A great small spot for pasta. Great atmosphere, we watched our pasta be made from scratch, the starters were awesome and it was quiet enough to be able to easily chat with everyone in our group. Although the menu is small there was options for everyone (even our pickiest eater).
Despite the COVID19 pandemic, we were treated extremely well. The food was fantastic, and the service great.
My husband’s carbonara was so salty it was almost inedible. The meatballs were good though. Every time we asked the server for something it seemed like she made a point to do something else first. Meh
My husband and I went here for supper and did the 7 course meal. When ordering they asked how I felt about octupus. I said I would prefer a different meat but he said he would love it. I assumed they would bring us two serpate main dishes. We kept waiting for the octupus (or something different). Instead we were brought three pasta dishes and 1 beef dish. When paying over $200 for your meal I would excpect a main course to be some sort of meat. It was frustrating it wasnt communicated to us because he was really looking forward to trying the octopus.
Great food and atmosphere
If you were the judge on a high end cooking show, this is the food you would taste. It's all amazing. The only downside is that you need a jacket due to air-conditioning and the music is whatever playlist someone chooses (last time it was Elton John for a few hours).
Absolutely incredible, best food I’ve ever had in my life. We had the 7 course meal and they were able to completely change the food to accommodate any dislikes or food allergies/ sensitivity. Very personable and 100% worth the price, unforgettable!!
We did the 7 course meal all surprised and it was delightful and such a fun experience!
Service was absolutely exceptional! My boyfriend had the Tortellini which seemed pricey for the amount that was on the plate. Both of our meals were delicious. Music was a little loud. Overall I would recommend for a special evening out.
Great food and excellent wine pairing. A quiet casual dining room with just the right amount of attention so that you can enjoy your meal. Well done!
We had the 7 course tasting menu. All the dishes were delicious, but 4 of the 7 dishes were pasta. A little more variety would have been appropriate. Service was outstanding. They matched a nice bottle of wine for our meal. We will definitely return again,
Amazing flavourful food! Ordered the 4 course meal which met full expectations. Servers explained each dish and were super friendly throughout the service. We sat at the bar table and we were able to watch the chefs make our meal. It was an amazing experience! The chefs chatting and answered questions I had about the Dishes we had. I can’t wait to return to try more of their delicious food!
It was a little chilly being by the door/window but other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the experience at Little Grouse. It made my partner’s birthday very special.
Very enjoyable evening and great wine selection as well! Look forward to coming back soon.
Food was tasty - service was pretty good....but if you're hungry... Definitely go elsewhere.. there are several Italian food or other food options within walking distance.
Portions (pasta options were the primary plates on menu) are very small for the price relative to other similar restaurants. I get the quaint dining experience aspect but we all left hungry and disappointed.
Ayden is much better in my opinion and considering its promoted as the same owner I expected more from little grouse.
The "handmade" pasta was good despite the tiny portion size. Maybe the portion size is so everyone orders the pricey desserts? .... Everyone at our table was still very hungry after appetizers and out mains so we all ordered dessert.. the $6 scoop of sorbet looked good; my $12 sliver of cake was dry but had decent flavour..
The positive is that our server was good despite not knowing much about the food on the menu (apparently the menu had just changed??) ...I wish I had more positives to provide but I can't.
Time to order something from Skip to fill the void.
The service and food was amazing!
My only comment was that it was very cold in the restaurant! One of the chefs used the front door to what appeared to pour out water from a pot so came in and out a few times which created a freezing cold draft in the restaurant.
Our experience at Little Grouse on the Prairie was incredible! Our server was knowledgeable, fun and engaged. We opted for the 7 course Alla Famiglia and it did not disappoint! I also opted to pair it with the wine and that was an additional wow factor! The wines truly matched the dishes so well.
We had such an incredible experience and will definitely be back!
Tank you for such a lovely experiencing :)
We really enjoyed our time here. Will definitely be back again.
Delicious food! The drink menu is a little limited, but aside from that, we had a fantastic time.
Excellent food and service. I was dining alone, but was never made to feel neglected or conspicuous (which can sometimes be a problem for solo diners).
One of the best meals my wife and I have ever had. We wanted to sample as many dishes as we could, so we ordered the 7 course alla famiglia. They worked around dietary restrictions and each dish was better than the last. Our server Erin, was very knowledgeable and rounded out the experience. You won’t be disappointed.
We really enjoyed the food and would definitely dine there again.
A very unique little restaurant! The food is amazing, and totally worth every penny! We took friends for New Year's who have never been and they absolutely loved it! Highly recommend checking out for a special occasion!
Was kinda nice to be a bit quieter than usual
We enjoyed our evening here. It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. Our server was fabulous. She was friendly, understood the menu and was energetic. It's rare to get great service these days. Wine and food and music was great. We loved the salad too. We will be back!
always outstanding food and service... the acoustics can be challenging in this venue but this time of year we would expect it to be louder... truly a great night out always !!!!
Great Food, excellent service, however seated at a cold door that with people coming in and out all evening, we just wanted to eat and leave. Unfortunate. Food was quite good. Calamari & salad excellent.
Table shared 7 courses, thoroughly enjoyed the experience and food. Highly recommend!
Delicious food. Wonderful service. One of our favourite places when we come to Saskatoon!
A wonderful evening! Thank you!
Excellent food and service!
This was a hard one to review because there were great things but also not great things. Let's start with the service which was exceptional some of the best service I have ever had. Now let's get to the meal I had the tortellini in a broth and the broth was good but the tortellini was very under cooked and the portions are extremely small. I have no issue paying for excellent food with small portions but for 28 bucks this did not pass. I had to order a salad half way through my meal, which was the squash salad and it was good. Bottom line if I pay high prices for a meal I should have no complaints.
Great server knowledge of food menu & wine is there any better in town?
I can’t praise my server Marc enough! Super friendly and offered great suggestions on food, but his wine pairing suggestions were on point. Fantastic! Highly recommend this lovely little restaurant and hopefully you get the pleasure of Marc being your server.
I would definitely recommend Little Grouse on the Prairies. The food was really good, lots of flavor. Fast and Great service.
Food was very tasty! We had the 4 course meal with the wine pairing. Great service- server was very knowledgeable. Sort of wish the piece of trout was a bit bigger!
Seriously not good food.at.all!
Ordered spaghetti carbonara and ravioli.
My 10 year old could make these dishes better.
All you get is an unappealing bowl of spaghetti
with some strange sauce that tastes like - no words to describe the sauce.
My ravioli was tough as though it had dried out around the edges.
That was it - just another unappealing unappetizing bowl of ravioli.
I am not a chef but do know how to make excellent Italian food, the food I tried at this restaurant is not tasty at all.
Waste of my evening.
Always a great meal and great service!
I would recommend but I would caution that it is very expensive for what you get.
Had a lovely family thanksgiving celebration with our two daughters. Our appetizers were excellent - soft shelled crab and charcuterie board. Both very fresh and delicious. Our pasta selections were top notch. Mezzaluna, carbonara, ravioli with brown butter and sage, and pasta con vongole would all be dishes that I would recommend. The peanut butter budino was average at best. This is the second time we’ve had this dessert. The peanuts were rancid and the pudding did not have a lot of flavour. It was a bit better the first time, but still not good enough that I would order it again. My husband loves it, however! All in all, it was a great evening and we will be back.
