Little Grouse on the Prairie
We had great service but were annoyed that we were charged extra for every piece of bread that was brought to our table, when the appetizers were served with an inadequate amount of bread to begin with. We spent a lot of money here and it seemed petty that a couple slices of bread were not complimentary. The risotto was disappointing, as it was very bland. Pastas and appetizers were otherwise delicious!
Outstanding! Really enjoyed the food, ambiance, wine and overall dining experience. Would eat again there anytime!
Cozy atmosphere perhaps a bit too close with the other diners. Ordered the meatballs which had a very good tomato sauce. Also the mozza ball like soft cheese with the bread. It lacked flavour but nice texture and the grilled bread was good. The clam linguine was enjoyable and the flank steak was quite tender considering the cut. Would have liked more options for beer.
New chef, new menu. We ordered the 10 course Alla Famiglia tasting menu and every dish was delicious. Great food, great service!! We will be back!
Food and service was excellent! Expensive but delicious. The music was strange and way too loud.
It was a great experience and excellent service.
We did the 6 course meal, but the food was fancy but tasted very average.
Well I’m italy we say: Nella botte piccola c’è il vino buono; which means, in the small barrel there is the good wine. Small restaurant and delicious food.
I went last Tuesday with my girlfriend; we had two different starter and main dishes; all four were awesome!!
The intalian cuisine is really strong and well mixed with Canedian product as meat and lake fish! 10 out of 10 the score for this restaurant!
Went out for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend, our first visit for both of us. The barrel aged old fashioned was delicious! We started with aged beef meatballs which were incredible. Unfortunately, the burrata was out until next week and was one of the reasons I wanted to come here the most. The fresh pasta was beautifully done. Definitely would come back again! Our server was great and brought out a birthday dessert for me as well.
Food and service was excellent. Staff were very attentive and accommodating. Food, although expensive, was amazing and worth it. Next time I'll try the six course to get a larger taste of the different dishes. Really enjoyed the experience and will come again.
Delicious. Good service. We did the smaller famiglia and with a
Couple of drinks it was a bit pricey but well worth, it given the quality.
I chose Little Grouse for my birthday supper as I had wanted to try it for quite some time and was looking forward to having great Italian food. However I was very disappointed with my meal as were the other 4 members of my party. I had ordered the Beef Ragu with olives and capers, but what I got was not a Ragu at all but instead ground beef with a little bit of flavour, not a caper or olive to be seen. My husband had ordered the Risotto and it was flavorless and runny. We certainly didn’t feel we got the quality of food expected for the cost. I do have to commend the service as our server was excellent and the wines we ordered were wonderful. But because of the disappointment in the food we will not be returning.
Our 4th visit to this restaurant. First three were good to excellent. This time our main course of the six course dinner was very disappointing. Vegetable was stringy and tough. The beef was very “chewy”. Couldn’t finish it. Our server did offer to substitute something different, but it was to late at that point. I would expect more from a restaurant of this caliber.
was a great overall dining experience! recommend the family style plates
Valentine’s Day was far poorer then previous times however gm called and managed to make offer to make correct I will say in past it has been over the top excellent in all ways I’m hoping it will be back to usual excellent standard
First visit since the rebranding. Still offer the 6 and 8 course meals. We had the 6 course meal-2 appetizers, a fish dish, 2 pastas an entree and dessert. The appetizers were ok- nothing special. I’m not a scallops fan but it was a lovely presentation. The pasta and Risotto were excellent- best part of the meal. The beef tenders was cooked sous vide method and although it was tender, it lacked a bit of flavour and the greens served with it were very tough. Dessert was a fancy pudding in a jam jar- tasty but not the easiest to share.
Service as always was outstanding! Will try again as some of the menu items looked tempting and the pasta was excellent.
The food and experience was amazing! Nothing in Saskatoon compares. I crave their food all the time!
Disappointing Valentine’s Day meal. Little Grouse should just stick to what they do best, which is pasta.
All around was a fun time
We got the 6 course meal and every course was super delicious. Our favorites were the one of the starters (Burrata with grilled Ciabatta) and ESPECIALLY the dessert (Almond Oil Cake). We were talking about getting the 6 course meal again just to see what dishes they'd serve.
Food was good, as usual. Some portions were pretty smal for the price.
We expected the food to be better. Was a little overpriced and portions were smaller than expected. Atmosphere was nice but overall experience did not make us want to go back.
We are very pleased with the new menu. Everything we tried had exceptional flavour. We will definitely be back!
We had the 7-course small meal with the wine pairings, and it was worth every penny! The sommelier was great in accommodating our preferences in Portuguese wines. Every single bite and sip was an adventure for our taste buds.
Great food in a small setting. We had an excellent table but others might not be so lucky. The wine pairings and explanations were very good. A bit pricey, but worth it.
This was not our 1st visit to the restaurant however we were so disappointed it may be our last. When we arrived for our reservation there was 2 tables for 2 people available we were seated directly next to the door (it was like -21) I asked if we could sit at the other table and the hostess’ response was ‘that table is reserved’ I thought I had made a reservation too-hum. The food was as expected and before we had finished our dessert we were asked if we were ready for the bill-ok we still had drinks to finish but we can pay I guess. The part that completely ruined the evening was just as she walked away with the debit machine and we were still enjoying our drinks, part of our $200 bill we had just paid Mr. Highbun came to the table to let us know they needed our table for another reservation that would be coming in. McDonald’s doesn’t even ask you to leave if all you have is a dollar coffee and a muffin. I wanted to share this experience because my husband and I rarely come to the city without our children and on that specific evening I later broke my ankle and required surgery while skating at the Bessbrough but supper was the worst part of our date night. Thanks for the memories
This really is a great restaurant, but while the food was very good, it was not up to the excellent quality that it once was. I'm quite sorry to report this, but I must be honest.
We really enjoyed our meal here. good wine selection. Small dining area. We ordered the sharing plates. The dishes were very good, very small portions, but good flavours.
Food was beautifully prepared. Service excellent. Too pricey though for the amount you get. I left still hungry.
Wonderful food and lovely service, will be coming back again for sure and telling my friends to check it out too.
Was here for NYE and did the set course. Every dish was awesome and some of the best service I've had at any restaurant. Highly recommended.
We went for a bit of a splurge night and this was definitely worth it! Great food, great wine, great service!
Our first visit was for our anniversary. It was a great success. We had the familia service and the food was excellent. Only recommendation is to have a variety of protein. Our courses were all beef.
The food was fantastic from the start (carpaccio) to the final sip of wine with our main course.
Fantastic!!! I loved it! When you book if in winter book a table in the restaurant not near the front door and window. Lovely to look at the passers by but we’re Australian it was cold.
First time at this restaurant. We ordered off the menu as we felt the combination offerings (4 course or 7 course groupings) would be a little pricey. However, at the end of the night it would have been approximately the same or even a little less to go with the combination options. Service was excellent, wine selection extensive and the staff was very knowledgable when it came to wine pairing with the food that was ordered. We found the music to be a little too loud for easy conversation so we requested it be turned down a bit and they did that for us.
Great environment, great food, excellent service. Save up and take that special someone out!!
Had a wonderful time here. We had the 10 courses and it was amazing. Would Defiantly recommend:)
Everytime we eat here it’s fantastic. We always do the la familia which gives us different tastes and meals which makes every meal an adventure. For an added bonus do the wine pairing (but get a cab home) as it adds that extra dimension.
Absolutely amazing meal! We will definitely be back.
Had an absolutely awesome time at Little Grouse. Everything was great as expected from other reviews. We were happy with everything however I can’t give five stars for value even though we were full at the end the meals portions were small but amazing so it is somewhat justified.
