Lisa Marie Ratings and Reviews
We had watched the Netflix shows & were very much looking forward to trying the food featured on the show...but were extremely disappointed. The pulled pork was dry and tasteless. The ribs were delicious and the brisket was okay.
I have to say that since we live so far away (Alliston) that it wasn't worth the drive at all.
I was meeting a friend there for brunch. We had to ask to be served and seated ourselves. The servers were too busy but they were nice. The coffee was cold and tea was weak. It took forever for them to heat the coffee, or refill hot coffee, or just get a fresh cup, or get another teabag. The food was ok. It's served on big pans that don't retain any heat so it's cold after the first few bites.
The place is very cool, cozy, and has a variety of food options. No specific cuisine, a bit of everything, good appetizers to share (fried cauliflower & philly cheesesteak baos are my favorites). Being from Montreal, I tried the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich that comes with a cheeseburger patty - apparently they smoke the meat in-house - pretty delicious! My only disappointment was the elvis dessert, I expected to have french toasts with PB&J, bananas and bacon, but it was more like a whipped cream cup covering some bread & bananas, the candied bacon was still very good though.
I've been here for brunch and dinner and both were delicious! They also know how to make a decent cocktail which is an added bonus. The winner of our last meal was the king pao cauliflower (which to be honest we were all kind of surprised by) though, the Mac and cheese was a good second but I would suggest sharing it and something else as it is a bit rich and repetitive.
Food was great. But service was horrendous.
We arrived for our lunch reservation at 12pm. We ordered our food by 12:20pm and all our food arrived by 12:40pm. By 1:08pm the server advised us the next reservation has arrived and asked us to finish our food and pay our bill immediately. They acknowledged that they double booked the table and was their mistake, but still asked us to leave. We didn't even finish half our meal yet. I declined and said we aren't leaving, and it was up to them to fix the mistake they made. They came by 3 more times and said they couldn't fix the mistake asked us to leave. I declined again. Finally they said they will figure it out. We were paying our bill at 1:25pm and was chatting amongst ourselves. The server came by again, asked us to leave as the guests were still waiting.
Food was good, but wow, was the service terrible.
I had a great experience at Lisa Marie. I loved the food, fun & unique. The Kung Pow cauliflower was a hit, and trust me I'm a very picky cauliflower eater. I'm also not a big drinker, but the Ain't Nobody Got Thyme For That got me- and it was very good. Liked the music. The service was good, and was able to accommodate our increasing party size. Bathrooms were clean. I will return if I'm in the Trinity Bellwoods area.
We went in as a part of 4. We wanted to have dinner there. More than 15 mins passed after we were given a table, no one came to take our order. We decided to leave, disappointed with the experience. VERY dissapointed. We were completely ignored by the staff.
I found the place quite enjoyable overall. The fusion style of food was something that appealed to me. If i can have one critique, it would be that some of our dishes were consistently on the salty side (kung pow cauliflower & smoked brisket). The flavors were there and matched perfectly but if only the chef didn't go heavy handed on the salt. The washroom can also use some work. It was a little dungeon-esque for my liking.... Otherwise, I really enjoyed my time here and would recommend this place to my friends. Will also come back for the pad thai fries.... regret not trying that.
Ate brunch Labour Day Monday, it was my first time. I was very happy with my expierence from the start; A quick reception and seating upon arrival, followed by well made beverages, and an exceptional main course. Next time I'm in town I'll dine again!
I have had it on my brain over the past couple of years to go to the Bake Shoppe on College Street. I was in town this weekend for a concert with my mother and two friends and talked them into walking over to College Street from our hotel on Richmond. Ambitious? Nah, you build up an appetite and burn off those calories before inhaling them.
On our way up Queen Street West we walked past a VERY BUSY Lisa Marie. We stopped, heard the hostess say there was an hour and a half wait. We felt all signs pointed towards "check Open Table for a reservation for Sunday!" SCORE! They had one right when opening time was before we headed back to Buffalo.
We had front, open window seating that was fun since a Labour (Labor for us) Day parade going down Queen Street and the air show was still flying about. Over stimulation? Nope. Just a fun experience on those two event alone that will ruin it for future brunch ventures for me.
Anyway - service? Miranda was just great! Total sweetheart! Patient, friendly, provided good service without making us feel rushed.
Ok, so the food and drinks? My mother and I got the bacon explosion and pulled pork benny special with pad thai fries AND the duck fat potatoes. Mom and I split our meals and the sides. My bacon explosion seemed a little dry and my eggs a little too hard (I love drippy), but I still ate most of it and enjoyed it. I got two+ Last Stops' to drink as well. Mom asked for another that didn't come. She considered it saved calories. Too bad Duty Free didn't have the Butter Ripple Liquor (buttery nipple I kept accidentally calling it) on our way home otherwise I would be all set with my own homemade cold brew to make my own Last Stop.
I will be sure to keep Lisa Marie on my list of places to come back to on future trips up North. I hope Bake Shoppe will be open next time so we can walk off our Lisa Marie calories on our way over!
Side note: I keep thinking about the pad thai fries this week! YUM!
Nice location, but way too noisy. Music was too loud for any conversation. The staff was not the most friendly. Even with reservation 2 days before, we were put at a communal table. And we when asked to have a private table for a private conversation, we were given a lame excuse they were hold for people that reserved the tables before us.
I ordered the Shakshukah and the eggplant were completely not cooked and for the two eggs one was hard and the other almost raw. Everything covered with lots of tomatoes sauce.
We went for a brunch last Sunday. We made reservation through open table and good we did because by 11:30 the place was buzzing. We both ordered bacon explosion. It was absolutely great, and portions are huge.
Our waiter was super nice and friendly.
The place gets really loud and it is difficult to hear a person across of you.
Although I enjoyed the vibe and energy from Lisa Marie, I was not a fan of the food. I went for Summerlicious and for dinner with a friend. For the appetizer, I had the ahi-tuna was small and came with tacos/nacho chips were stale or just really hard. I also didn't even get a lot of the ahi tuna, maybe 1-2 bites full. For my main course, I had ribs which were tender and moist but did not have enough seasoning and needed more sauce. The dessert was a seasonal fruit cake that was super sour and just didn't taste appetizing after a few bites.
It was my first visit based on a recommendation from a friend. We attended as part of Summerlicious. Food we had was great however was a lot louder than we expected and our seating wasn't very comfortable as we expected a table rather than steel stools. A great place for a casual night out though...
Always a happening spot. Made better when you nab a seat by the massive opening windows. Took some out of town friends here for brunch. Tasty food, sausage and pancake stack - drool. Good cocktails for brunch. My partner and I found this place one Sunday and we're lucky enough to get a seat at the bar. I've been going back once a month.
We come to Lisa Marie for brunch at least once a month because the food is an explosion of awesome! And they take reservations so we never wait in line. Staff is super friendly and the vibe is fun and very energetic. It's also a great place for dinner too! I'd highly recommend following the restaurant on instagram to get updates on menu features and special events.
