Little Grouse on the Prairie
Outstanding service, delicious food, highly recommend this gem of restaurant
Amazing. Every bite made us swoon. Can’t wait to go again!
Never had a bad meal. Always excellent. Wine pairing was the best we have ever had.
I simply adore this place!! I used to work there for a brief time and it is my number 1 go to for any occasion. The alga famila (sic) is a true experience focused around celebrating the craft and joys of food and food creation. It is a very unique dining experience in Saskatoon with no parallel. The folks in charge have always been exceptionally friendly and I feel good supporting local. It is a truly beautiful atmosphere with 2 sommeliers to make exceptional wine suggestions. My partner has been a professional cook for 5 years and this is one of the 3 places in town we dine at when we decide to eat out. Best Restaurant in Saskatoon in my opinion.
The food was great. It was well prepared and nicely presented. Our only issue with the venue was that the noise level was high making it difficult to carry on a conversation.
It was amazing. The food was excellent.
Great time! Loved the La Famiglia option. Got to taste and enjoy the chefs choice. Service was outstanding. Atmosphere was relaxed
We had to make a very last minute reservation which was cheerfully accommodated. From start to finish it was probably our best dining experience in Saskatoon in 13 years. Delicious, well served, graciously hosted by Matt... all in all a five star experience. Keep up the great work!!
This was our second time. We decided to do the small alla famiglia, which was 7 courses. 2 appetizers, soup, 2 pastas, an entre, and a desert. It was incredibly worth it. The lamb dish was far and away the best thing I have ever eaten. Can't wait to go back and try the 10 course!
Limited experience in fine dining , however, very impressed. Great service and fantastic food. would recommend to anyone.
One of the best and most memorable restaurant experiences I’ve had. Thank you Jesse and team for a great chef’s menu tasting and outstanding, friendly service. Will definitely return each time I visit Saskatoon.
Sometimes its nice to leave the world at the door and just enjoy the comfort of great, food ,wine, service and ambience. Little Grouse offers it all. Every taste is worthy match for the finest dining in the world.
Saskatoon should be proud to have Little Grouse.
As with all of the restaurants in this group, this is an amazing venue. Exceptional food.
Lovely but it was out 20th anniversary and my husbands 50 and although acknowledged something needs to be done for birthday
Vodka martinis should be served in a low-ball or tumbler. Anything else is either too cute or silly.
Absolutely amazing. A must do when in Saskatoon. Highly recommend family style dining with a wine pairing.
Food was absolutely astounding, the flavour combinations were certainly far above and beyond what I could recreate, which makes the expense worth it in my mind. Service was also top notch, especially the entertaining wine aeration!
We were both disappointed with the service and the food. We will not be returning.
Fantastic experience! Quality ingredients, beautifully prepared and presented. One of the absolute best dining experiences you will find in Saskatoon. Thank you Jesse for choosing to share your talent with us!
Really have to try hard to find fault with the experience we had. Highly recommend.
Nice ambience, good food but pricey for what you get.
All front of house personnel were knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. Jessie came to our table to say hi.
Excellent food, excellent service. Would definitely recommend in future
Great Food.... Fine fine experience.. I recommend it. You will not be underwhelmed.
Great service and food. I do find the noise level excessive however.
Server gave us menus but didn't explain the menu/ specials/ommisons bu the time we had decided. Once our menus where down, he finally came and told us we might have had a taster/pairing menu and that the meal I wanted was being substituted.
Both of us ordered Scallops as an appie, with one serving cooked just properly, but the other being undercooked. Scallops should be cooked just firm, not wet, through the middle. I mentioned it, but no recognition of the issue was given.
Portions are right sized for today's eater, but in the end value was just not there. We had 2 beer, 2 scallop apples, 1 main and 1 dessert each for $150 before gratuity.
The other, perhaps major issue, was the set up - it's a tiny restaurant with half being an open-view kitchen, with a mirrored walln, so that everyone, regardless of seating position, is staring at the kitchen all night. That's OK if everything is perfect, but the chef wore no headgear (chef hat or hair net) and had long bangs hanging in his face - and worse - over every plate. Several times we watched as he flipped or swiped at his hair while plating meals. Yuk!
The meals, although complicatd in their description, just weren't sufficiently palatable to warrant a rave review.
Incredible! Always a fresh menu with delicious new things to try. The wait staff and chef are very attentive and you can taste and see it in the detail of the food and presentation.
I had an octopus for an appetizer and clam pasta as my main. Both dishes were missing the flavor. The pasta was pretty bland and the octopus didn’t taste like much either. Had higher expectations. Won’t be coming back :(
My husband and I ordered the La Familia (Family Style) dinner for $70/person. We shared 3 small appetizers, 2 pastas, 1 main, 1 dessert, which were very tasty and creative! The servers were knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, we left feeling positive about our experience. However, diners need to be prepared that portion sizes are very small. The La Familia is really a tasting menu. You will not leave feeling "full." At $220 for dinner and drinks, Little Grouse on the Prairie needs to consider increasing the portion sizes.
The service was exemplary. Our server was chatty, but not too so, knowledgeable, fun, and engaging. He moved the whole dining experience to exceptional.
This was one of the best food experiences I’ve had! The wine pairing with the chefs selection was quite a treat!
Phenomenal food, wonderful attentive knowledgeable service from staff and sommelier. Highly recommend for a wonderful tasting experience
The service at little grouse was outstanding; even with us only drinking water, the staff was never far away to refill a glass or answer a question. The problem was the food itself. We spent over $170 for the two of us and left still wanting something to eat to feel full. We ordered an appetizer to share, two different pasta’s to share and two different main dishes. The appetizer was underwhelming for flavour and the portion was small. Both pasta dishes were the most flavourful things we eat at little grouse but i expect to get a lot more food (especially pasta) for $22-$26 than what was served. Finally, both of the main dishes were lacking in volume and flavour as well as value. If I am going to spend $35 on a main dish, not only should it fill me up but it should taste fantastic and both of the ones we ordered did neither. The pheasant was tough and almost inedible, and the lamb flavouring was average at best. When the best part of a main dish was the potato’s and the corn respectively, it definitely missed the mark. We had heard great things about little grouse but were overall disappointed with our experience. If you plan to go there for a meal, plan to have your wallet severely lightened and leave still feeling a bit Peckish and underwhelmed. Sorry.
I love Little Grouse!! I’ve been here a few times and this is my “to go” place for special occasions. I also buy gift cards for my family and friends here. I love this restaurant for their unique cuisine and ambience! I love their sharing menu, the quality of food has always been great. I was quite dissappointed this last time with their portions and the quality of the first three courses. I had to talk to our wonderful waitress and mention that the portions are more of “tasting” portions. My two friends that joined as I highly recommended this restaurant were joking that they would need to go to taste of Saskatchewan after dinner to eat. They quickly offered better portions to share. I would still go to this restaurant but I would think twice before inviting someone else. Keep up the good work!
Amazing flavours. Delicious food. Fresh ingredients. Great service! a special place indeed. Will be back.
An exceptional dining experience !
Excellent food and beverage, very creative dishes. Great wait staff
I had a dietary restriction I let them know about ahead of time and reminded them of once we arrived l. They didn't follow it for a few courses so I couldn't eat them. The server implied he was more knowledgeable than I was and assured me I could eat certain things. My doctor the next day confirmed he was wrong. We only really liked 1 course out of 10. I had been looking forward to eating at this place for over a year and was very disappointed in the taste. Definitely not worth the money we spent.
What an amazing experience! Great food and service. Just the right amount of food. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable of the wines and pairing with the food. Must do the tasting menu “Alla Familia” with wine pairing. I’d have to say it’s one of my favorite restaurants in Saskatoon. Will definitely go back next time we’re in Saskatoon.
Wonderful dining experience. Food was delicious and the wine pairings were excellent. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely go again next time we are in Saskatoon.
