Little Harry's Ratings and Reviews
Food was overly spicy for our taste. Their idea of crab stuffed salmon was salmon with overly spiced crab on top. Whipped cream on key lime pie was melted and runny. Shrimp in crispy skin appetizer was good and best part of meal. This place used to be much better.
Overall, Little Harry's is a great place to eat!
We had a 5pm reservation the last time we ate there, which is when they first open, and were very disappointed that the foyer door was locked. It was VERY cold out that day, so standing around for the 5-10 minutes outside dampened our mood quite a bit.
Also, since there is the option to sit at high-top table by the bar as well as regular tables, it would be good to ask about preferences. We didn't realize when we made the reservation to add a note about wanting to be at a regular table when we made the reservation.
This restaurant was warm and cozy. Perfect after a day is skiing. The menu has something for every body. I started with the apple cider with rum which was perfectly seasoned. The red curry was really good - nice and spicey. A couple of people in the the group ordered the lobster ravioli which was topped with a huge quantity of seafood. The staff is friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back.
I was disappointed with the Burrito. The filling was chili, but it seemed like it was made quickly, so that the chili powder tasted raw. There were no other flavors coming along with it.
I also tried the House Soup. That also lacked flavor.
I tried my date's Flouta(?) It was okay but very bland.
Perhaps they would do better with some of the other dishes.
I've been to Harry's and Little Harry's many times. One of my favorites. Usually excellent food and service and well priced. This particular trip was very crowded and noisy but there was a show at the theatre that night so this was the before concert crowd and quieted down considerably about 7:30PM. Service was a bit slow due to the crowd but excellent nonetheless and we were not in a hurry. Most of the food was very good but the baked scallops tasted "off." Not sure what the problem was and I didn't get ill so it was not the quality of the seafood but something in the preparation. So many excellent options on the menu so I just won't get that again. Normally service is quick and the noise level much lower. The Thai Mussels appetizer is our favorite and do try them if you like very spicy food. Can make a meal of the Mussels and a salad.
The food was very good, but a bit variable. My wife's Duck Confit was excellent, my lamb stew was just good. The Greek salad ($2 upcharge) was very good. The chocolate brownie sundae that we shared for dessert was also very good. There's a good variety of wines, but only three beers on tap (though many bottled options are available).
We ordered a filet mignon and a NY sirloin steak with two glasses of Malbec. It took literally an hour to be served. The quality of the meat was just OK. The wine was below average. Service was also not satisfactory: didn't even get a water refill until check out!
This was my 2nd visit. I love the jerk scallops, though think they could be spicier. The wine is reasonable and good. Our waitress, (older, gracious brunette) was great but the young woman at the hostess desk was way too casual and offhand. Noise level pre-theater is high, but I imagine that is situational.
It was a Sunday night of long holiday weekend and they were BUSY! We were greeted with a smile and our table was waiting. Though they were slammed, we were taken care of as if we were the only table in the place. I don't know how they pulled it off. We felt special and will certainly recommend a visit anytime folks are near Rutland, it is totally worth the drive.
We discovered Little Harry's several years ago while on vacation in the area. We return every time we are here for a great night out, 2-3X a year. Unlike other places we like to eat, we have varied our choices and always been satisfied! Love their homemade dressings and a varied garden salad, served with warm cornbread and French bread with sweet butter (honey?). Also love: their pad Thai, now a dinner instead of an appetizer as it was before; chicken parm; fish and chips, steaks, seafood, chicken dishes.... I have also made a meal of a few of their apps, which are varied and delicious (shrimp in crisp skins, dumplings). There are more adventurous offerings, too, but we're more traditional in our tastes. Food is fresh, prep is en pointe, service is good except for one night they seemed to be unexpectedly short-staffed.
Wonderful menu! The food was delicious. Our waitress was attentive but allowed us to take our time and enjoy the meal. This restaurant stands out for being a great option for meat lovers as well as vegetarians. Also, a very romantic atmosphere for dates, but also nice for a cozy dinner with friends. 5 stars all around!
Made reservations for before a show @ the Paramount, arrive 15 minuets early, and was promptly seated, got our drinks and appetizers in a timely fashion , and the main meals came out and were delicious! Never disappointed the may times I've been there. Thanks again Jack!
Reservations were seamless using OpenTable. We were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly. The food came pretty quickly, and it was DELICIOUS. We even had leftovers for lunch the next day. Well worth the drive to Rutland. Street parking was easy too.
