Little Anthony's Italian Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We come here every time we visit Toronto and are usually very pleased with the experience. This time was a big disappointment, service was slow and inattentive. Our Pasta was good but in small portions and the accompanying meat balls were stone cold. My second beer never arrived.
Went for pre-theatre dinner, informed Emily our waitress that we were attending Nutcracker. She was very attentive, kept track of time and let us know as we near our time. When we inquire about sharing appetizers, she suggested the Antipasto board which was not over the board and perfect since we were not big eaters and would not fill us too much before our main course. We had ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto & the Veal Osso Buco...both were absolutely delicious. Ambiance & service was excellent!
Our first visit to Little Anthony's and we were very disappointed. The Caesar salad was soggy and certainly not fresh. Even though I asked for the salmon to be cooked medium, it was over-cooked and dry, the Chicken parmesan was very ordinary and not what we expected for the price point. Overall............very disappointing and I would not recommend it to others.
The one positive was our server who was very gracious and pleasant and got us out on time for the theatre.
Our first time in. We were greeted well and a nice table they asked if we were going to a show which we were. Our food arrived hot and timely enough to have dessert. Our food was tasty and hot good sized portions not overwhelming the dish or a dot on a plate. Meal finished with lots of to get to our show. I will love to return.
This was our second time visiting for a pre theatre dinner. The first time we didn’t have much time so we got a number of appetizers and they were fantastic. Especially the bacon wrapped dates. The seafood scampi and calbrese salad were also very good. Service was outstanding as the rushed out the food as we were on a tight timeline. So we had to go back.
This time we had the entrees and weren’t so impressed. Had the chicken parm and seafood linguine special. Very little seafood and my chicken was lukewarm. Service was still excellent.
It seems that it may be hit and miss and will wait to go back.
Little Anthony's was a perfect place to meet out of country friends.
We haven't seen each other in a while.
We were given the small room which made conversation so much easier for all.
Michael our waiter, was attentive and kind. The food was lovely.
So glad we picked this restaurant.
We had a delightful dinner. Waiter with great sense of humor (ok he laughed at our jokes). Good to arrive after Theater/opera goers left so seating better. Rez recommended on weekends at least. Food prep great, very accommodating and attentive. We have dined here several times, usually before opera.
We dined here for a marathon pre-race meal. The wait staff and kitchen were accommodating to our request to put sauces on the side. The bar was nice and had a good selection of beer, wine, and craft drinks. The crowd was mostly pre-theater . Overall, the food was excellent and we enjoyed our visit.
Overall a positive experience. Bit of a weird start to the meal because we requested a table by the window and with a 5:45 reservation the restaurant was almost empty but the tables by the window were all occupied and none were saved for us. However, the table we did get seated at was comfortable. It was then just over 20 minutes before our waiter came to provide bread and ask if we wanted drinks. After 15 minutes I actually walked up to the bar and asked for drinks for my wife and I because it is a 2 hour trip for us to get to this restaurant and we were thirsty. We still aren't certain why the waiters kept going to the other tables and passing by ours - but when we did finally get service the waiter was friendly, and prompt after that. The food was very well prepared, flavourful, and overall a good Italian meal. We would come back again and it was a good location to walk to the Bat Out of Hell musical afterwards.
Finally a reasonably priced good Italian restaurant in the Downtown! This place is right across from the Sheraton nearby to the Opera house, The Royal Alex and a bit of a walk to Yonge St and Victoria. Taxis abound.
The atmosphere was understated and warm. The service was co-ordinated and very timely. No waiting. The wine list was very well selected in the mid range, with not so many expensive choices that take up space. We had a very pleasant Primitivo that we had not tasted before. It was jammy and fresh at the same time. Great colour.
The antipasto plate was well-displayed with different meats so it was more fun. The shrimp and arugula salad was very tasty and not over-sauced.
The pasta was fresh and the carbonara presentation delectable with home cut smoked bacon and a fragrant sauce that did not overbear. The grilled shrimp and pesto was wonderful. The shrimp were plump and perfectly cooked with great flavour. Excellent mixture.
For dessert the fried puffs with orange sauce defeated the very smooth panna cotta. A strong espresso finished a great experience. And my wallet was not empty when we left happy.
Overall it was ok. Food was good nothing out of this world but decent.
Have to agree with other comments regarding service, this place would do go if the waitresses paid attention to details. At the bar, service was slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. Water was empty, forgot to bring the oil for the bread, long wait to clear. Will likely not return.
The waitress was great, however her colleagues let her down. First no beers, not one but three however I did get a complimentary bottle beer. Second we were waiting a good half hour and then suddenly the food appears like as though there'd forgot. That's what it felt like and it was warm and not hot like I like my food, it was well presented and tasted good so I did eat it. I don't complain I just won't go back and all our party felt the same. What a shame because the lady who was looking after what seemed all the restaurant worked extremely hard. The tip was for her and her alone.
