana ordered by one of our friends -- so they told us that it was on the house. Classy.

Great place for a pre-theater dinner. The ambiance sneaked up on me. At first I thought it overly noisy and everything too close. But that changed to comfortably busy and friendly. And the food - overly generous portions, prepared quickly, for a reasonable price. We will return.
